Today I'm demonstrating the Baklengs by Pladask Elektrisk. The Baklengs is a granular synth pedal, a glitchy weird delay, and an all-around sound mangler. Definitely my kind of pedal!
I'm coming back from a bit of a hiatus, and I was hoping my comeback video would be a short, quick, succinct and easy demo. I picked the wrong pedal for that! The Baklengs, despite its size and appearance, is extremely complex and incredibly deep.
Before I got into this demo, I was a little surprised at the lack of "deep-dive" demos on this pedal, and now I understand why. I hope I was able to effectively show you what it does... because it is a very innovative and powerful pedal.

This is hands down the best overview of the Baklengs on KZbin. Thanks for taking the time to explain it all so clearing and with great audio examples. Mine just arrived in the mail, so I’m excited to dive into all it’s complexity and quirkiness.

I love my Baklengs, such an awesome pedal. Your demo is great and covers all the features in a easily comprehensible way. Best demo of the Baklengs here IMHO 👍👍 👏👏

Honestly, this is a fantastic demo, if I could like it again I would! I watched it a little while back when I had my Baklengs out on loan to a friend, and finally got a grasp on how it works. Having gotten it back again, I'm rewatching and following along with your examples and I've fallen in love with the pedal all over again. Thank you so much.

VERY well done explaining this inexplainable pedal. I've had mine for a while and it's been impossible to explain tot anyone, b/c I could barely understand it. But this video really helped me wrap my head around it in a practical way. Thanks for that!

I own the Bakfram (the previous version of Baklengs) and I love it! To me (compared to other these pedals like the CBS Mood) is very intuitive to use. You get what you see, no menu diving, no dip switches, no tstrange under the hood tricks. I used also to have a Baklengs at some point, but I like better the Bakfram.

Totally agree about the value of intuitive design! I wish I had a Bakfram to compare against the Baklengs, I'd love to see the difference first hand. Thanks for watching!

Love the demo, I've got one of these and absolutely love it! You mentioned Meris, you should definitely deep dive the enzo, not only does it have since great synth tones, but the delay, and pitch functions are incredible. One of the better delays ive used.

Hi Kelly, thanks so much for the recommendation! That pedal is very high on my "need to buy" list right now, maybe I need to move it to the top :)

Came back for a refresh ahead of this weekend’s drop and man, this thing is awesome! I think I’ve finally matured enough for this pedal! 😂 Incredible job breaking this down and making it understandable! Thanks Aaron!!

Wow. Great tutorial. Must have taken a long time to do this. This pedal really gets deep. You set up a perfect diving board into oblivion. :)

Thank you! Yeah, it seemed like a nice, short demo video at first, but Baklengs is surprisingly complicated and did not cooperate with my "short video" plans. I need to do a one-knob overdrive pedal demo next, something like that sounds nice :)

...can you do something similar for a CB Mood? Both pedals seem to cause me amnesia mid-gig!
@markusmai4091
@markusmai4091 2 жыл бұрын
That was (is!) extremely helpful! Thanks so much. There seems to be slight differences depending which Baklengs edition you get. Mine does not this kind of taperecorder pitch shifting when I turn the time knob (yours does ) and turning the clock while having activated the caged infinity symbol with the left footswitch does real pitchshifting with the new pitch staying. Depending where you start and using the octave switch you can go to absurd lows and highs... Have a great weekend and thanks again!

How do you go about selecting where the loop repeat cycle begins and ends? It's a little hard for me to understand with your other loop constantly playing at the same time.

I think this pedal would provide what I wanted out of the Mood and Ct5, with a more intuitive control set.
@AaronRusch

I do love the controls on this pedal, I prefer pedals that don't require a look to the manual every time I want to turn a knob!

Nice thorough demo. For me, it would be much better if you changed up the loop because it gets too monotonous. I know why demo guys do it this way but for the listener, it's tough to listen to for near 30 minutes. Other than that, thumb up!

Me too. I think that is the trend in pedals, I'm seeing more and more stereo. Since Pladask released a stereo Matrise, I'm wondering if new stereo versions of their other pedals will come along someday? One can only hope!

The only real criticism is that this pedal doesn't have presets and midi. It can do million amazing things but you can only enjoy one at time.
