Hi Mary I know of another quick more natural way to "age" terra-cotta pots, rub spoiled milk on them. It's gonna be stinky for a short while but the pots as you water your plants the pots will get that white aged patina and start growing green moss on the outside. I just love this method and it's more organic. Try it out you'll love it. TFS

Hi Mary, I’m new to gardening. And I was told that that it isn’t safe for the plants 🌱 if you paint inside the pot... I see many people do it, but I haven’t tried it. What’s the best advice you can give me!? I love your channel and I I’ve been watching your channel for years now 🌸🌱💕🌿🌸🌱

Kandace Espinoza I was thinking the same thing. It can’t be healthy for the plants to have the inside of the pots painted. It seems like the paint would eventually seep into the soil...

I agree nothing is more beautiful than a “ true aged terra cotta pot”... the kind you find in old basements or barns! All the manmade kind come close... but age is best! LOL!!! I have tried different steps and they look “okay”. I love hearing the birds and you are correct... they CHIRP differently in Springtime! Happy little birds! Being in upstate New York, I love to hear the Red-Winged Blackbirds. Then I know spring has arrived. Funny how different people love hearing different birds to Welcome the season! We still have snow banks around... but they shall soon go! How nice to surprise your Mom.... what a joy!!!

Great idea, but you should never paint the inside of the clay pots especially if you put any edible in them. It seeps through to the herb. I watch the garden videos all winter and have been just starting to sow flower seeds. Spring is my favorite time of year.

Thank you for a refreshing Spring video💚🌿🌱I liked all the styles..the white ones are darling to me,tho! Years ago my friend and I "aged" terra cotta pots by using a stencil brush..we stippled white randomly to look like the lyme and after it dried stippled a mossy green around the base and edges of the pots. They really looked mossy old and sooo authentic! Try it and see! I love your videos,Mary. Every. Single. One! 💚💚💚

Mary, did you spray clear coat on the outside of all the pots when finished or just the ones you used the lime on? I was thinking you might consider clear coating the inside of the pots too so the terra cotta doesn't absorb the water. Just a thought... I love all of these. Turned out beautiful!

Hi Mary, I love how your pots turned out. It looks like a fun project I might have to try. I live in Virginia and we have all four seasons which I really enjoy but I'm starting to feel a little Spring fever and can't wait to plant my containers. My Grandmother always said that after we get through dogwood winter (after the dogwood trees bloom) the weather will finally settle down. She was right so, hopefully, it won't be much longer. Hope you and your family are staying well. By the way, your tan looks so pretty. Take care.

I live in South Texas and sometimes we get winters. Well, at least this year we got a winter. The kind of winter we can get. However, we already started to get summer. We don't really have much of spring. Our temperatures have already started to be in the high 80's thru the low 90's. To me its amazing seeing all the season your states goes through. I love it!

the only concern i would have with this project is, Terra cotta absorbs water, spackling is water absorbent...perhaps use glazed pots?? where the glaze on the inside prevents the terracotta from leaching water out and destroying the Spackle...

Mary, Mary, Mary..... You have got to wear a mask when sanding, that spackle and other chemicals including spray paint, are so dangerous for your lungs.PLEASE WEAR A MASK I just ran across some tiny clay pots I painted about 3 Christmas's ago to top some pumpkins I used for Fall (not Halloween) . I made the pumpkins look like big ornaments (Pinterest) on my porch. I can use the spackle technique to those pots. My husband can't stand plain clay pots anyway. Next time you may want to put a sealer over the spackle before painting or put a sealer between the two colors. It is very nice here in Richmond VA right now a little cool today. I was looking at my large terracotta pots today that I had taken off my porch for the holidays. I can't wait to try this. I love how all the pots turned out.

I live in SW Georgia, our weather is very much, no, identical to that of Florida, and even though it is warm, hot and humid most of the year, I do enjoy seeing everything in nature turn back to the beautiful spring green. Our spring is very short, much like winter/fall, so I have to make the best of the short few weeks that we have pleasant "love to be outdoors" weather. I start my gardens in late March to early April, along with any furniture flips and those type projects before it gets to muggy yucky to be outside. I love the planter ideas, most favorite would be the green with gray dry brushed on. Again, thank you for sharing all your lovely ideas with us. Take care and stay safe in these uncertain times. xx

My house faces directly north. So I put my pits right out front in the garden over the winter. It is pretty moist because it gets very little sunlight. The pots gets a messy growth on them. I liked the texture of the pot before you sa ded the joint compound. It wasn't a natural texture but it looked great. It's still very cold in Duluth Minnesota with snow on the ground. We generally don't plant until June and sometimes very late. This requires an interesting mixture of fertilizer to get flowers to grow AND blossom before the end of the season which is September.

I enjoy all of your videos. I could listen to the music all day. I have winter sowed seedlings Annual poppies are ready to plant out but I will wait a bit. Penstemon and verbascum are up and several other things. I started them the end of January. Have a good day. I am in zone 8 Oregon.

Super ideas! I have a huge plastic terracotta color pot--does anyone know if the spackling will stick to plastic?
