Planeprint Eagle maiden flight

Our eagle fledged yesterday. And he not only flies, he flies fantastically! Great praise to the creator Hans-Martin Riehle! He designed it a few years ago and built it as a fiberglass model. Planeprint has redrawn him for 3D printing.
The bird, which is modeled after an original golden eagle, is fully 3d printed and has a wingspan of 2000 mm and a flying weight of only 1100 grams.

Nicely done, built my own rc eagle glider many years ago from EPP foam. This was my own creation based on a red tail hawk project our club did. Still have both and they fly great but no power so you need a good slope. 3D now offers so many more opportunities. Thanks!

@Ken Romero It is finished, I spent about 2 weeks of printing, glueing and painting. 👍🙂 Have flown it just once, motor came loos due to bad propeller, will be ready for second maiden again soon 😎

Looks amazing, I would be tempted to leave it white (natural lw-pla) just add a few details like eyes ect. But it looks fantastic.

Printing mine just now, painting it as per your artwork which I'm really looking forward to. I do fancy scaling it up to 3m, still a 1 layer print but skinning that in glass cloth. I have some great slopes to fly it off, just waiting to see how many bird watchers I can fool lol.

did you set it up with the ailirons working with the elevator, seems a strange set up for a convenonally controlled plane ?

profiles with high lift fly better curves if no aileron moves downwards. if it moves downward you always get a short impulse to the wrong side. set the way of the Aileron only tto up (spoiler) and fly better smoother curves. Nice design... thumbs up

Min printer size 200x200x200? Can it be done with a 180x180x180 build Area also? Without resizing?

Male Wedgies grow to around 2m, females up to about 2.3, so it’s already the size of a Wedge Tail.

The eagle from the video has exactly the drive I recommend for the Foka 4. However, it is rather weakly motorized with 2S. We are only in the process of selecting an optimized drive, in 2 weeks we will know more ...
