Great to see Laura nominating 'Plank Of The Century', Labour's London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, a man of towering and matchless incompetence. The very notion that BSE Khan - 'Blame Someone Else' - would have been anything other than totally useless at COBRA meetings is laughable. In EVERY aspect of his mayoral responsibilities, Khan has been a spectacular disaster, ie crime, police, transport, housing, etc. However, in all fairness, he has been 'successful' in increasing the GLA contribution within Council Tax, year on year, and is now gouging the pockets of the very people who voted him into office TWICE via the ULEZ expansion, his last ditch attempt to desperately balance City Hall's books ahead of the May 2024 London mayoral election. As for 'saving lives', more than 150 teenagers have been murdered during Khan's miserable 7 years in office, an average of more than 20 for each year. Let's hope we see Khan routed from office next May, packed off to the Lords and out of harm's way, recognised for his services to total and utter failure in office! Perhaps a 'Lifetime Unachievement' award from Talk Radio?

In the big coffee-table-like books on WWII compiled from glossy, black-and-white photos of the Time Life collection back in the 1980s/1990s, as 50th anniversaries occurred, there was one from late 1944/1945 that I guarantee was never in their magazines, as it showed a naked, screaming woman with not a stitch on but shoes, arms outstretched, and just wide eyed in terror amidst Soviet soldiers standing around smiling or just unconcerned--no one moving so much as to to throw a coat around her. I haven't looked at that book in over 20 years but have NEVER forgotten it! I can only imagine the horror and terror those women felt having NO WAY to escape those men who had literally dropped out of the sky on them AND their children, and I don't need the results of a rape kit to know what TORTURE they endured just at having to THINK about what was coming to them and (far worse) their CHILDREN in the seconds/minutes before the violence actually hit them! That includes the sexual violence, which has been used in EVERY conflict with men able to get civilians as targets as far back as we have records, because war violence involves training men's humanity away and then having them apply inhumanity to such a degree it is understandable some incidents happen; yet that goes to a completely different level when really bad guys are ENCOURAGED! So, here's what I think; all those saying we don't have "proof" of Hamas' crimes and disputing what happened 7 October 2022 because it's all evil Israel and free Palestinians to consider. should be the volunteers for those Now, I have very complicated feelings about photos like that, because my family was traumatized in ways that continue to this day by film footage shown on the news and then put into stills in Life with my father lying wounded in Vietnam in 1966 that was in a set giving rise to one of the most iconic covers/spreads of the whole war and that followed my mother seeing the footage ON the news and having to wait THREE DAYS to find out my father was still alive (thankfully, or I wouldn't be here)! That was even though she was both an Army wife and daughter who'd taken my older sister and gone to stay on post with HER parents instead of staying at the one where my father was stationed before deployed. All my grandfather could ultimately do was let the chaplain know the situation and ask him to come get him first so they could go tell my mother together my father was killed, which is honestly what he was expecting after what they saw and he'd discovered about the battle. I became a military historian because all of the influences of multiple generations of career enlisted making their way through Uncle Sam's need for contract killers letting them claw us out of poverty and into the middle class but most especially finding out that whole story behind the photos. It only happened because we were watching what was then the new show Quantum Leap suddenly flash the photo in its credits that made my mother gasp in absolute shock and my father cry out, "Whoa! That's the one I'M in!" I knew something about him being shown on the news the first time he was injured and that she didn't watch the news, only listens, because she's STILL afraid of what she'll see and won't be able to unsee. She'd always linger over cleaning the kitchen until the news was over and then settle on the couch with sewing or whatever while we watched whatever was on TV. I was a freshman in college not far away--in the first generation ever to make it--and changed my major as soon as I got back to school, going from an English major to historian specifically because of that experience. In particular, I became an oral historian trying to document experiences in ways that let the SOLDIERS and families tell the stories themselves with their own accounts and pictures THEY had and took. If you're wondering what that has to do with the naked and screaming woman, it was quite clear TO ME and anyone who has heard/read testimony about Soviet punishment rapes as they took Eastern Europe the photo had clearly documented and even had a blurb about those assaults, although the details of why I was looking at such material actually does go deeper and again is more personal. I guess to the Hamas apologists, such evidence doesn't count unless accompanied by a rape kit! Yet few women who heard those stories found themselves simply unable to believe such a thing could happen whether or not they'd seen the pictures. See, another event searing my mother's experiences in a military family came much earlier, when my grandfather was stationed in Alaska when she was a girl. It was the height of the Cold War, before Alaska was even a state, and of course they were aware of just how close the Soviets were. My mother and her little sister were not really concerned with that at first, though, just being kids as you are when young; my mother HATED always moving and having to change schools and meet new people but at first thought that was the biggest problem she had. She and my aunt still laugh when they talk about silly things that happened, like getting in trouble because they kept sneaking the crackers and chocolate--the only decent things--out of the emergency rations kits they were supposed to have on hand in the family's designated shelter, which would get discovered when things got tense and inspectors suddenly popped around to check it was all tip top--as if the crackers would matter when WWIII started or atomic bombs were going off! However, one bitterly cold day around one of those tense alerts, she found herself stuck inside with not much to do for entertainment than eavesdrop on my grandmother yapping to the other post wives over playing cards, and she heard her tell the other women that the Russians would NEVER get to HER girls or HER while ALIVE! Thankfully, my mother never had to find out if that was hyperbole/more of the usual bunch of basic bull or reality, but you can imagine what that did to her child's and girl's mind, as she was no longer sure she could trust HER mother, who was a hypochondriac not all that useful before then! That's why when my grandfather had deployed for Korea, he sent a postcard from the train station telling her to be a good girl and take care of her little sister, which she internalized as her job she always considers, so there she was trying to think what SHE was going to do to save my aunt AND her running away from home and the Russians in Alaska!!!

Dunning-Kruger is flawed and rejected. It is not used or referenced in any legitimate academic circles due to concerns about the research methods and statistical analysis. The notion only appears and pops up time to time when lazy hack journalists, who haven't done their homework, try to use the 'concept' to tarnish those who's opinions are not aligned to the mainstream driven dogma.
