Oh Dani, I adore your grow room tour, it brings me such peace. I don't know about you but this hobby has truly saved my mental health. I have about 100 orchids and when I feel stressed I go to my plants for therapy and comfort. I get more enjoyment being part of this hobby than going out and spending money on senseless things. Am I the only that feels that way? MOG community let me know if you guys feel the same way. Keep the tours coming and please if you can somehow video the outside setup without violating your neighbors privacy, I would love to see. Congratulations on your 401k subs! Girl…I so understand how you feel about being overwhelmed with cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning. I, like you, am a plant addict. That addiction alone dirties up my home like crazy! In the spring, summer and fall I spend HOURS and HOURS gardening in my backyard. I track in dirt, mud, and plant debris all day long! To find me in the house, all you have to do is follow the dirt trail! Then, on top of that I have several violets, and I propagate them constantly. I have hundreds of starts! That creates mess several days a week! And NOW, I’ve become an orchid addict as well! I only have 7 so far. But I know me, and can foresee many more in my future. I have probably 50-60 other indoor plants as well. (More messes!) But to top it all off I also breed and raise Lady Gouldian and Society finches in my living room. I have two large single space cages, as well as a triple decker 6 unit breeding cage, with about 40-50 finches at a time! SEED messes are the worst! I track seeds all throughout my house on the bottom of my feet. And nowI too feel like my whole life is cleaning and taking care of everything and everybody. I understand that my life would be freed up if I’d give up my plants and birds. So I understand that I brought this overwhelmed feeling upon myself. But I LOVE my bird and plant babies!! I’ve decided one thing that would help so much is a vacuum cleaner like yours. To be able to use one, I first have to organize all my cords and get them up the floor. That will be a major job in and of itself!!! Wish me luck!!!!

I couldn’t agree with you more about the cleaning! I also need to add working in the kitchen as very time consuming because I try to only serve whole foods. Your grow space is amazing and beautiful! We live in central Florida and my orchids are all on our pool deck where they do quite well. Thank you for your videos. I’ve learned so much from you!

Ugh I’m so jealous of your robot vacuum! I’ve been asking for one for years. I have 3 big double coated working breed dogs, 2 cats, a 6 year old daughter, an indoor pond and an outdoor pond both with fish and tons of plants. AND I own a dance studio. I SO feel you on the physical toll that it takes to clean both my house and studio. Did I mention I have some health issues? Anyway, thank goodness for plants and pets because they help make everything better. Loved the plant room tour.

The vacuum robots are wonderful! I'm really enjoying your lovely plant room. When we downsized a couple of years ago my plant space has become really limited... but I do enjoy them! Going to an orchid club meeting tonight and hope to buy one or two Paphs! I can't wait!

Ok, I got one unknown Paph with a couple of fans, three Oncidium starts (unpotted and free), a rather stressed looking little Cattleya with a fancy name and a one growth bulb of a Wilsonaria that came with a name and a picture - should be gorgeous! We'll see how I do with the Oncidium and the Wilsonaria. Do I need to be careful with those to position them so the new roots hit media right away? And, oh, they were inexpensive and came with free bugs! Sadly their previous owner is ill and unable to care for them.

I love the mixture between the plants, the aquariums and the birds. Did you loose or get rid of part of your orchid collection? I remember a tour where 400+ orchids completely filled the room. Now you added the tanks, cages and houseplants and there's still so much space, even with the vandas and Cattleyas outside...

Hi Danny, this tour of your grow room was very pleasant, taking care of the plants and aquariums must keep you very busy but rewarding at the same time. I am a beginner at growing orchids and that alone requires a lot of my time especially with watering every 4th day, I am wondering how to reduce the amount of work it requires (?) Maybe by converting to semi hydro ? But then how many orchids will dye in the process ? Thanks Danny.

What a wonderful room!!! Thank you for sharing it with us! It occurred to me that if the crack in the aquarium worried you you could probably do a repair with a UV resin (similar to car windscreen repair). I know that you aren’t going to use it as an aquarium but the resin would stop the crack from getting bigger over time or if the whole thing is bumped or something. Much less expensive than buying a new aquarium if it breaks!

@MissOrchidGirl I have repaired acrylic tanks with cracks just like that using cyanoacrylate (super glue) and a DROP of liquid catalyst for acrylic nails, and raised some lovely African tetras for years after repairing. You need the glue to seep inside the crack and then the liquid catalyst causes a heat reaction that does an amazing job of sealing. I wouldn't use this for breaks or cracks with missing pieces. I devised this trick when working a large aquatic ornamentals import/export in California.

Lovely update video! Enjoyable. I have lots of plants, birds and a dog so cleaning is a large daily chore. I always passed on the robotic vacuum because I thought it would freak out my birds. Do your birds react to the vacuum? My birds hate my Dyson I use to daily vacuum. They hate both the upright and the canister type, guessing its the sound of the motors. Is the robotic vacuum loud? I’d love to add fish tanks to my home but more work isn’t what I need right now, maybe in the future because your fish are gorgeous!

Hi, my doves were a bit nervous for like 2 minutes, then they didn't care. They're usually the type of birds that get adjusted super fast. My parrot might be a bit scared for longer, but I think she would get used to it. It's not as loud as a normal vacuum and has power settings, it can get quite silent. The movement is the issue with birds, but they can get used to it I believe. It can be scheduled to vacuum at night too, so if you cover the cage they won't even see it!

Hi, yeah I do have a girl that comes from time to time, but it's like a quick 2 hour thing, the rest of the time I do the tidying up, dishes, cooking, washing, extra vacuuming etc. Also that's recently and certainly not in the lockdowns we've been through in the past 2 years so, it's like on and off help that does matter! But it's not the majority of chores 😋

I have not seen pests yet but Bette be prepared 😀 I have 5 phal (3 from the store + 2 rescues). 4 of them are pushing out flower spikes and I CANNOT BELIEVE IT👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 One of them pushed a flower spike at the beginning of Spring once the flowers was done, the spike did not dried out and now it continue to grow while pushing out a new spike. I did not cut the spike because it stayed green but I was wondering if it is too much work for the Orchid. What do you think?
