I look forward to the build! Maybe setup camera for time lapse recordings.

Get a square man-way on the MT that you can use a garden rake in. If you have the false bottom level with the bottom of the man-way then graining out can be done into a bin externally and no need to get as mucky.

Only thing I can see is when performing a bend when the bottom section moves up well won't your whole sheat move up making maybe it hard to bend right on the spot you want? When the top section comes down to do the bending I'd imagine it would make life a lot more easier.

I considered this, I'm hoping it will be 6 of one and half a dozen of another.

Wow that’s some project for 2022 and a good one at work that, to add my 2 pence into the mix I know nothing about it all. Wish you all the good luck in making all these new additions to the brewery, look forward to seeing the new build. Cheers.

Hi mate , I've watched you build some mad stuff over the years and look forward to watching the new venture. One thing , I've made quite a few cones using press's worth over 100k and they are still a challenge . A fraction out on one end and you will end up with a peace of modern art. The time and money you will need to put into the build you could pay a fabrication shop to do it and take the headache. Something tells me that all I'm doing here is motivating you to have a crack at it lol

I built tanks of all sizes from a coil and sheet . From the coil you just work the ends to the required radius pre welding. Build the domes/ cones from sheet and layout the development.

Well....aren't you clever! Planning to load those new barrels up with strong ale. Do you plan to construct the manways yourself, or purchase them? They would seem to be fiddly to construct? (The covers and seals.)
@harrybrew692 жыл бұрын
I will buy the manways from my mate Andy at www.gcstainless.co.uk/ in Manchester.

Hey mate, a few things to consider for your press. Stainless is a harder grade material the your average mild carbon steel. The size of the V can matter. Typically the rule of thumb we use at work is 4 times thickness of what your pressing to get sharp press lines. Having 130ish different plates seems like a nightmare for pressing a cone, if anything is misaligned and it's pressing unevenly it would be very hard to recover. Fine adjustment limit switches are a must if you want the repeatable presses required for a cone. Looking forward to these builds, your last brewery build was inspirational. 🍻

I'm always impressed by your skills and I'm sure you can do this. I did some quick math without the use of a calculator when I saw your volume in liters and that comes to something like a 20bbl system when using US numbers. I'm a halfwit so my math could be wrong. What I didn't see is how you will heat your BK and your HLT. Electricity does not seem efficient at that size. Also, how will you stir a mash tun that large? I'm sure you'll build a genius level set of automated rakes. You asked for advice, so I'll throw in one thing: Make sure your manway on your MT is high enough so that you can roll some kind of grain collection bins into place. Also, if you build a rake system make sure you have a reverse setting so you can use it to rake grain out the manway into bins. Build a false bottom that can be removed in sections through the manway. Nevertheless, I'll eagerly watch.

We should be closer to 10 or 12 bbl of final product. working back from a bottle neck of the boiler, 2500 litres gives plenty room for boil off and brewhouse losses. My old kit was 12bbl, I designed this one also and will do a lot differently this time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p53Qdp-KqNGWnsU&ab_channel=HarryBrew69

I am like you in many ways and would build the press because I could. But that is a waist of time and money. Get a used tank big enough, rework it. Get the parts from a metal workshop you trust and like. They will help you get there. The cost is the weld and the stainless. Not the bending.
@harrybrew692 жыл бұрын
Hmm, A few problems with that. Used tanks are almost the cost of new here. There are no workshops near me that can do this and I also want to do it. So that's the plan.

@@harrybrew69 I went google on UK, lol. You are absolutely correct on those prices. I guess the used press marked is also expensive in the UK. Good luck with the builds, I lend you a hand If I where in the UK.

First of all, I love the vid! I’m probably missing something, but if the dies are going to bend the steel upwards, why does the bottom support for the jacks need to be off the ground? Also, I’m thinking that if you reversed the dies (swap top with bottom), the bend would be down and let gravity help a bit with the bends. Obviously in that case the Jack’s need to be adjustable. Can’t wait to see it come together 👍
@harrybrew692 жыл бұрын
The bottom support can be wherever as long as there is one. I could swap the dies, but with the bottom die only being XXX off the floor it would limit what I can put in it. Bending up, the sections can be as long as I like. All good points though and I am trying to design it to be as hackable as possible. Cheers
