This pedal is outstanding and is on my board permanently now since it’s release, not so much for drive ( in my opinion)but on clean it’s so good you almost can’t tell it’s on when used in stereo or mono. Most of the Waza craft pedals are extremely good, hope they release a phaser sooner or later.

I own this DC-2W and the (even better) FTT Tri Avatar Multi-Chorus = both are phenomenal. I've played in a Rush Tribute Band so i'm a huge Alex Lifeson fan and a bit of a Chorus junkie. Sounded heavenly today.

Nice timing since Ive been curious of what kind of chorus are used in the 80s coz Im obsessed with mk.gee’s tone. He’s a brilliant guitar player that’s getting a lot of recognition with his 80s guitar tone in these modern days.

Maybe I can help. Some of the most used "chorii" (rack units) were: 1. Roland Dimension D SSD320 2. Dytronics/Songbird Tri Stereo Chorus (the lushest chorus there is) 3. TC Electronics 1210 (chorus presets) At the top of my head those are the main ones. There are pedal versions of these. Also note that Stereo Micro Pitch Shift was also a very common effect used (in combination with chorus) that gets you close to the 80's sounds. If you need to know more let me know!

@@SessionGold man thank you for the time! This would really help. Any detune unit you know?
@SessionGold
@SessionGold 6 ай бұрын
@@CharLessMajor7Music If you really want the tweakability and want a seperate pedal for that effect your best option is the Eventide Micropitch, but the Eventide Tricerachorus also has a stereo pitch detune build in which you can activate in conjunction with the chorus or seperately.

Sounds good! I still have my Dimension D in the studio - I have always liked the subtle movement it offers. I checked out the Dimension C recently - need a simple floor pedal again - but I wasn't happy with the volume loss when engaged so I went for the MXR Analog Chorus in the end. The MXR is as basic as it comes but ideal for me because you can dial it back to a point where you only really notice it if you turn it off (if that makes any sense!). I used the CE-2 late '80s / early '90s when that super 'glassy' sound was de rigueur but it just sounds wrong now, sort of like the EP sound on the DX 7 😅

I think the difference between line6 version and boss was the boss is at the end of the chain after reverb vs line6 was like in the middle of the chain and also has a mix control to adjust how wet the sound is maybe.

.... but what if I have an *actual* chorus pedal that was made in japan in the 80's? That said the dimencion C is my favorite of the Boss offerings of Chorus, it's so nice, can do subtle and less subtle.

Not a fan of it on my guitar, but started using it on my bass
@compucorder64
@compucorder64 6 ай бұрын
These are great. But because these roll off the bass so much, I like them best used in a wet / dry / wet rig.Where only the left / right pair have the rolled-off bass, but the dry center amp stays full. Or on a mixer so the chorus comes through studio monitors, but dry signal through amp. The Space Dimension circuit was more designed to be used from a mixer in a send / return and to mix back in just some of the stereo chorus with the dry signal. Sometimes the bass rolloff doesn't matter, like on the lead lines in your intro where it sort of gives the guitar a Fender Jaguar like character - in a nice way.

I used one to record an acoustic guitar and the result was disappointing, it added just noise and the track lost definition... The tech added the pedal on the final master when I already recoded thru mics; I don't know the signal path he used...is there a way it can sound in all its glory so I can suggest it to him next time?
@compucorder64
@compucorder64 5 ай бұрын
@@lovecraftmusic8717 I'd probably just run it in parallel and with a fairly low level. So it just adds some subtle stereo / movement to the track. Another way might be to put it in parallel, low-level, but with a fully wet slap-back delay before it. So that the chorus is only on the slap back delay, not on the initial signal so initial transients come through uneffected. I tend to like chorus that way, only on the echos, and use a DOD rubberneck, because it has a send return on the delay pedal. Then add a gentle auto-gate after it, to further tame the noise. Or processing it carefully with something like izotope rx. That way the transients / original acoustic guitar tone would come through, mostly unhindered by the processing, and the processing itself is subtle and clean.

These do sound great, clearer pitch / less dated sounding, and less muddy than the CE-2W and better stereo. BUT, they also sound less thick and liquid, and they do suck the bass and don't do that classic slow pitch wobble, if that's what you want.
