My Huskamute was 15.5 years old when he passed here in Florida. I was always cautious about when I'd walk him, especially in the summer. He'd do 2 miles in the morning and 1ish miles after the sun set up until he was 15. Just have to feel it out a bit, I know the UK is cooler than where I am. He'll tell you what's comfortable for him. Many pats/hugs to Sherp from me, so glad he's still doing so well. His book sits on my coffee table for when I need a bit of cheering up.

In Ohio, we can get pre-made sheds of various sizes that are cheaper than having one built on property. You would create the base for it. Comes out lots cheaper. They also have kits that you buy and put together yourself.

I would buy a big greenhouse instead and place it alongside the road. Then you get something practical to store in, somewhere to plant tomatoes, a sound barrier against the traffic noises and give the garden more privacy, plus it's pretty.

Jamie, we have a container in our back garden, and we painted it and grew fast growing vines up it. No one even knows it’s there, and the vine is green in the summer and bright red in the fall. Just a thought. I don’t like missing out on a view either. 😊

If you get a storage container or build something depending on the size and height speak to your councils planning department, if you don't and they find out and deem it to be to big they will tell you to get rid of it or tear it down.

Jamie is really making me want to have a "wood burner" in my next house! We had one in one of our homes when I was a kid but it was HUGE and I hated having to clean it out. It was a throwback from the days when people actually cooked (or at least heated) food and tea/coffee up on the top of it. Ugh. Jamie the second shed is ideal for a tool shed and outdoor garden room , just build a wall between the first and second opening for your tools and lawn mower ,the other two openings could be used as an outdoor entertainment area with garden furniture that's covered for when it rains or when it's too hot without any shade .

The air conditioning might be a good advanced plan for the summer, but at the moment, even though Cornwall is at least 2 degrees C warmer than my house is, it's still not warm, but with your wood burner should be OK for now. Well done for fore-thought!

Jamie, I have a couple of suggestions. Having someone build those type of building is expensive. SO, why not look into pre-built sheds...large ones....and then you can connect them and add a roof. Or look at a pergola and use fabric or vines to cover it. All those things can be pretty much pre-made and then you put down a slab, put the sheds on it. Then the only thing left is to have someone connect them or add the roof.

All these wonderful ideas you have, now you have a lovely new home, Sherpa is SO happy just wandering his domain. If you are thinking about getting a container, please check you do not need planning permission, since it is a more 'permanent' construction than a shed (also check with your neighbours that they have no objection to a metal 'monstrosity' next to their property). If you are thinking about a larger shed/worshop, some garden centres do lovely 'summer houses', and work spaces, also check for 'second hand' ones - but don't forget you still need a solid base to put one on :) For his Lordship Shepra, have you thought about getting a doggy buggy for him, for exploring new places? He can still get his walks/sniffs, but then ride when his legs get tired, and let his minion do the hard work :D . Love watching your videos, The Snow Dog and the Robin was brilliant

Lucky so and so's you two getting snow, even a little bit. 🙂 The idea of an outhouse/work shed/summerhouse I think is a brilliant one, considering all the space you have to play with. Personally I'd have it where the existing shed is, as you'd catch that sun and the views. I'd also have a go at building it from scratch … I know that seems and sounds pretty daunting, but it's not quite as hard as you might think, if you prep for it well enough and budget for it properly. I've surprised myself a few times now making such things with the VERY limited knowledge I started off with. You will make mistakes that's a given, but that's half the joy of learning how and there's nothing can't be fixed so long as you don't let it defeat you. Ambition knows no bounds so long as you don't get too disheartened when things go wrong. Making small buildings out of all sorts of materials and even scrap that folk leave behind, (Yes, I sound like a Womble ) REALLY gets the body and mind tuned in, it's hard work certainly, but not too much if you give yourself the time and don't rush it. Knowing YOU made it, you'll already know how that kind of thing brings immense satisfaction Jamie. It can require the odd bit of help from another set of hands at times, but I've found generally not as much as I'd thought it would. Even the existing shed you have now, could become the starting point for a larger shed to be built on to it. Make a larger level foundation, (Sounds hard, but isn't surprisingly to me when I did it) extend the shed out and up, (The trickier bit) using roughly the same materials, follow the same construction it already has and then pop a new roof on it. I'd maybe reinforce and insulate and whack a few old second hand windows in. Electrics and heating, always leave to the experts if you're going to have those in. I grant you this is all very easy for me to say, much less easy for anyone to actually do, but the shed that's already there, makes a great little 'how too guide' in itself. Might be worth a look around you tube at vids for "building a basic outhouse/shed/summerhouse" There's a fair bit of it to look up and maybe gain idea's, if this at all brings food for thought. Worth noting, ALWAYS check your planning regulations BEFORE a build.
