Planet Eclipse Etha 3M Review

Planet Eclipse is single handedly saving the sport of Paintball with the emek/Etha line. Seeing a lot of fields switching to the Emeks as rentals, which is awesome because the rental players are using the same markers that a lot of the typical open play players are using. It's a reliable platform that shoots amazingly well. Just picked up an Etha 3M myself. other than the foregrip bring a little thicker than I would like, it's a fantastic marker. there's nothing out there that is better for the money. I'd argue there is nothing better that is almost twice the price point

I’ve been out of the game for about 9 years now but when I sold stuff the Axe was the Best Buy out there. Glad to see mechanical stuff making a comeback though. This is a hell of a marker for $400.

I upgraded my Emek into what's effectively an Etha 3M before there was such a thing. I spent way more than $400 doing it too. That makes the 3M a steal at that price. I haven't played with my old Automags since either. For what's effectively an entry level to mid range marker these days, it blows the doors off of what was once considered high end.

Pick one up for my little brother, absolutely love it. Tell you what they are the best thing to do is get any clickable pen, cut the bring on the pain to the correct length and then swap it. You will get such a light trigger pull it is beautiful

Just won one on ebay for $325, I'm excited. My main is a dsr+ mech with all the free flow goodies and im pro kit and I'm rebuilding my ion as a gas thru mech, which before I took it all apart was one of my favorite mech guns that I've shot. Mech ftw!

Went from a fully decked Emek to the etha 3M first thing I did was swap out the trigger for an adjustable one, freak barrel kit and I have to say it’s a monster… I can easily walk the trigger for a constant 10bpb

Ended up getting one of these with the Inception EZ PZ on/off, Inception Secret pin and the Liquid PB Tension trigger. Absolutely perfect. I highly recommend getting the Secret pin for the FL 3 way and the Tension trigger is the only one made for Emeks (and 3M, same thing) that has externally adjustable spring tension (hence the name). It also takes the movement out of the firing pin. Inception also has the FLE bodies for the 3's now...so tempting.

For what you would have to d ish out on upgrades for an Emek 100, you would pay a lot more and still not have a better bolt release. The only thing the 3M needs is a better trigger. Glad they got rid of the PAL feedneck.

Hey now, I had a Shutter with a Boo-Yah e-trigger. I loved that thing. I was shooting further against Angel's with it. But this also woodsball. Speedball i had no chance. Was a lot lighter than my PMI 3/VM 68. But in all this 3m I really looking awesome. I am looking for a companion to my A5 for a back up.

I had a Spyder Extra (Magnetic Baby Blue) could hear the gun shoot 100 feet away. So I got the Mini GS and Spire 2 hopper it was a good game changer.

Now I'm thinking of getting an Etha 3M for my lady for a starter with an IR2 Hopper and get the ramper so you don't need to wiggle the balls in it to shoot it's a game changer for 13 bucks and it's easy to insert OMG!

i would get the etha 3m but there was a emek for 299 on sale with the protoyz speedster loader and shaft 4 14 inch barrel upgrade for the price of the gun itself. the fl 3 way valve is cool but a its a mech marker im not looking for speed and max bps with it i just wanna get the pops upgrade and the low profile hopper riser, basicly the same gun after that

The Emek/Etha platform is an amazing marker for the price. The Etha3M is not worth the scratch if you already have an Emek you have upgraded. The tooless back cap is not a big upgrade from the original, especially with all the available 3d printed back caps available today. Most of us have a GOOD barrel system. The actual Etha3M trigger is not much of an upgrade with only the one adjustment point. BUT if you do not already have an Emek, the POPS and FL3 are worth the extra 100 cost. Dead on reliable, easy to clean and service, accurate, the platform is the best mech we've seen since the original Cocker almost 30 years ago. Tippmanns are probably as reliable, but damn, servicing them is no picnick. And they will not be as easy on paint without MANY mods. My issues with the Etha3M basically come down to it being a "hot rod." Those of us who enjoy the platform have already done the trigger/POPS/barrel/FL3 Valve upgrades. And the loss of the PALS system is a bit of a downer, considering the PALS gets you out on the field with a very capable NO BATTERY AT ALL SYSTEM. Especially for mech. Love my Emek, no need for me to upgrade. But if you are not already fielding an Emek, the new Etha3M is definitely the way to go.

So I used be jelly of the electric Spyders. I see they still make it but it’s the 2012 fenix now. 2012 is a little old. Would this still be usable in todays paintball world? Is it worth buying? Can you review it and compare to the paintball markers of today?

They are out-dated, not made very well. But cheap, plenty of parts out there. I personally would say don't waste your money. Find a used all stock Emek for under 300.

I like my electronic etha 2 more than my cs2. Even with an after market trigger on my cs2 the etha 2 trigger is just so good. Rate of fire seem to be the same and my etha is a bit more air efficient. Plus I only play semi auto so I don't need all the ramping settings on the cs2 and my hopper keeps up just fine so if there is a difrence in the eyes I couldn't tell you. Etha is my main gun. I bring my cs2 just to flex and show I use the etha because I like it.

14in. Compared to the stock Emek barrel it’s much more accurate and definitely way quieter. Not really a noticeable difference between the CP and the stock Etha 3 barrel though.

It's a factory hot rod Emek. Just like a GT500, ZL1, etc. Things that most of us have already done to our Emek100. It's a great value for those just getting into mech or Emek shooting, but if you've already upgraded your emek, you're not getting anything special. The quick pull bolt is useless in real world use, and an aluminum feedneck losing the PALS is a downgrade if you like staying fully battery free. But the FL3, Shaft barrel, POPS alone are worth the extra 100 over the Emek. I'll keep my EMEK with FL3 and secret pin, pops, 3d skull back cap, your recommended EMACH trigger and whatever AC barrel I feel like using that day. I'll outshoot any loader slower than a Rotor anyway, but then again, MECH! save paint, save money. Can't go wrong with either, but the the Etha3M is the best mech value in paintball, possibly ever!

They are different as far as size and ergonomics. Having owned both, I dislike the grips on the M170R and the whole marker feels too tiny and light. The Emek is way more comfortable to shoot, but that's just me. You may like the feel of the M170R more.

Generally however I just shot a batch of .691+ sized Evil at an event a week ago. Big paint is still out there and you are better off just generally going with a larger bore for a stock barrel. The Gamma Core is also very good at saving air even with an overbore.

IMO this thing is WAY overpriced. I bought an emek a couple years ago and go the hair valve, fang trigger, feed neck clamp upgrade and red back piece for the bolt for well under $300. Only thing left would be to do a pops ASA.

The Emek 100 is still being sold, as a 'no-frills' and cheaper option. The Etha 3M is being offered for those who want an upgraded Emek at a bargain. Plus PE's running a promo where for an extra $40 you can add the Speedster loader with the Etha 3M. Tons of value there.
