Factorio. A game about space. The space between resources, like outerspace ya know. In between the planets where the resources are. But also the space between us, me and the crew of the USS Zisteauprise. We're just humans, see? We inhabit bodies. But also the space between the living and the dead, because Science Officer Svensen is dead, and I'm not. Rest in Peace Science Officer Svensen.

@5:35 The usual approach to this requester style is to set the combinator to negative amount of what you need ( in your example -100 ) and combine the storage amount. You won't need the arithmetic combinator and the enable condition on the other end now becomes "< 0".

Why not be direct and use no combined at all and just do "Good < 100" as enable condition on the inserter?

@@tschimbim because if power fails on the transmitter side, the receiver interprets that has "oh you have zero, let me send more"

This is for starter base scale science but in space, so only 90 science per minute. It should be more than fine until I rebuild the whole thing.

I really hope Zisteau uses cargo rockets as soon as they become the more efficient method of transporting stuff to space (which is after just a few rocket cargo reusability researches IIRC, he's not very far from it). Just cause I find cargo rockets way cooler than those cannons. Plus yeah, they are cheaper in terms of raw resources per stack transported. I've set up cargo rockets that carry many, many different items at the same time, and the circuitry challenge and the visual aspect of the resulting factory were awesome! Not sure if that's convenient for larger scales tho.

I've watched all of Z's Factorio series and streams for the sake of just watching Z have fun with a game he obviously loves, but have never had any interest whatsoever in playing this one myself--too much thinking when I just want to put the armor and weapons on a character and go pew-pew. This mod looks fun though!

Just so you know, you can produce vulcanite on nauvis via core mining, it's useful to have it to be able to go to space directly and start making space science. It's clearly not enough throughput to last very long into the game so you quickly end up going on a vulcanite planet anyway annd even earlier if you want to use the more effecient ore processing in the industrial smelters that uses vuclanite. Setting it up so it can last in the long run was an interesting challenge to me so i'd say it was 100% worth going with that path. (One other advantages i thought of watching the video is the fact that it allowed me to research the condenser turbine with the space science i made before going through my vulcanite planet,which makes nuclear power viable on waterless planet since for a 25% efficency loss it gives you 99% of the steam back as water so you actually need to send way less water for power)

Yeah I looked into core mining and I think I'll only use it as a last resort. I don't like having so many byproducts in a recipe.

I built a steam battery to handle the CME's, 1 electric boiler to fill 6 tanks w 500 deg stream, each tank connected to 4 turbines. Make 12 sets of these and make their power grid completely disconnected from your base power grid. Takes several hours to fill with Steam then it's always ready for the CME. When placing the Umbrella defense connect 1 side to your steam turbine bank and the other to your base. When not in use the base powers the Umbrella saving your steam. When the CME arrives disconnect your base power from the Umbrella defense, then the steam/turbine bank runs the Umbrella and your base doesn't run out of power. Enjoying your play-thru, good luck!

What sane person would build a dedicated 36000 accumulator grid just for the CME? This guy did just so I could measure the complete power curve. LOL Also word of warning for later on if you build nuclear power plants provide the pumps with an isolated power system because in the event of a brown out your pumps for you plant will go down and then your plant will crash. And no, I didn't find that out the hard way and have a panic attack...... Also eventually Spidertrons are great for doing remote construction on your various planets without having to lunch to them and be there first hand.

Those cannons take alot of power and are limited to what they can deliver. Don't forget to make those red balls also. Can't wait to see how he is going to tackle cargo rockets logic and logistics.

You’ll want to stop using delivery cannons and start using cargo rockets for vulcanite very soon, they are far more efficient

5:45 Constant combinators still work even without power so I think in a blackout the 100 signal would still get through

As a note, you can use vulcanite instead of solid fuel on the steam turbines.

You can also use the solid rocket fuel (not to be confused with solid fuel) unless the mod disables that feature

It looks like he's playing mostly blind, right? Sometimes it makes me a little frustrated to see he does some things ineficiently, but on the other side it's more entertaining to see him discovering things by himself :D

Yeah, Z goes into games/mods/experiences as blind as possible for the fun factor of exploring new things, the work is cut out for the stream mods to make sure nobody comes running in blabbing about stuff he'd rather discover on his own, haha. I'm sure it's frustrating for people to watch him overthink, overlook or just plain misunderstand things at first, but the payoff is the hilarious moment of realization on his part!

Honestly, I don't get why people complain that players who haven't played a game doesn't play it optimally. I think those people should just go watch speedrunners or people who replay the same game/mod many times, since they tend to know what they're doing. I very much agree that it's far more entertaining to see how different people solve problems, rather than just following the optimal meta.

For inverting a value I prefer to use [0 - item -> item] rather than [item * -1 -> item] personal preference.

You should put signal receivers to control when the cannons are firing. Remember to put the demand in the signal, not the supply. If you put the supply, if the planet loses power it looks like you don't have any and the cannon will fire continuously.
