My favorite card to pair with Damia Sage of Stone is Manabond. Green enchantment that says during the End phase play all lands in your hand and discard the rest of your hand. Then on upkeep Damia will draw you a whole new hand. It makes the deck wicked fast.

Love the show guys! Thanks for putting it on youtube, I know a much wider community will now find this and love it. I'm just getting into Commander myself, as it didn't exist when I played competitively in standard, but when I returned to Magic, I immediately thought "I want to make a super friends EDH deck!" Until I saw this though, I thought it would have to be a five color deck; but I think I like a Sultai version much better. I was doing some theory crafting and found that Proliferate is incredible in this deck and Lethal Vapors is close to broken.

XclozeX I'm a five color enthusiast but if I didn't go with that I think sultai is a very good option! We weren't meaning to imply that Damia was _the_ best commander for a planeswalker deck. It was just one possible way to go. James obviously chose it for his own reasons and his playstyle.

Great show guys. I love your podcasts. I use Child of Alara for my Superfriends deck. If you run Avacyn, Angel of Hope as the only creature in your 99 along with Oath of Druids and Gaea's Blessing, you can cheat out an Avacyn, then play and sacrifice your Child of Alara. Everything dies except your permanents, thanks to Avacyn. Plus, if you let your Child of Alara go to the graveyard, you can Oath him back to wipe the board every turn (A condition you can guarantee with forbidden Orchard). The deck is my opus, and it is such a dream crusher that my playgroup only lets me bust it out when we play EDH with an Archenemy (I even built my Archenemy deck to compliment this deck). Anyway, keep up the awesome work and thanks. :)

My Nahiri EDH Deck, in a few instances, I have had her Ult twice because I have learned ways of making myself not look like a threat, or making them believe that I can respond to what they play or do towards my side of the field.

there's a damia deck in my playgroup and there's a neat interaction I really like with Alhammarets archive. Damia says "draw cards equal to the difference" so you can potentially be drawing 14 off of her, which he regularly does.

For the emblem discussion as to if they go away if a player loses: they don't. From the Comp Rules: 113.2. An effect that creates an emblem is written “[Player] gets an emblem with [ability].” This means that [player] puts an emblem with [ability] into the command zone. The emblem is both owned and controlled by that player. 800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the game... So if Player A gives emblems to players B, C and D, then loses the game, the emblems created by player A stay on the board because they are owned by players B, C and D.

I looked up a ruling on Garruk, Apex Predator, and it states that in a multiplayer game, the emblem stays with the opponent even if you die. Rule 113.2 - The targeted player puts the emblem into play. The emblem is owned and controlled by that player. I am not a judge, but just looking it up in the rules.

Just a note about Doubling Season, one of you said that Doubling Season will make planeswalkers enter with double the amount of counters. However, one of Gatherer's rulings about the card says that planeswalkers will enter with the normal number of loyalty counters.

i like the show but i do want to let you know that the dragon noise you have when the subject change happens is a bit too loud compared to the general volume of the discussions and as such is really a bit obnoxious especially when it happens multiple times per episode, other than that keep up the good work

Can you do a video on chaos cards . Had a edh game last night 6 person it took 4 hours! Tons of wraiths and chaos cards such as I forget first name but last name is auction and it's mono red basically you exile all perms and the. Starting with caster you pick cards to put onto field . The card took 20 mins to resolve lol

The emblem belongs to the player it effects. So even if the player who made the emblem dies if the other player is alive they definitely keep that negative emblem

With Vraska and doubling season, you make SIX assasins, so anyone who doesn't have 5 creatures to throw in the way dies

brynt91 Lol - we've done a lot of budget decks. A superfriends deck is, by it's very nature, not budget. So we either don't talk about it or we don't worry too much about the cost for the purpose of this episode.

brynt91 As a commander? I think only Nissa or Liliana has a shot. And both are probably sub-par. I think either of them could be good within the 99 though.Gideon could maybe be the frontman for a super aggro strategy but since those aren't usually great in a multiplayer format, I dunno.

This is a nice video but you all are missing some very important tech. Doubling Season is nice but not the strongest method for winning with planeswalkers. Tezzeret the Seeker is the most important walker hands down. If you +1 him and he survives for a turn, you can -4 him to fetch Chain Veil strait to play. His +1 can untap the Chain Veil and something like a Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, or Grim Monolith. This effectively means you can use another planewalkers ability as many times as you have 1 mana. Imagine a scenario where you have every land that can tap to pluse/minus some other walkers abilities in that turn. You an go infinite planeswalker activations if you have an artifact that produces 4 mana (like an Everflowing Chalice). It is also incredibly important to understand that the Chain Veil creates an effect that can be abused if you have a walker re-enter the battlefield. If you activate the Veil 5 times in one turn and you let a walker die+return/cast it, or just flicker it, you can then activate that same walker again 6 times again without having to go use the Veil any further (his normal activation + 5 more from the previously activated Veil), since it is known as a new version of that permanent. In mono-blue with Teferi (walker) as your commander you can use him and Chain Veil to go infinite with just 10(ish) mana, since you can use his untap lands and re-cast him from the command zone. He is a new permanent and you can then activate his abilities again for however many times the Veil had been activated before. You are right that BUG is strong colors for tutor/ramp/draw/control, but you really only need a handful of walkers to make the deck win. An erratic deck with irregular wincons is nice if that is your goal, but a superfriends deck can be very powerful if you focus on finding the consistent combination to win with. So many walkers do not create a wincon, you only really need a small package. Something like Liliana Vess making discard into Rise of the Dark Realms or Jace the Memory Adept to draw/mill is really all it would take to win. An example if you are interested is the following video of my old grixis superfriends deck; kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5ungoyKlMqGopI I specifically excluded the easy combo potential, but per this video it is still important enough to mention.

Doubling season says "Whenever an effect PLACES counters." Planeswalkers enter the battlefield with the loyalty counters already on them, they are not placed on the planeswalker, so effectively Doubling Season does not do broken things with walkers. I dont know why everyboddy thinks it works its kind of obvious tat it doesnt

Unfortunately, repeatedly untapping The Chain Veil doesn't allow infinite planeswalker ability activations due to the very specific wording on the card. There are judge rulings floating around on the topic, early googled.

Has anyone ever thought of a super friends deck with Narset at the helm? I mean, you lose green and black, but Narset can cheat the planeswalkers into play. And you still get Teferi and The Chain Veil.

One of my friends has one, and it's pretty powerful. You really lose a lot by not having ramp, so a well-built green deck just goes right over the top. It also loses pretty hard to voltron, because of the slower play. Narset is powerful, but not quite up there in comparison to BUG/five-color IMO.

Noted. I still think Narset can work well in a super friends deck, so I don't want to go straight sultai. I may look into five color then. That way I get some ramp, more walkers, and can have Narset in the 99 to help cheat in a few walkers. Thanks.

This is a pretty silly gripe for me to have, I'll fully admit that, but does it bug anyone else when they say "in our format" as opposed to "in the format". It comes up a few times per episode and it just bugs me... lol

Damia does have 1 drawback. if you get mana screwed, your game is over, because you're never drawing cards again, you'll sit there with your 7 huge tramplers in hand and you can't draw any cards because you skip your draw step. So she's not all good. At least, with other commanders, you have a chance to draw lands, with her, you don't, if you don't get lasands every time you draw with her or creatures cheap enough to cast with the mana you had in your opening hand, you are done.

You can draw before you cast her, if you get 7 mana thats a decent amoumt for the game
