Plane Crash Site in 100 Mile Wilderness: AT Day 186

Visiting the wreckage of a plane crash that is in the 100 Mile Wilderness. Did the plane crash on the trail or was the trail re-routed there to view the crash site? Either way it is an interesting day and amazing that the father and son on the plane survived the crash. Many Mountains to climb today: 4th Mountain, 3rd Mountain, Columbus Mountain, and Chairback Mountain. A pretty hard 11.7 mile day from Cloud Pond Lean-to to W Branch Pleasant River.

All that green moss is beautiful! It's tough finding the trail on those flat rocky areas when the cairns aren't visible. Nice campsite by the stream!

1/3 of the way thru the 100 Mile Wilderness!🎉🎉 It's so beautiful there, a place you'd find fairies. The views are spectacular. May your river crossings be shallow and the trail dry. Happy trekking! 🥾

that section after the plane crash was just all recently redone the crews were out there when I went through it was probably nicely packed down by the time you got there I might have stayed at the same shelter it took forever to get to there we were all kind of mad about that already a long day then a difficult hike to the shelter we could have stayed on trail in a little site yeah there are some confusing areas through there

That shelter was definitely a long hard hike in with all the rocks, boards and mud. I think it was a half mile from the trail. Hard in the dark.

I do have a question about this video. Are you using a Go-pro or similar camera for this video. During the middle of the video I noticed you using both your hands and recording as you went over those rocks, thus my curiosity as to how you accomplished this. Thanks! Happy Trails

Still just using my phone. I tried putting it in a pocket with the lens sticking out so I could film and use my hands on that part. It worked ok but was a bit unsteady and I could see the very edge of the pocket.

It's so pretty there in the 100 mile wilderness. I can't wait to hike it. How the heck did the maintenance crews get those giant rocks into place though!? 😮 they must be magic! 😂
