Took a trip to Turquoise Place on the gulf coast in Alabama. The drive was split up into two days on the way down and then the same on the way back. This is the drive down trying to figure out how the car computer calculates the drive with the 20 inch wheels from Martian wheels.

It really depends on how cold it is outside and how long you had already been driving. I would say the average is around 50 miles.

I travel from Columbus, GA to head home as I'm stationed in Louisiana and traveling on 85 near Auburn to Montgomery you have to careful. The people can't drive there and I find it ironic you had footage of car accidents already. 65 south is lot better just takes to dang long to get to Mobile. The Greenville charger is what I take as well and for some reason they have two stalls that like to go out randomly. But the Cracker Barrel at Greenville supercharger is 👌.

Frankly a little surprised at your wh/mile rate (396). I would have expected much better. I have LR MS on order with 19" wheels and hope to get close to or under 300 wh/mile. I got 290 wh/mi in my previous 2015 MS85D with 19" wheels.

EV road trips are so much fun. We took delivery of our Taycan RWD Dec 1 @ Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte NC and drove it back to Tampa Fl right away. Our car is fitted with 305/21" tires and we get around 370 Wh/mi doing 80-85. Thanks for sharing your adventure, enjoy all your videos over the years.

@@marcusbiller867 Yes 84K/370 is 227 miles. The reverse calculations don't always agree. My miles traveled plus GOM range remaining seemed to come out with more miles than the division. Would be better if the cars showed the kWh used rather than the average consumption.

Your consumption seems really, really high. My 2017 100D always uses less than 300 Wh/mile on the highway (68 mph/110 kmph). I also do get much lower consumption on the highway than in the city. Regenerative braking can't make up for not having to stop in the first place plus all the constant speed changes forced by traffic. Plus, the Model S is still far more slippery than other cars, so the aero drag at highway speeds isn't as much of a penalty as with other EVs. I frequently see 149 Wh/km (238 Wh/mile) for the "last 50 km average) when going to the cabin. That includes some very steep up & down hills. I have a LOT of trouble believing that wheels (and tires) can make any significant real-world difference in efficiency. Maybe if there's a large difference in rolling resistance, but aerodynamically the disc of the wheel is edge-on to the direction of travel and the wheel well opening would have a far greater effect, and rotational inertia is irrelevant to steady-state travel.
