Passenger Jets fly really fast, but some Flat Earth people say they don't, that we're being lied to. In this video, I show you how to calculate the speed of an airplane from a video.
Speed is just distance divided by time, and there are two techniques for finding that speed, depending on whether the camera is on the plane or on the ground. Leave comments below if you have any questions or suggested improvements. However, please be civil - I know that discussions like this can end up in a shouting match, and I may remove comment with excessive name-calling and bad language.

The Blissful Zombie......Sir i can explain gravity, give examples, make you feel gravity and i can guaranteed that if you understand it? It will change your flat earth into reallity......Your example of the Sun as movement ? That was the most brainwashing indoctrinating argument ive ever read. 1) You need to understand perspective, physics and science in general. 2) Once you learn those subjects? You'll see that we are the ones rotating.

The Blissful Zombie. Movement is relative. For example, if you sit in a standing car, and a very fast car pass by. And if you cant see anything else other than the cars, there is no way to decide if your car or the other car moving.(at least you cant decide which car moving RELATIVE to the ground) If somebody would stand on the sun, he would think that he is standing still and the earth is moving. It is because both the sun and the earth is moving relative to each other.

The Blissful Zombie that’s a bit of a leap, don’t you think, your claim that we don’t know what movement is. I just had a movement and I feel so much better. It made me think that you were having a similar movement when all those nice words fell out of your mouth.

Well, I'm a A320 pilot and I can honestly say that planes don't really fly AT ALL! They stay stationary and the windows are TV screens displaying the world going by. What you see moving around the skies are only holograms. The plains are then moved by teleportation. It's a big conspiracy; this way rich folk can use all that jet fuel in their waterscooters and stuff and don't have to take any responsibility for their carbon footprint. Also, the earth is a cube!

"The plains are then moved by teleportation." You don't understand. You don't need teleportation to get the stationary planes to move. Just move up in the air and wait that the enormous water ball under you has moved around its axis the desired distance. When you have waited long enough, just move down again and you have reached your wanted destination.

@david hong the earth isn't flat you need to wake up. In the southern hemisphere in summer, every city in every country has the sun rising in the south-east and in the middle of the day it is almost 90 above you then set in the south west. So does the sun go out over the ice wall and not melt it? Take look at the sun direction, it is lower than all the countries. The sun does not zig zag in and out but works perfectly on a globe with axial tilt. Welcome back to the globe.

There is another experiment, I did when I was a young man. Have you ever noticed, that suprisingly you are able to give a pretty good estimate to where the noise of an airplane in flight is originating while watching it from the ground? You might have never tried that, but given a quiet surrounding, looking at the path of a plane there seems to be a spot of noise following the plane. Of course this is, because sound travels much slower then light and it takes some time for the sound to reach your ears. Just for fun, in those days I tried to use this to figure out, at what altitude the plane is flying and given the angle between the "noise patch" and the plane, how fast it is flying. While not perfectly accurate, the numbers were not that much off the numbers usually given in plane specs. So for a FE there is only one conclusion: the speed of sound is also not what THEY told us. See, this is the major problem with FE. Once you start believing in FE, then pretty much everything else also must be a lie. The shape of the earth does not stand isolated as some obscure fact. It has indirect implications to a lot of other areas.

There is another way to calculate landing speeds just using the length of the video and motion of the plane. The distance from the start of the runway to the beginning of the landing zone is standard at all class 1 airports at 1250 feet.. Even without using a time accurate to 0.1 seconds it generally takes a plane 6 seconds to travel that distance... which is about 141mph... The whole argument is ludicrous which seems to be "it's not as far as we think" A mile isn't a mile... Of course the problem with that that none of them ever think about is if a mile isn't actually a mile then a foot isn't a foot and an inch can't be an inch either. You can't have some measurements accurate and others not and not have it be completely obvious... I asked one of these guys if they were less than 2 feet tall.. What I think they're trying to do is fix the problem of distances in the Southern Hemisphere but that actually requires a flexible length of a mile... they need a mile to be a mile in some parts of the world but a mile to be 3 miles in others... The whole thing comes down to there literally is no idea so stupid that a flat earther somewhere won't take it seriously.

great video, you know, I have actually always had fun trying see how fast I go in a plane. for one thing, if I am along a highway, especially lower, I will see cars, knowing they are going around 60-80 mph and watching as we totally whiz by them like nothing, and then even more so, when higher up I try to find semi trucks, as they are dots but I can find them and its faster, and one otherthing I do is I always get a window seat, I will put my finger as refrence point, and I know for the most part at least for a lot of the flight, that the roads are all about 1 mile apart. it is probably a little futher if I am going at an angle to the square but I noticed it takes 7 to 8 seconds to cross a mile which comes out to be around 500 mph plus/minus. bu tI love this!

It's not to difficult to to prove goggle maps isn't lying. Go to any athletics running track on google maps. This either going to be 200 meters or 400, do some research on the one you have chosen to find out how large the track is then go back to google maps and measure the circumference of the track. I done this on my local track and got 399.6 meters this will be down to the fact it is hard to measure an oval accurately with lines in goggle maps. If we establish google maps works you could then go to an airport on google maps and measure a plane.

There actuaĺly is a way you can obtain very precise measurements of the planes real speed, in mm/s... Ok, maybe not that precise, but close. You would need 3 cameras that can geotag the film. That's it. Simply take 3 shots of the same plane as it lands, takes off, or flies by. That's it. Then you get the 3 shots and triangulate the plane. Then.... by simple triangulation you can get the precise location and size and speed of te plane.

Last week on a rainy day (it always seems to rain when I go away) I was sitting in my caravan (travel trailer) looking at the passing clouds through the skylight. It took about 30 seconds for them to move the 60 cm from one side of the skylight to the other. That's 0.072 km per hour if my mental arithmetic is correct. If the clouds were at 10,000 metres and I was about 1 metre away from the skylight, that means they were travelling at 720 kph. Do clouds travel that fast? Are clouds that high? Note that my measurements are very approximate.
@illuminatiminion6767
@illuminatiminion6767 5 жыл бұрын
@George Knowles Considering that you use the word caravan I'm assuming that you are in the UK. If it was rain clouds then they were almost certainly less than 1000 metres, possible only 200-300m. So the answer NO to both. The clouds were not that high, and they would have been moving at the same speed as the wind at that altitude. Probably < 50kph.

For one that simple sentence "using the calculations that is accepted by mainstream science" is wrong in itself. FE usually refer to the 8 miles per mile rule. Well that rule is an approximation which holds for short distances only. What is wrong with using the proper formula, which includes (shudder) taking a square root? The approximation is good enough for short distanceas, since the globe is large enough, that at a small distance one can replace the spherical surface with the tangent plane at that point without introducing to much error. It is pretty much the same thing, as drawing a circle with a diameter of 100 feet onto a piece of usual DIN A4 paper. The slight curving of that circle section on the paper is almost indistinguishable from a straight line. But does this mean, it IS a straight line? Of course not. It is still a circle section, even if you do not notice with the naked eyes.

Oh yeah... those are great. Those videos really do make it look like planes are hovering. However, they're always videos taken from a moving point of reference (like someone driving in a car). Whenever you use a stationary camera on a tripod, it's always obvious that the plane is actually moving (and the speed can be calculated). The exception is that there are times when a plane really is stationary: small prop planes heading into a strong headwind can fly slower than the headwind and actually be stationary. But this never happens for passenger jets.

The problem is the distance and is being calculated by road mileage, trains and cars take turns and have stop signs as to where planes fly straight avoiding any turns , that’s why the plane speed is calculated to be faster, the amount of fuel is a lie too. They use minimal fuel to start the engine and from that point on run off compressed air
@MatthewWeathers
@MatthewWeathers 4 жыл бұрын
At 3:13, I show a video of a plane landing in San Diego. The distance there is based on a straight-line distance, so I think it's valid. Pilots of long-range jets report the plane being much lighter when they land than when they took off - as much as 250 tons lighter in the case of an A380. What else would account for the plane being so much lighter, if it's not fuel weight?

YOU CAN STAND NEXT TO THE GOD DAMN PLANES AND SEE HOW DAMN BIG THEY ARE!!! Oh and lets not forget CHEM TRAILS.... Another popular Conspiracy Theory that Flat Earthers often believe in... If the planes are so small... WHERE THE FLYING F**K DO THEY STORE THE CHEMICALS??? (And yes even Nano Tech would need SOME KIND OF SPACE TO BE STORED SO DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THROWING THAT ONE 'TRUTHERS!') For the record, I am NOT against Flat Earth... Oh, yeah, that's not too hard to understand: It's because the atmosphere is moving with the Earth, and planes are flying relative to the air, not the earth. (That's why they're called AIRplanes, not EARTHplanes.) Try pouring water from a water bottle into a cup when you're riding in a car going 50mph - it works because the water, the bottle, and the cup are all moving with the car.

If Planes fly fast or not has nothing to do with flat earth! But about flat earth, this's a fac, that we are able to observe objects at incredibly long distances far beyond what would be possible if Earth were a globe, 25,000 miles in circumference as we're told. For example, it is a fact, that in Genoa, Italy, from just above sea-level, on clear days it is possible to see the distant islands of Elba, Gorgona, Capraia, and Corsica 80-125 miles away. It is a necessary theory that the globe-Earth must curve 8 inches per mile squared if it really is a ball 25,000 miles in circumference, but based on such a theory, these islands would all be completely hidden behind thousands of feet of curved Earth. In fact, the record-breaking longest distance zoom photograph ever taken recently showed Pic Gaspard from Pic de Finestrelles a whopping 275 miles away, at a height of under 10,000 feet, where, based on correct curvature calculations, the entire mountain should be invisible behind several miles of curved Earth.

For some Flat Earth believers, they solve the problem of flight times in the Southern Hemisphere by saying that we're being lied to about how fast jets fly. (For example, flight times Sydney-LAX vs Sydney-Santiago are about the same, but that doesn't work on the standard Flat Earth map.) So, for some people, jet speed is a part of the conspiracy. My video was examining that small part of it. As for the rest of what you say: yes, that might indicate the Earth is flat, but I believe each of those instances are also possible on a round Earth, given altitude and refraction.

Just want to point out that flight path's make zero sense on a globe and perfect sense on the azimuthal equidistant map. For instance take a look at the flights between South Afrika and Australia, or South Amerika and you have to admit that I am right. So unless airlines like to make extra distance (I don't have enough blind faith for that), we have to admit the obvious. That the earth is just flat.

What does it have to do with the flat earth? Maybe because flights in the nothern hemisflat could fly slower than planes in the southern hemisflat? To give the illusion, that we live on a spinning ball? (To cover up greater distances in the southern "hemisphere")
@MatthewWeathers

Good question. And I wish I had explained that a bit better in the video to make the connection. My answer: one of the ways to argue against Flat Earth is to show that flight times don't match a Flat Earth map (particularly Northern Hemisphere vs Southern Hemisphere routes, as you mention). A frequent Flat Earth response is that speeds, measurements, distances, and flight times are being faked somehow. My video only deals with one small part of this conversation: how fast planes fly. (And they even have a response to that: "planes are half as big as we're told!" they say... sigh.)

Captain Capslock, I think you’re on the right track. The accepted speed and fuel range of commercial aircraft limit how much FEers can push whole continents around the place in order to try to make their square peg flat earth map fit into the glaringly obvious spherical hole. So instead of going back to the drawing board on their model that failed to describe the observed world, they make planes go impossibly slow with unlimited range........I know right? 😆 It’s an unraveling mess their models. It has them chasing their tail.....as soon as they try to fix one aspect (by making planes apparently go slower etc) it totally unravels another. The latest thing is that it’s square like a postcard with a Pac-Man sun (again). It’s very funny 😁

Strawman arguments abound. Nobody I know disputes plane speeds or sizes. I study aircraft and the physics of flight, and plane crashes. They need to go fast enough to keep from stalling. The only flights in dispute are between southern continents. What we've found is that the flights between south America and Australia are few and far between, they require a specialized aircraft, they get cancelled often and they rely on the jet streams. The vast majority of flights from South to south continents travel far North of the equator. There is an absurd amount of flights that do this. You cannot debunk "16 Emergency Landings Prove Flat Earth" by Eddie Alencar. Available for free download from KZbin channel "Flat Earth, Banjo, USA, Japan, and Brazil"
@MatthewWeathers
@MatthewWeathers 3 жыл бұрын
No, it *wasn't* a strawman argument. This video was directed at two KZbin channels: "Enslaved by No Media" (run by David Mispilkin in Boston) and "Jason Maggard" from Puyallup, Washington. It appears like David took his channel down, and Jason has deleted some of his content, too. But I can assure you, both of them were making videos about how planes aren't flying nearly as fast as claimed. There aren't many flights in the Southern Hemisphere because only 12% of the world's population lives there. Eddie's video is easily debunked. And most things about the Southern Hemisphere are a major problem for the north-centric Dubay Flat Earth model with the North Pole at the center of a Flat Earth.

Tranquility Pyramids: The difference between thinking and knowing something is a very interesting question, and the subject of epistemology. Observation, testing, and verification are all important questions, as we try to figure out what counts as valid evidence for something. And your bring up an interesting example: NASA photos of the earth from the Apollo missions. For many people, that counts as solid evidence for a round earth. However, it sounds like for you, those don't count as good evidence. Although I didn't have time in this video to talk more generally about epistemology, I hope to talk about it more in a future video.
