When I got my cheap thumb throttles from China, There was a lot of play on the shafts. I machined them, placed bushings in them and replaced shafts (shafts were not round...). Works like a charm now!

Your thumb throttles definitely work great on those amazing little bikes you built! Can't wait to see your new projects from home.

@@fatbuddycat There will be new projects coming, but first that will be projects of creating space around the house (removal of 20ft high and 140ft length of conifer hedge). Putting in a fence instead. Minibike, gokarts, buggy's, etc will have to wait a bit untill I have a new (1000sq ft) workshop build in my backyard. One of the reasons there hasn't been a video lately. But I'm editting a video at the moment! Stay tuned and keep up your good work, I like your video's.

We had thumb throttles on our quadzilla road quad bikes from new, switched them for second hand twisty throttles off junk Honda motorbikes. I cannot stand those thumb throttles. Nice video FBC, great history of the product

@@tashatorrid I'll have new video today of testing. The MiniBike Misfits bike is going to be intense, I'm trying to figure out the motor but most likely building out another Predator Hemi similar to my last one, that blue bike I have hauls dirt like you wouldn't believe. @@tashatorrid hey TT! What sprocket combo did you run on your mini bike? I'm getting this MiniBike Misfits bike together and seriously considering 420 chain even though they run 35. There fastest rider uses Gold on Gold 35 with no master link but where my heavy butt has a tendency to bend axles slightly I think I'll be throwing chain more than actually breaking it so 420 makes more sense to me. I have a 60t that fits and planned on a 10t clutch.

Would this be an easy replacement for my Trailmaster MB-200 with the stock engine? I had a Polaris 550 4 wheeler that had the thumb throttle, so that's what I'm used to.

I found that if I can't get full throttle you can use a dremel to take a little material off the arm and housing to get it there. Super easy to do. It's a great budget option.

These throttles can be very aggravating. I wish they had one built very simple and to last.

Question for you. Mine doesn't have the travel to pull the throttle all the way open. I don't even see enough space in the throw of the thumb throttle to get the carb open all the way. Thanks for the video man. This is with the adjustment screw pulled out of the housing completely.
@fatbuddycat Жыл бұрын
In one of my videos I show how to do it but I forget which one, you open it up grab a dremel with a bur and remove some material from where the arm inside hits on the housing when you push on the throttle. You can also shave a little bit off the arm itself. It takes about 5 minutes and gets you full throttle brother! Brap brap and all of that!!

@Bob Barker awesome!! You're welcome. I like to save money wherever i can, there are nicer throttles available but if these can be modified to work I say run'em and keep a spare on the shelf....you'll still be half the cost of something that could out last the mini bike in the first place! 😉

Thumb throttles are more safe but they hurt the kids thumb after a while.good comparison.
@OoheavysackoO Жыл бұрын
My bike experience is solely BMX and water bikes. On something that you ride in rough terrain a twist throttle is horrid in my opinion. On the water where you have to hold on with 2G's + that doesn't work out to well. Can't modulate the throttle when deacceleration and acceleration are between big waves. I prefer thumb or brake style as you can always let off and have a tight grip with out messing with the throttle. I feel this translates into a trail bike more-so than a road bike but opinions are like butts, everyone has one. To each their own :-)
