Still can't fully make up my mind about Bryan Johnson, but I do like that he seems to have a sense of humor about the whole endeavor.
@someguy2135
@someguy2135 15 сағат бұрын
One example of his sense of humor is the fact that many of the videos on his channel especially the short ones find him wearing a shirt that looks more like what a toddler would wear except that it fits him properly. I'm guessing that's his tongue in cheek reference to trying to turn back the clock on his aging

He's definitely a businessman and looking to make profit, which is fine, but when he first came out he was trying to make it seem like he was some kind of humanitarian and was just doing all this out of the goodness of his heart. I had a strong feeling that he was going to be selling products soon after, and sure enough he started to.

I remember seeing a thing a while back about some guy saying that Johnson held him prisoner in his house, but when I tried to find more info on it, it was like all the articles had been rescinded and idk if that was because they had the wrong Bryan Johnson or if there was actually something to it.

I've been following this guy for years, and my thoughts are that he is genuine. Not the least reason is that I've become borderline obsessed with health for the past 12 years and reached many of the same conclusions. Bryan is a real benefit to science and the health and planet conscious folks who don't have the millions to invest in this kind of experimentation.

This is something hard to imagine for most people, since most of us never get into his position. But when you have made over 800 mil. dollars. You're truely free and can really just do whatever you want. There is really no need for him to make more money. Like the video said: He makes everything sustainable with almost no profit margins. He said many times: "Buy my products or buy someone else's. I don't care. But my products are tested for the highest quality".

The goal post will also move. It’s a never ending cycle. Again, while acting like he’s not running a business for profit. He most certainly is. This guys whole life revolves around it. Constantly filming his life, earning revenue from KZbin, and all of his businesses related to his lifestyle that generate an income.

@@KasKade7 The things you're mentioning are marketing strategies, you know it, right? They are really pushing the overseas market. (I wonder how well his overpriced snake oil will perform in the Mediterranean regions, when better or same quality is available cheaper and without much transportation. And under the Diary of a CEO podcast and other similar places video and anywhere else Kate was heavily pushing their products. And look who she is... Of course she will claim everything was super when lived the Blueprint way for their trial. If they have released her actual before and after data I haven't found it. Note I'm not saying BP doesn't work or BJ is a crazy quack. All I say is that it's all a big marketing campaign. What he is pushing is better than if he wanted to be a competitor for The Coca-Cola Company or PEPSICO and have their own line of cokes and sodas and chipses, of course. He is also admittedly better than most companies in the health and health supplement business. But that's all the way I see it.

At 49 years old I went vegan over night. I am now almost 62. Two years ago I found out I had extremely high blood pressure. Then I had a stroke. I am a Vegan. I lived despite my vegan diet. High BP was caused by Sleep Apnea, "while I was sleeping". LOL I actually wrote a book, but I was un-able to edit/publish it. I was lucky to live but with much less function. Being a Vegan saved me. I thought I was aging perfectly. Growing younger with every day. But had I visited a doctor, perhaps I might have avoided the Stroke. Plants don't lie. Don't eat flesh! 12 years vegan helped me age less, but that is not all you have to do to stay healthy. Sleep Apnea is a killer! Today I wear a full mask to sleep and I wake up with "Helmet" hair, but at least I have some Hair. 49 years of beating up my body, I wish I would gone Plant Based years before! Better late than never!

I agree, Brian Johnson has been unfairly ridiculed in the media. This was a very interesting trip into the Don't Die movement. I cannot help wondering though if it the name "don;t die" is the best moniker. Everyone needs to die at some point, if everyone lived forever (or another 30-40 years past normal life expectancy) the world population would accelerate. We already have exceeded the carrying capacity of the planet with all our wants like flying from halfway across the world to attend an event like this. I think "Be healthy" or something like that a better name for the movement. Healthy aging and a vegan diet and simple uncomplicated life without alot of consumer demands and dramatically less invasive healthcare to prolong life would be better for the planet. Also, no mention of a life partner and/or social interaction which is so important to healthy ageing. Clearly Brian is a well adjusted social guy, but was there any talk about how his fellow hackers can create community? I would love to see more health related community building tools in our towns and cities so this becomes the social norm and it becomes easier to make healthy choices.

"I mean they do for crash testing but not overall" Yeah it's almost like the regulation is specific to health and human safety, which is why "anything we take that's bioactive" has to go through rigorous testing... The idea of a private FDA is dumb. Sacrificing human health and reliable information on effectiveness for the sake of efficiency is so blatantly in favor of supplement companies at the expense of consumers. I'm sure many of you have read Marion Nestle's book Food Politics (I found it through this channel). I think it's irresponsible to villainize regulatory practices just because they're inefficient (by design). It stinks of private interest to me...

A) Seems culty. B) All the recommendations seem sound, even if they overinterpret the data a bit. C) Centering an entire identity/movement on living longer (it's techno-utopianism/longtermism adjacent) seems ill-advised, but perhaps this is a predictable response from otherwise well-adjusted people in a society where ill health is systemic. D) Stop it with the "AI" nonsense.

Only 93-94% of humans who have ever been born have died (estimated 105-117 billion births and 8.2 billion still living). How to think of that “fact” is a philosophical question. If you are open to living indefinitely, it changes your perspective on life, how you care for yourself and others, and how you care for the world around you. Maybe give some thought to why you are motivated to convince people that they WILL DIE. Does it make the world a better place? You do know that there is life on earth that doesn’t follow the same patterns of aging and death that our human ancestors have, right? Our cycle of birth, aging, and death is not the only way that life happens. I’m personally not convinced that this pattern can/will change for humans or that it would be “good” if it did. But we will learn a lot and likely improve quality of life and healthspan by pursuing lifestyle and therapeutic longevity. Do you mean to discourage people from trying to live longer, healthier lives? Do you think that is a waste or misguided effort?

This was a fantastic video and a great introduction to Brian! I see a lot of negative comments here-look, you don’t have to agree with someone entirely, but personally attacking him when most of his diet and decisions are based on sound science is kinda weird. He’s not spreading junk science like the carnivore community or other influencers selling false promises. He’s advocating for a healthy vegan diet, sleep, and so on. Personally, I don’t agree with the blood plasma thing and the olive oil. It’s not the blood plasma but actually just the water in blood transfusions giving that effect; what he did was based on old science. But hey, good luck sifting through thousands of papers on so many areas, even with a team. That’s why healthy, science-based discussions and sharing resources are important. Plant Chompers is a great example, and I expected more friendly communication from the commenters here. We can learn a lot from Plant Chompers as well as Brian Johnson. Communication is key.

I really appreciate the video. A few things stood out to me that I find concerning, particularly regarding the presence of plastics, forever chemicals, and heavy metals in our food sources and the manufacturing process. Additionally, I believe we need more conversation around the science, not less. Censoring people we disagree with isn’t the solution. If you believe someone is wrong scientifically or is spreading misinformation, the answer is to engage in dialogue, not censorship. I think this video is helpful, and what Bryan is trying to do is commendable. However, we should be wary of those who seek to silence differing opinions.

My grandfather lived to 104, never developed dementia and was never wheelchair bound. He didn't pay much attention to his diet -- ate mostly fruit and oatmeal for breakfast and hospital food for lunch (he was an MD), and potatoes, vegetables and beef or fish for dinner. At his 100th birthday party (with a couple hundred friends) I asked him about his diet. He said he eats just about anything but never too much. He was never overweight. He didn't consciously exercise, though he enjoyed walking in the park. He had many friends and was always cheerful and friendly in spite of facing death every day as a forensic pathologist. I do question the critical thinking capacity of a billionaire who is trying to live forever as humanity plays with the idea of WW3. Too much focus on the individual might overlook the collective pattern, and in a sense, the collective will make their problems your problems if you ignore them long enough. But then again, healthy bodies and minds are more capable of finding solutions to the problems between various nations. If you can give billionaires immortality, they might be more inclined to help the masses, lest they revolt. I also do question the desire to live forever. This guy has a childish obsession with measurements, and he's part of the trend of very shady companies offering MRI scans that you don't need. Over-diagnosis using MRI can lead to some terrifying mistakes. Which is why we only do them when absolutely necessary and only if we have a hunch about what's wrong. Even then you need to redo an MRI because false positives galore. Obsessive measurements harm not only our wallets, but our mental state. We all reach the end at some point.

I am naturally skeptical about movements like this. Often it is little more than someone who hit the genetic lottery promoting some possibly beneficial diet or supplement as the cause of their health. Some of this may be true here, but I certainly cannot determine that from watching a video on KZbin. Especially not when it is a video of a gathering of mostly true believers who themselves mostly look like they too are genetically advantaged. It does sound like much of what he is promoting is beneficial, and I am in agreement about eating a plant-based diet and getting plenty of sleep. But whether or not the benefits of purchasing supplements and expensive olive oil are more than marginal is unknowable without broad testing. This also seems elitist, to a degree. It can hardly be said that a movement that is economically off-limits to most of the world's population, is anything but. I do not agree with that "libertarian" idea of bypassing the FDA and other regulatory agencies and letting the people be their own guinea pigs. (This sounds like what one of his speakers was suggesting). I do find that following a healthy diet and lifestyle is conditioned by social norms. It is my opinion that most people who abandon vegan diets do so because of indirect peer pressure. People need companionship and social engagement. I follow a plant-based diet, and have almost abandoned eating out with friends because of the dearth of healthy options where I live. I hang on, and have found a way of building a social life that doesn't depend on meals, but many people do not. In this matter forming this "cult" (if you will) of adherents, gives many people that group acceptance that makes healthy eating better. But it also isolates these people from the rest of society. I also don't see how this can be used to promote general well-being through plant-based diets, as supplementation and membership is a priority. Thank you folks for looking into this, and I greatly appreciate the channel's efforts to promote healthful eating in a way that is not exclusionary or expensive.

@@asprinklingofclouds Brian is 47 years old now. If most causes of age related death are cured over the next hundred years, he has to survive until he is 147 years old. Also she did not adjust supplements, food and live style to the newest scientific standards. Is that enough for him to reach the age of 147? I don't know, but it does not seem impossible to me. Loved this video; Bryan's doing interesting work, seems a genuinely nice person despite a complicated upbringing and background. Also his sense of humour is a good trait!! I say long live this Snake Oil salesman!! Interesting to see all the so-called carnivores coming out of the woodwork again (worming their way lol) but so great that neither this channel nor Bryan rise to the hate comments. Laughter and sleep definitely two of the best medicines!!
