Question.. Can't you just use this technology in existing vehicles itself? You can just replace the engine and powertrain with yours. In this way, you don't need to struggle selling new cars with this technology. Instead, you can convince customers to use this tech in their car itself with much cheaper price. Anyway, you might have thought about this concept and ditched it due to some reasons. May I know the reasons, please?

Thanks for the question! We have done this with our prototype vehicle, but this technology is still developing and has not been implemented yet in mass production. As we are an engineering company that strives to develop the best and most environmentally friendly technologies, we concentrate purely on R&D and then search for partners to implement the technology worldwide. Finding a good partner who can also advance the technology sometimes takes time. What has ultimately slowed down bringing the technology to the market has been the EUs uncertain situation with the combustion engine ban and the lack of knowledge regarding eFuels, which awareness is something OBRIST constantly aims to increase.

The point at 8:43 is very important and very few people seem to understand it. Everyone seems to have bought the Tesla hype that batteries will solve everything and every other technology should be banned because of lower efficiency.

I have a biggest question. Why you are not try this in commercial bus and trucks 🚛 . It can save lot of fuel .? They are easily adopt your technology comparing electric car .

You might see a Chinese version of this in three years, I doubt if Tesla will do it but you know the Chinese, they'll probably build a knock off Model Y with this tech for under $20000

Thanks for the question! At the moment we are in negotiations with several car manufacturers. Depending on the political front and the legislation regarding combustion engines, we expect that the technology will be on the roads in 3-5 years.
