Pretty sure this is the only place on the internet you'll hear Crue and Gojira in the same video. While the ST is definitely THE Ryan guitar the Tele sounded phenomenal here.

Dude I've always thought your playing was really solid, but actually being able to see it was a big difference. I like your video style as is, but this was a nice change.

Congrats on 30k, man. Given you havent allowed your channel to become a brand ad vehicle, 30k is bloody impressive. Ive said this before, and ill say it again, this channel is my absolute favourite on KZbin. Cheers Ryan.

The Fender Modern player Tele is how I found your channel actually. Bought one myself back then, and it's just a solid go-to for whatever I need. Glad to see it's still in the mix.

Those are awesome guitars. I wondered how you kept the Gibson in tune for the reps in the studio, and then I saw the locking nut, lol. Looks beautiful.

My Epiphone Les Paul studio has always been my workhorse for heavy tones. Naturally beefy and can saturate brightly and beautifully with the right amps/plugins

You have basses for metal? Please show us! I bought a Schecter Apocalypse C-1EX tuned BEAD for my stuff. You might know the answer to this. I am looking for a 30” scale baritone like the Schecter Hellraiser C-VI. Have you seen this kind of axe anywhere?

Just the FM9 FAS Brootalz amp model through some Greenback loaded Marshall 4x12 IRs and a little EQ. That's it. If you have an AXE FX or FM product, I can send the preset.

Great vid. Your work horses are remarkably similar to my own. Mexi Tele, Ibanez SG (super cheap but punches above its weight), 8 string with passive pickups, and my Schecter KM6 is used to tune down to various things because the truss is so accessible. But my main is a Jackson multiscale 7 string with Fishmans. Do you use your 8 string for all 7 string applications or do you have a 7 string that gets used more than occasionally?
@PlagueScytheStudios
@PlagueScytheStudios Жыл бұрын
I actually don't own a 7 string, I went straight from 6 to 8 about 12 years ago. As a result, all my "7 string" demo tones come from guitars with a baritone scale length (I have a 25.5" LTD H338 with active pickups, but never really use it on the channel). Because of that, I wouldn't mind something like an Ibanez Universe someday to represent more traditional guitar scale lengths in a 7 string application.

Having watched for a few years, I'm familiar with all these guitars and the context in which they're used, but it's nice to see rundowns like this to showcase these wonderful instruments. One thing I'm surprised by considering the effort (or lack thereof in many senses) involved in owning multiple locking hardtail guitars is the absence of Evertune in your lineup. Do you own an Evertune guitar, and if not, why not (aside from price because the only way to get one under $1k is to buy used or build it yourself)?
@PlagueScytheStudios
@PlagueScytheStudios Жыл бұрын
Good question. The cost of an Evertune isn't much of a hindrance to me given its capabilities, but there are a couple reasons I have not taken the plunge. I probably never will unless there's a radical design overhaul, or my guitar playing situation changes. I don't see either of those things happening anytime soon. First off, for what I do, my locking nut and fine tuning bridge setups are more than capable for home use. There has never been a point during recording where the Typhoon or SG went so far out of whack that a couple rotations on the tailpiece screws couldn't fix it in 10 seconds flat. Second, I like to dramatically change tunings too often for an Evertune to make sense. I know you can still drop tune when they are setup for it, but it sort of defeats the purpose of the Evertune IMO when you are constantly having to be conscious of "zones" or swapping string gauges. My conclusion is: unless I started gigging on a new eight string (because I'm not butchering any of these instruments to retrofit one), and never change the tuning beyond drop Eb, an Evertune really wouldn't do me any good. EDIT: also, if I get another 8 string, it's going to have a multiscale neck and bridge. Evertune are going to have to figure out a better solution for that as well.
