Today, Ian and Mac are reviewing the PlaneMate 2.0 by Tour Striker. The PlaneMate 2.0 is a revamped version of the extremely popular and original PGA Show "Best New Product" winner.
This training aid guides you into a pro-caliber takeaway and "shallowing" of the club in transition and is designed to encourage body rotation and an all-important, inside-out strike.

Here’s an idea. Use a higher handicap with a steeper swing to benchmark No training aid, then have them get used to this product and hop back on the launch monitor and show the improvement on path and AoA. Love your guys videos but you’re at a much higher level than the average and it’s harder for us worse players to relate on a lot of your videos

Love these videos, especially recently with Mac. But please give us a proper DTL view! I’d imagine a lot of folks that watch this channel are “golf swing tinkerers” like myself and would love to see more traditional angles of the swing. Mac’s commentary is great but we can’t see what he is seeing based on the camera angle we’re limited to.

Love the Playmate and highly recommend it. That said, for the 1st 3-4 months...I would recommend nothing past an 8-iron. Hence, use the short strap and work with your pitching wedge and 9-iron. Stay away from the middle band. As for the driver strap (red)...never used it and did not need it. Lastly, watch the tutorial videos they have and stay with it. You need to work into it AND how it works, well before tryin to ht balls.

Curious how compounding training aids might work, or if it would work at all? Loved your reviews of this planemate and of the smart ball. Both products seem invaluable with helping the swing, but what would happen if you used them in conjunction with one another?

Need more commentary on the "feel" imparted while using the aid and how it gives feedback on bad swings. Way too much discussion of the numbers. Keep in mind, most of us won't be using this with a launch monitor.

"Need more commentary on the "feel" imparted while using the aid " Feels are different for everyone, Ian's feels aren't relevant to other peoples. I feel like my swing is all arms but in actuality I get my belt buckle pointed at target. Feels are only useful to the individual when they receive feedback that what they actually did was correct
@jimwilkins9718
@jimwilkins9718 2 жыл бұрын
@@cgolfc9407 Of course, I understand that every swing is unique. My point was that there had to be some thought behind the invention of the device and what it was designed to improve or give feedback on. Very little mention of that in the video. Instead, they obsessed over LM numbers and Ian's personal swing habits. Wasn't awful, but I learned very little about the training aid.
@NineTo5Golf
@NineTo5Golf 2 жыл бұрын
@@cgolfc9407 if everyone interprets feels differently, why would hearing how Ian feels the product matter for you? I would think seeing the difference in numbers illustrates what the aid is trying to do, and then you can discover your own feel with it when you start using it yourself, whether or not it’s alongside a launch monitor

So if you went from 4° tow down to 1° toe up, that iterates to me that one should have their swing in order before getting fit. If that swing change made 5° change imagine if they were bent 2° toe up in a fit, which would still be 2° down, then you would be 3° toe up after lessons or a training aid!! So doe we need new clubs or a proper swing?!?!

I suffer from the same thing… in to out, early extend and get the handle high! Think my last fitting I was averaging around 7 degrees from the inside 😅 Every time I try to rotate through the ball better though my strike goes completely and hit a few hosel rockets as well so I end up reverting back. Need to find time for some lessons me thinks!

Not true at all. I’ve had this training aid (the first one) for a while now. It promotes body rotation and shallowing the club. The golfer is still very much in control of the path and over the top tendencies. This aid does help neutralize path when done correctly

I bought mine more than 2 years ago, hope they did improve the build quality. I had 2 rivets come out of the rail, had them redone by a friend, both green bands snapped and I replaced them with rubber tubing cut from a stretching band I had. The product certainly helped me, especially with takeaway, but version 1.0 build quality was disappointing.

Ian I would love to pick your brain in regards to the lie angle on your clubs. You mentioned that you were a player who hovers around 4 degrees for down, and then shortly after mentioned that your clubs were 1 flat. Maybe I missed something but it seems strange you would add additional toe down bias to the club if that’s an issue you’re trying to work through
@wyatthenry6821
@wyatthenry6821 2 жыл бұрын
Ian’s iorns are bent one degree flat, but he delivers the club with a high handle thus adding more degrees to that. His total number is three or four flat (toe down) He is working on coming in with that handle lower and the toe slightly higher, this will avoid deflection (club head twisting through contact)

As is, I’m afraid to use it anymore so it’s sitting in my garage.
