I really can't wait too. I have such fond memories of Clematis montana from childhood as my mother was the clematis queen and we had a giant montana in our front garden which cloaked a leylandii in pink flowers in spring. It was a vision. Thank you for watching and have a great weekend 🌺💐

@@GardeningatDouentza "The president" is quite a popular variatie. I realy loved the rich violet color of it. In the gardening books the authors scare pepole about the dificulty of pruning them but my friend who has one of the most popular gardens in Latvia prunes only dead branches and doesen't realy bother about pruning clematis.

Well if they do, I will remove one or more clematis. The most important thing now is to get the stump covered quickly. I think people often make the mistake of underplanting and end up looking at gaps for years.
@michaelmccarthy4077
@michaelmccarthy4077 3 жыл бұрын
Is there a specific reason that you didn't loosen the root ball on them prior to planting? I haven't planted a Clematis in a long, long time so I can't remember if it is necessary. The first one (montana Alba), especially, is one I probably would have fussed with a bit to encourage them to grow outward from the plant. (Group 2 Clematis sort of grow this far south, but they are more of an annual or "bi-annual", where you might get two seasons out of it if you are lucky)
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 жыл бұрын
Goodness, imagine clematis being an annual. It is hard for me to imagine! Yes, I might have teased the roots out in that grandiflora clematis a bit. The others didn't really warrant it but the white one might have benefitted. However, I was of the opinion that it should be really grateful after all that deep rock excavation I did for it and just grow vigorously and quickly 😁
