I am 76, waiting for a new hip, just diagnosed with diabetes, got a regurgitating heard valve, got prostate cancer, had a huge hernia, working seven days a week for a charity and lost my wife just over a year ago but am I depressed ? Course I bloody am ! It doesn’t stop me trying to enjoy life, kids, grandkids and friends as much as I can even though I really ache every morning until I have moved around for half an hour. So saying I can still touch my toes and blow 700 on a peak flow meter. Enjoy the Journey Pete, I will follow along to lose some of my weight. I tried resistance training but saying NO to two pies every day was too hard !

Hi pj. I've subbed to the new weightloss channel , I'm very interested in attempting this in parallel with your progress as I have also put on a lot of weight in the last 4 years due to depression after a bad separation and family loss also that has very nearly destroyed me completely .I used to love cycling (up to around 40 miles a week ),I've just lost all motivation n now weigh 24st, 4 years ago I was 18st ,rugby player build ,your video has realy hit a cord with me , I look forward to getting motivated,and finding myself again. GOOD LUCK BUDDY!

You can do this PJ! I've had Diabetes for almost 40 years, and it's not fun, but recently I started using a CGM and it has made a world of difference. I'm now on the cusp of being overweight - I've lost over 2 stone since June. Before that, I was definitely obese! It will be interesting to find out more about Ketosis - might try that.

Hi PJ Resistance training is definitely the way forward, helping build bone density & muscle which deteriorates quickly with age. You probably know this already …but it’s also good for the brain & fighting dementia & Alzimers. Get your Testosterone levels checked too…Good luck PJ, missing your audits mate.

Had a few things in common with you PJ. I did competition Judo for 11 years, long distance running and cycling. I have never been small in stature, and have been pretty much overweight most of my life. I do have type 2 diabetes and glaucoma. I think my B.M.I. (Body Mass Index) was, and is over 30, and not surprisingly in the `morbidly obese’ category. I retired early (60) six years ago after 47 years in the electrical / electronics industry, nearly 41 years in the same company, prior to retirement. They say dieting / losing weight is easy, I should know, I must have done it a million times. I am very interested in your new channel / venture, and hopefully I might learn a thing or two, and get myself fitter with maybe some weight loss, I do know one thing for sure, it is very difficult to do this on your own. Good luck PJ, I shall be watching with much interest.

So here is a thought, which helped me: Look into those people who are in the Carnivore/keto camps. Many folk dabble with time-restrictive eating, such as 16/8, or even a 6-hour eating window. with longer fasts thrown into the mix. And being as active as possible focusing on resistance training.. Oh and lastly, look into supplementing with creatine monohydrate. Don't forget to increase your protein as you get older we need more! again that helps with age-related muscle loss. Good look. But as I watch this video, you seem well-informed about time-restricted eating and creatine. But look into longer fasts a couple of times a month... Lots of information out there on the 36-hour water fasts and 3-day fasting and some more experienced people will do 5/7 day fasts. I've done a couple of 36-hour fasts and they are easy enough specially if you are someone who does IF/TRE.. Good luck

You r a fantastic individual sir. Check your thyroid, eat less & better, quit carbs except wholegrain if u can, start walking systematically for 1 hour - 3 times a week , stop eating after 8 p.m. until next day's breakfast , i.e. Intermittent Fasting. With your Military background I am sure you know this stuff much better than us. You will do fine sir.

I eat oats for breakfast (unbelievabowl brand off amazon) with a scoop of pure whey powder (any brand is fine but just pure whey powder, no sweeteners etc) mixed in. Lunch is a tin of wild sardines, I usually put them through some noodles and mix in a heaped teaspoon of bone broth powder and some nutritional yeast flakes (marigold brand, the fortified one, has B12 and vit D etc) Dinner is something light usually with meat, chicken or beef. However if I was having serious health issues, I would start with a 1 or 2 week water fast, then follow it with a few months of strict OMAD (one meal a day) ketosis to reset my system. Fasting is nature's gift to us that is superior to the entire medical industry and has even been shown to reverse cancer.
@PJAuditsАй бұрын
When I get home from Egypt I will be doing OMAD, along with some 3 or 4 day fasts. I need to get most of the cars out of my system before I start fasting though, otherwise I will be really hungry for the first few days. The longest fast I have done in the past is 1 week and felt great while fasting, but like I said, got to get rid of most of the car so first 👍😬

"I eat oats for breakfast (unbelievabowl brand off amazon) with a scoop of pure whey powder (any brand is fine but just pure whey powder, no sweeteners etc) mixed in." - Probably the worst thing to eat at anytime never mind for breakfast
@Stevieboy38Ай бұрын
@@porkpie2884 The oats or the whey powder? Both are good nutritionally from my experience. I am a big advocate of keto diet too but when I am not on it I try to eat whole nutritious foods that includes oats. Is it the carbs you think are the worst, or is it the anti nutrients in oats? The former are wholegrain sources of carbs which will be used for energy over hours. The latter are inactivated by soaking the oats as well as the cooking process.

I wish you the best. Checking your shirt links to Selous Scouts in Rhodesia 73-80. I thought your military background was a sapper somewhere in the UK infantry regiments able to be parachuted, but surely both is possible. You’re a decade older, stating bodily somehow what I felt passing 55, like a creeping decline. As it should be a surprise! In my late forties and early fifties, I three times adjusted from to much to fit going full ketose on dry ham, some fatty meat and water. There is a small bump to overcome, and then just control of lusts. So, if falling for lusts drinking four bottles of wine, twelve pints and two coca colas during the weekend, it is a weeks work loss. This baffled me! I found later in my traction schemes it was a lot of water. (Monday being the measuring day.) Ketosis gives a nasty breath, so you should not chase women! I’m sure you can do it! All the best!
loss of testosterone is a big issue for men. No new muscle built, mood changes, lack of drive and energy etc/

As a rule of thumb, if you like it don't eat it. I know that sounds bleak, but it's true for many of us. I got a kick in the arse from the diabetes nurse before going on a diet which I subsequently found was keto. I did feel a bit squiffy for a time, but only for a few days. Blood sugar's right down and my trousers fasten more easily. I wish you well Pete.
