She didn’t die due to the ghost, she died choking to death on the lime lifesaver because she layed down and the lifesaver moved in her throat, because it takes 10-20 seconds to go down your throat, and because she wanted to seem big and mature and she was too embarrassed and didn’t want to seem irresponsible and she tried to lodge it out herself, and she died. The reason why the lifesaver was never discovered in the autopsy was because of her last movement it dislodged and went into her stomach.

She suffocated on a Lime-Flavoured Lifesaver, likely because she didn't want to seem like a "Baby", and tried to act tough in front of her Brother by ignoring the problem and hoping it went away... Which it only did in the last moment of her life.

I know its been a month but here is my theory on how mr tombs died, in this story its said furnace is in a cellar, there are multiple things stored in the cellar like wine, coal, potatoes, food. Now I'm specifically saying potatoes because after they rot they give out a "poisonous gas" which can easily kill a person after inhaling it and before you say "ah you nerd you ruin the perfect horror story or but then the person who found him would die aswell" well chances are he left the doors open and windows open meaning gas could easily just *poof* gone
