A very unexpected creature! A couple weeks ago our nephews were over to do some work on their deer stands, and in the evening we watched their trail cam images. We saw something very unexpected! It is not an alien encounter or some swamp creature -- nothing like that. It is a black bear -- but black bears are not supposed to be in this area! Bears are found in Wisconsin, but their range is way north of here.

@@PlanetMojo I used to like to say "She has a PhD in woods." She was our (my boyfriend and me) mushroom picking partner in the deep woods and coastal mountains we came to know so well. She finished raising my bernese mtn dog X malamute pup from 4 months to 1 year, taught him how to swim (on her own), find water, negotiate difficult territory and stay oriented to us (as we wandered around, the dog kept track of us over a kilometer). In return, he took care of her in her old age as she lost sight and hearing. Lucy was his mama and it was a great sadness to him and us when she left us. Just greatful she and the big boy could live in total freedom as the masters of the woods they were.

Yes, the image is of a black bear! It is very unexpected because we do not have bear in this area -- they are at least 100 miles north of here, but it appears as though they are moving in! In fact, we have more cougar sightings than bear! It is a year later though, and it looks like the same boar is back -- this time a bit bigger. Unexpected Creature on Trail Cam Returns ― New Tree Stand and Blind -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGLHkKeLZsqlbcU He seems to come in early July so maybe this coming year I'll set out some bait to get some better pictures.

We have a young bear travelling in and about the yards out our way (mostly acreage) he stops to eat the apples that have fallen and then he's on his way.....all the neighbours leave him to his business. Living out on the land, one just gets used to seeing wildlife and give them our respect.

Make sure you keep the acorns in the fridge over winter in some damp vermiculite. By spring they'll have roots already and you can just pop them into some soil. Wow! That's incredible! Of all my hiking time I have only seen 1 bobcat and that was in central IL. I do a lot of hiking in the Walworth county area and have seen tracks of what looks like wildcats. As far as I know there are no bear in that area at all. I have been spooked by local sightings of cougars in the area last year. I don't usually carry a sidearm with me but may consider it now. I know the chance of an encounter is extremely low but still makes me nervous. That's really cool so to see!
@PlanetMojo

We see bobcats fairly often on their way to the Mississippi from the hills. A big one can be over four feet long, and are kinda startling to see! We had one that liked to race with cars on the back roads a few years back -- likely a young one just having fun. Bears are a different story though. We were talking with the farmer next-door who is a third generation farmer on that same land, and he was very surprised to hear about a bear sighting right next door!

Sasquatch could very well be on your property too. You will not catch them on your tree cams. But if you will take notice of the tree breaks, trident tree, X's. Be careful not to mess with their markers. Arches are another thing to watch and take notice if. This is not a joke and I'm dead serious. They don't like dogs either. If your dog turns tail and runs back to the house..please walk back to your house..don't run. If you see one tell it your just walking and taking in the beauty around you and please don't make me afraid. And I will do the same.

I prefer a revolver . Big bore revolvers 44mag or bigger. I carry 45 long colt. Or 454 casull . S&W 460. Or the S&W 500 GOOD CHOICE ALSO. Or ruger 480 . The ruger Alaskan snub nose big bore is a great choice. Or 4 5/8 barrel revolver . Anything longer is uncomfortable to carry all day
@DaTimbo
@DaTimbo 2 жыл бұрын
I think of it like what would I feel safe with if a Gut Shot Grizzly Bear ran into an outhouse with me in there . Now for me a 454 casull. It has more power with certain loads than the hard hitting 45-70 government. You can get the 454 casull in a rifle and a pistol. Plus the 454 casull will fire the 45 long colt as well. If you pair a rossi 92 with 18inch barrel in 454 casull caliber with a 454 revolver anything alive in North America will go down . You can hunt with both rifle and revolver in either caliber 454 or 45 long colt. If you decide to go with a 44mag it will also shoot the 44 special round. I wouldn't go with a 357 mag that will also shoot 38 special rounds. My opinion is 357 would be to small of a caliber for anything that size. But it's still better than a stick

OURv, in order for a trail camera to know when to take a pic of something walking past it emits an infrared beam of light used to detect movement. Sasquatch can see in different spectrums than us humans and they are able to see the infrared lights coming off. That is my belief as to why they never get caught on game cameras. These stealth forest tribes of people have very keen senses as they have spent their entire lives in the forests.

Don't dilute your bear sightings believing you don't have bears. I live in a southern suburb of Minneapolis and every year someone is siting multiple bears. Most go unreported to the authorities because people don't want the DNR killing them. When a bear gets destructive he gets reported. We also have mountain lions in the river bottoms.
@PlanetMojo
@PlanetMojo 3 жыл бұрын
I believe they are only seasonal now, but they will be year-round very soon as they run out of room north of us. We also have quite a few mountain lion sightings in the area. One of them was less than a mile from our place this last summer, and there is a lone wolf sighted every year for the last 8 or-so years now in the same area southeast of us. The area was hunted out pretty well in the first part of the last century, but the animals are sure making a comeback!

I don't know were you are but I'm in St Lawrence county New York bear here for many years were almost non existent. Now they are making a huge come back. So they are looking for better surroundings. When it comes to nature the studies and reports are wishful thinking.

We are in SW Wisconsin. The DNR told us that we will soon have a population here full time. Right now they are foraging here in the spring when the pickings are scarce up north, but the populations are increasing rapidly and it is likely they will soon stay in this area for good. Just 20 years ago you had to travel a long way north to be in bear country, but not any more.

Why not label video a lot of talking and bear sighting instead of creature I thinking big foot sighting or dog man but your talking bear
@PlanetMojo
@PlanetMojo 4 жыл бұрын
Because it is an unexpected creature on the trail camera. We don't normally have bears in this area. During that "lot of talking" that was explained. That's how talking works.

since 1932 ? That little tree ?
@PlanetMojo
@PlanetMojo 3 жыл бұрын
The tree age calculator estimates it's age at 159.3 years old (sugar maple CBH of 7' 4") so it would have been around 71 years old in 1932, and yes, you can absolutely see that tree and all of the other big ones in the areal photos, and overlay them over current areal photos. The larger oaks are in the 9' circumference range and may be around 180 years old but likely a bit younger because the oaks were growing in more savanna-like conditions for part of their life. You must live around very big tree if you think that tree is little 😊 -- tree ages can be calculated here: goodcalculators.com/tree-age-calculator/

I know this video is quite old and the situation has likely moved forward but I feel that you must know. Wolves and coyotes are known to interbreed. The offspring are called ''coywolves''. Also the same with domestic dogs and coyotes. The wolves and coyotes do this intentionally to expand the bloodlines. Coydogs and coywolves are becoming more and more bold. Coywolves especially have been found where coyotes have never been recorded to have lived. The wolf genes have made them more adaptable to severe weather. Never can tell. Keep checking with your wildlife and forestry departments to keep informed. You have a beautiful property. Best of luck.
