I have never seen this kind of exercise before. It is perfect, because I could realize how is the best way to pronounce words in English. I think that to practice this is essential for who are looking for to improve the pronuciation and lose the accent from the own native language.

Guys very use information. I struggled with placement a lot until I discovered this one trick: When practicing shadowing/imitation place your hand gently on the Chest and lower your pitch and feel the vibration. It automatically fixes your focus on chest (lower placement) Please try it. I wish you all the best❤

This is pure Gold. I became aware of how Native Americans speak. It help me notice where my placement was and learned how low English speaker have their placement. I mean really loe. They talk soooo relax like if they were waking up from bed early in the morning. So easy going. Thank you Tom & Rachel. People you ought to study this like u paid 1,000 dollars for this session. This is a very good exercise. You cannot separate the words on syllables because the linkings will be lost. So actually uttering the thought groups slowly is the best depicting of how English works. I used to read it slowly before I could read with a normal speed. Imagine: What did you see in the market today? All the words are linked. Maximum you could stop between see and in, but in no other place.

I am really glad you guys came up with this new idea...now it is clear the where the breath currents / resonance whirl around.. Its resonates in the back - to -middle of the mouth, resonating on the palate.. and this is why, many US natives raise their eye brow while speaking... This video connects many dots of the puzzle.. For whom thinking this looks stupid, in spite of it this is very useful. If you don't like "uh" syllable you can use "oh" or "eh" instead for it makes no difference in fact.

It will be useful if you add marks to every phrase if it is a general or special question, exclamation, amazement or statement. I hope you get what I mean. So it will be logically bond not only to this situation but to general senses and intentions of a speaker. Maybe to use the up and down graphics will be useful as well. It's just my humble idea on it. In general I think you have to try it much more. It must work one way or another since it has much sense in its core. It's just a question of finding a more proper form. P.S. 'scuse me for my needless advises.

hey rachel just a question about how to pronounce these two words together: task zone. So is the "k" in task a stop k or do you fully pronounce it?

Personally, if I were speaking, I would pronounce the K as voiceless non-aspirated velar stop. That being said, I'm not sure if "task zone" is something I would often in say in English to start with :P

It would be really helpful to add placement in the description of every vowel sound, because I suppose it is different for “ee” and “i” for example, or “o” and “uh”. Position of the mouth is not everything, if they differ in placement.
