I want to mention that the lion and croc are showing respect to each other by leaving each other alone and letting one another eat without the threat of violence to one another. It’s understood the lions are king of the land and the crocs are king of the water. So respect is given for that. There are no other wild animals outside these 2 that could dare be that close while eating.

There are many videos where a croc would retreat to the water when threatened by a tiger or a lion pride not to mention that there are vids of crocs being bullied or killed by hippos & elephants but I'm not talking about a fight between beasts. Some interesting facts of the Kruger Park The 2 000 000 hectares Kruger National Park in South Africa can only be described as huge! It’s about the same size as the whole of Israel, a little smaller than Belgium and about a third of the size of Ireland. The Kruger Park is approximately 360 kilometers long, has an average width of 65 kilometers and, at its widest point, it is 90 kilometers from east to west. There is a network of some 1800 kilometers of well maintained roads and the Reserve has 21 rest camps, 2 private lodge concessions, and 15 private safari lodges! “Huge” extends beyond land area: It his home to 336 tree, 49 fish, 34 amphibian, 114 reptile, 507 bird and 147 mammal species.

There was no need to attack, the croc laid there silently not making any aggressive sounds or movements. That and the lions were worn out. During their long rest and eating period, they sensed little to no threat. The croc understood how best to behave in that type of situation and it worked out well enough. It seemed to only be interested in an easy meal, like a vulture. A well played tactic indeed.

You're right. Even a salt water croc would think twice before approaching a tiger kill, so forget about a croc approaching a couple of tiger feeding. That would be suicidal for any croc, unless its really massive. Lions are most effective in groups. They don't specialize in water or have much experience in dealing with crocs single-handedly. Ive seen single full grown male lions only intimidate crocs but never try to go in for a kill. This is one of the distinctive reputation that separates both the lion and tiger.

@DLIX2DCLI4 жыл бұрын
@CHRIS SAVAGE Fyi, there's no caiman in India. They are mostly in central and South America. Another FYI, tigers aren't afraid to go into crocodile territory and have been known to attack and kill these reptiles on their own. Salt water crocs are bigger and faster than nile crocs.

I know the Park is very large and adjacent to other large parks in Zimbabwe to the north, and Mozambique to the east, but animals go where they will go.
@PKSafaris3 жыл бұрын
Hi They do get out of the Park and most of the time they get caught and send back or that is the plan anyway. Sometimes the communities that the law in their own hands and kill the animals unfortunately, it depends on the situation and animal of course.

But the croc was very patient, he waited for the lions to eat & leave, before he started in. I don't think any animals prey on crocs, maybe hippos attack them once in a while. Lions don't know how to kill them or if they did, feed on them, so I guess they leave them alone at a safe distance.
@dritemolawzbks85743 жыл бұрын
@@halibut1249 I don't want to start an argument about lions versus crocs, but the lions can kill them. It's just rare because when the crocs are attacked, they instinctively run back toward water and the lions lose interest. Lions and leopards aren't afraid of crocs out of water. The crocs are a lot slower than them, and leopards will even eat food hanging from the crocs jaws.
@halibut12493 жыл бұрын
@@dritemolawzbks8574 - jaguars hunt alligators in the Amazon but those are smaller. I was thinking more of the monster crocs in Africa. I haven't seen any vids showing lions or leopards hunting and killing them. I've seen several the other way around. Except maybe for hippos, the crocs seem to be the alpha predator in rivers and watering holes. Not saying lions don't or can't hunt them, but I think it's very rare. If a croc drags a lion under, the lion drowns. Plus crocs have that thick armor, how's a lion going to kill one??
@dritemolawzbks85743 жыл бұрын
@@halibut1249 The crocodilians hunted by jaguars are called, "caimans." They lions know how to climb on the back and bite through the neck and wear the croc down. That's the way tigers do it. You've seen a video of a croc eating a lion? There's a fake video showing it, but if that existed it's so rare that it would go viral. I've seen one where a croc killed a hyena and a young cheetah. It's possible a croc could kill a big cat, but they would have to exhaust it or drown them first. With crocs being cold-blooded, they don't have the stamina to easily kill an animal that fights back.
