This is the best series of sherlock Holmes, Ronald Howard treats people with respect and compassion and dr Watson is not portrayed as an idiot! H. Marion Crawford who played dr Watson was in great demand as a character actor, known to be a "natural" and extremely easy to work with. Thanks pizza flix!

Wow - y'all must have grabbed the 'snake poison' bottle instead of the 'tea' bottle... one of the best Holmes?? Holmes treating people with respect and compassion?! Don't read the actual books then, 'cause you'll be soooo disappointed in them!!!! They were never written to be bland 50's TV characters like this. The closest i've ever seen to the vibe of the books is Jeremy Brett, but no matter who you like, this is a tragedy.

@@schance1666 It isn't important to me that the series is true in following the books....I've seen the movies that portray Holmes as the cold, rude, arrogant and self absorbed character created by Doyle. I'll take this series with Ronald Howard's portrayal and enjoy it...thank you !

I was about to say that, but I'll settle for I AGREE. This Holmes was quite relaxed and easygoing, very easy to approach, and VERY LOVABLE while Dr. Watson was capable, and impressive, and quite comical in his own way. Basil Rathbone was the more hardbitten, cynical, experienced, and intimidating version, although I remember doing a face palm with the way that Nigel Bruce portrayed Dr. Watson.

I own this entire show. It's my favorite Sherlock film production! I could watch it anytime. The best Watson in my opinion. And Ronald Howard does a terrific performance. Being a former chem major, I used to have small chem lab in my condo, to do oil extraction from plants like lavender and vanilla that I would sell and give to relatives. Unfortunately, it's also the same setup one would use to extract oil from things like hash. So two police raids later, I gave it all away. lol

My only beef with this otherwise wonderful (and "Didn't the sergeant tell you?" funny) episode, is Watson not knowing that the would was caused by a bullet. As a doctor who served Afghanistan he would have treated many bullet wounds, so would know very well what caused this. For me they should have filmed it in some way that he didn't actually get chance to examine the body.

I particularly enjoyed using the step-by-step guide to making tea to help ,them to understanding that all learning is done in manageable chunks and that we all have the capacity to learn, I'm just glad that my tea-making sessions were not conducted in Sherlock Holmes style. Watson was a military doctor in Afghanistan in the era when even doctors had to fight against islamic extremist for survival. Taking a life and ignoring the wounded at times was necessary, and the Hippocratic oath was secondary and became the normal to Watson....... I'm sure Holmes was lucky to have Watson at times.

They all badly need to attend a seminar on Gun Safety. Lord Beryl takes a gun out, doesn't bother to check if it's loaded, and hands it to Holmes. Then Holmes gives the unchecked gun to Mrs. Beryl, who keeps pointing it at Holmes.

hey everyone, I spotted Lady Beryl doing a "Trudeau" , or maybe a "Nadler" with her eye-brows., both of them!,...freeze at exactly 15:01 and see for yourself.,...I think because they are fine in the scene just before, perhaps they had finished, but then called the crew back for one more shot that hadn't been done with the rest., so they took a short cut hoping no one would notice., but I did. :-)

It seems that in these times the police did a very poor job of investigating murder. No wonder they needed Holmes
@patrickleighpresents749
@patrickleighpresents749 4 жыл бұрын
I remember reading somewhere (quite a while back, so I don't recall exactly where,) that the reason there were private detectives galore during Holmes's time was because the police force in London was too small to investigate all the crimes that took place there. It was simply impossible for them to meet the demands of the situation. People had to turn to private detectives for aid as a result. (Not that most of them were any good, apparently.) Of course, I can't recall what the source of this information was, so I can't confirm how accurate it is, but based no what I know about 19th century England, I'm inclined to believe that it's more true than not.
