Abbruzzese was the best drummer in the entire history of PJ
@Patatypatata9 жыл бұрын
US Soldier Indeed he was!! And IMO there has rarely been a drummer who draws this much attention live, even more so then his bandmates, in MUSIC HISTORY.. Even the great Ed Vedder was overshadowed.. this video clearly demonstrates that. Dave with his drums set up high above the rest, flapping his wings over Eddie as if he's the puppet master. And the band moves to his rhythm..It's no wonder he got voted out. There simply wasn't enough space on one stage for 2 egos the size of Florida.. It happens all the time when top dogs can't put the band(and fans) before themselves. Too bad for Dave, the fans & PJ(and I don't care what one or two members of the band would say..)

@justingardner46585 жыл бұрын
So, I guess we should just ignore Stone jamming hard and Eddie singing a difficult song to sing so flawlessly , it’s just as solid as the studio version.This song is a great example on how the “angst” filled , distorted roars actually are in tune with the song and meld into his normal singing so effortlessly. Yeah some try to copy his deep baritone but they can’t actually “ sing” his distorted screams like this, it’s why he’s head and shoulders above the clones who followed afterwards.
@ChorusArtists2 жыл бұрын
I used to cover several PJ tracks in my 90's band, and although I could match his baritone quite well, on Dissident I struggled with those distorted screams. They are perfectly pitched growls. He uses them perfectly, and the only voice I can compare that distorted rasp to is Jim Morrison.

Of course it's the whole band that makes the song but Dave's approach and phrasing is something no one has heard before or since, that's why the vibe is not the same without him.

@michaelturnerrr8 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Dave was the drummer, he was with Pj from late 1991 to about mid/late 1994. Out of those three or so years he definitely made the band. He killed every show he was at. Do me a favour and do a comparison between the different drummers at live Pj shows. Dave will come out on top, that I can guarantee.
@drock13838 жыл бұрын
+Michael Turner i pretty much made a comparison before i made the 1st comment. i watched i think a '12 dissadent live, then thought, well this dont sound as full and guitar heavy like the album did, so i found this vedio. started jamming and seen yalls comment then i started listening closely. so did the current drummer come into pj in the vitology album? great album, but def. sounds different from 10 or vs.....i remember buying the yield album long ago and thought, wow, no where near as good as the early 90s stuff. thanks for the reply man. cheerz to ya. d
@michaelturnerrr8 жыл бұрын
Oh, alright, Im glad you found a difference mate! Pearl Jam definitely lost steam when Dave left. The current drummer of PJ did not come in when Dave left, the former Red Chili Peppers drummer, Jack Irons replaced Dave Abbruzzese, then the current drummer, Matt Cameron replaced Irons. Matt Cameron was also the drummer for "Temple of the dog" which is where he is best suited. Matt Cameron is and will never be fit for Pearl Jam, never in a million years. He made the band boring.
