@@kathleenhall523 I have Wintergreen in Ontario zone 5. It survived the winter. Maybe minus 20 at times.

Awesome plant profile! Here in California we have another plant that is also called wintergreen, but belongs to another genus: Pyrola picta. It is listed as a member of the Ericaceae, but sometimes as a member of the Pyrolaceae.

Thanks to this superbly informative video, I now know that the creeping, evergreen groundcover with red berries growing next to a highway in my neighborhood is definitely _not_ wintergreen. Still no idea what it is, though ;-)
