I worked at a car rental company here in Iceland and it was a good experience. Also here in Iceland if you reserve a car it means you actually reserved a car. Only once did someone arrive and we accidentally rented out the car they had reserved but they got their money back and a different car for free. But the worst thing about working there were the American customers, sometimes dealing with them would be equivelant to dealing with literal aliens.

So funny when Kyle says he gets free upgrades and you can tell Taylor doesn't want to burst his bubble lmao
@ZackFrisbee8 ай бұрын
“Free upgrades” in our case meant trying to push people into cars they didn’t want because we didn’t have their car. We had people who put in a reservation for a compact car and we would push a “free upgrade” to a Ram 1500 because that’s literally the only vehicle we had at the time.

Everytime i go to the Boise airport and pass the rental desk, i think of Taylor and debate asking if they knew him 😂

I doubt it man lol, one of the branches that I worked at went through 5 branch managers in less than a year, the turnover at those places is off the charts

I live in Boise and think about this exact story every time I go to the airport. He likely worked at Enterprise because that’s the desk that’s right next to Hertz

I have almost as many stories from mine as Taylor. Our door at Hertz had scratches all over it from people kicking it in anger as they were leaving.

hahahha laughed at your mormon joke about brewpops, I subleased a warehouse with a guy who turned out to be Mormon, but only through family obligations, now he didn't tell me this right away and on top of what he was doing in the warehouse he had a 9-5, so the only time I would really ever see him was on the weekends. I just thought it was odd that whenever I saw him on the weekends he didn't really seem to be doing much work, but more just wanting to hang out and drink beer. I am a drinker but I don't drink when I am working for obvious reasons. But one day he broke down and told me about how he was trapped and his family will completely disown him if he doesn't at least fake his beliefs. He essentially started a small business just for an excuse to be away and do whatever he wanted. After I knew this we became closer and I ever took him to a concert and the casino after the show and he was having the TIME of his life. He eventually moved away to another state for his real job and gave me most of his materials that were valuable to resell, I was like you want to go 50-50 and he was like just keep it. So he was a great guy and I always felt sorry for him.

Can't vouch for car preps but being a porter at a dealership I can confirm anything you left in a rental/trade in is property of the nightshift

Worst job I ever had was in retail, I was still in college so desperate for any money. I'm 40 now so this was when I was about 18-19. But at this job I had to wear dress pants, a shirt and tie and over the shirt and tie a smock as well. All while making like $8.25/hr....working in retail.... My friends would come in and just start laughing at me knowing how much I hated every second of it. But the nice thing was that I realized it was next to impossible to get fired, because I was so desperate for the job I took essentially the worst hours on the worst days of the week even. So I would do the absolute bare minimum and sometimes even below bare minimum like my manager and I used to gamble on sports and even rolling dice in the stockroom when we were supposed to be cleaning out space for the truck delivery the next morning lol When the store manager would confront us about it we'd just make up stories about how busy it was. Worst job ever though, but we did anything to make it better. lol

I've had mixed bag experiences with car rentals, but the first time I had something big happen was when I showed up to the vegas airport car rental place that you have to take the shuttle to, huge line of people and had to wait forever, no big deal, but when I got to the table this kid who looked to be literally a 22 year old (no clue if there has to be a min. age to for car rentals but he looked very young) was like I love your shirt man! I had some beatles shirt on and I just had a feeling he was schmoozing me and asked him what his favorite album was he couldn't name one and pretended to be all of a sudden super busy on the computer, so I asked what his favorite song was and still nothing. Next thing I know he's like I got good and bad news, the car you already paid for is not available but I can get you into a better car with a huge discount. Partly my mistake to say okay and he prints off the receipt and it's like several hundreds of dollars MORE for my short stay. He claimed there was really nothing he could do but that I could talk to his manager who was out in the booth and she's just shaking her head and reverses the charges and gets me into the same vehicle for what I originally paid. Another time off the Vegas airport I show up taking an uber and the small office is filled with people not being helped and just standing around. Which I thought was odd, so I walk right up to the desk to get my car and he's like oh we're still waiting for it to be returned. I waited over an hour and the car is returned! YAY! Except one huge problem, the person they use to clean the car and check the car for damage has already left. I'm like you really just had me stand here for like 1.5 hours fully knowing there was absolutely no chance I could get the car I already paid for? And he's like well I can upgrade you! I just left and walked to the closest restaurant and ordered a Turo which was a better car (mustang) for even cheaper and they came and dropped it off at the restaurant for free. Since then I've never thought about using anything besides Turo.

As far as a refueling fee goes, the place I work at does uhaul rentals and there's no reason for us to charge refueling fees. They're more intended for, like, the main uhaul locations, which are specifically and solely uhaul rentals and storage, as if they're paying for the fuel and to send someone to go to the gas station and back with the fuel.

Why did he work there right out of college? Was his degree useless or did he just do it for fun?
