As from someone who has had multiple irrigation systems installed, I'd highly recommend the Hunter MP Rotator heads above anything else for your lawn. Also, make sure and don't skimp out on zones. Get as money zones as you feel you need versus trying to save a few bucks and tying as many heads as possible into a zone. For complete control you don't want to have parts of your lawn getting water that gets lots of shade while trying to water parts that get full sun. Also, make sure your contractors use a schedule 80 PVC ball valve for your shut off and nothing else. It's not that much more expensive, and trust me, you'll thank me later. I'd also recommend the rainbird control system as it's the most user friendly and has tons of options. Can be controlled by your phone anywhere anytime. Your backflow preventer will not be able to go in your garage as you said in the video, I'd recommend somewhere out back as they can be unsightly. Also, I'd do nothing less then sch 40 pipe for the lines. Be prepared for tons of damage to your lawn and lots of rock to be brought to the surface while trenching. Plan ahead to bring in more topsoil after installation cause I promise you all the trenches will sink below grade no matter how much they pack the dirt back in. Your gonna need to relevel your lawn afterwards for sure.

I second that. My house has half the backyard on same zone as side yard. Then rest of the back yard zone also has two sprinklers in the front section. Wish I had 4-5 zones 😢

@YardBrah I hear ya wanting to do it yourself, but that would be a ton of work. Also, you got the wiring aspect of it too with all the zones and control panel. My best advice would be to just be clear to your contractors about what you want, and make sure all of that is wrote up in the contract. Then, just try and be there during the install and kinda micro manage and make sure they're doing it right.

You really need to draw out the entire property w measurements break it up into zones yourself, and then ensure you place the heads to obtain 100% head to head coverage. Get the specs for the rotors you want and calculate the exact nozzles and gallons per minute you need as well.

Glad you are looking at doing in ground irrigation given how much time and effort you have put into this project. Candidly, have someone install a back-flow device for you and then do the rest yourself. It is a ton of work, but knowing where every pipe, every joint and how deep everything is will be a bigger benefit in the long run. I did a ton of research and it’s well worth the effort to set the zones and heads exactly what the way you want. I even went as far as to install a yard hydrant in the garden (with low flow zones) to make sure I future proofed everything. All that said, if you are going to pay someone to do work for you, install a gate in the backyard. IYKYK

Your lawn looks great brah! I definitely definitely think getting an in ground irrigation system with some spray heads to avoid spraying the road and stuff would be cool. You could probably do it under $1500 or less all DIY. You deserve to join the in ground club but it can be overwhelming doing it all yourself!😅😮😢😊😊😂

That shot with the fireworks in the background though! I had a quote for irrigation earlier this year and it was $10k (in Canada for 5000 sq ft lawn). Hopefully yours comes in lower than that! I feel you brah I tore my acl falling of an 8 ft ladder in April so I rush my lawn addition thinking I was getting surgery June 1 but Workmans comp said nope I have to get from 350 to 225 before surgery and it failed now it’s too hot and I’ll have to wait until cooler days to try again. Make sure your green is on its own zone for sure. Looking into the hunter i20 heads because you can sit each one off if needed. Good luck on the system. You will upgrade as you go for sure. Rock out !

Yo Brah, I hope the knee gets better. In the spring I tore ligaments in my hip and it has tried to threaten my lawn season but I've adapted some ways and made it so far. I guess it's best not to germinate the putting green grass seed? After you did the germination for the back back , i was sold on using that technique when i do my front reno next spring.

I mean … it just hold me up 😂😂😂 like this was spur of the moment project I’ve been putting aside… I think pre germ is best for grass types that take forever to germinate like if I was doing Kentucky blue grass I would pre germinate for sure!!!! But perennial rye germinates pretty fast so it’s not worth it… also this is the first time I’ve done bentgrass so I wanted to go old school and see how long it took just regular planting 😊🙏🏾🤙🏾👊🏾

Love your channel. Have you considered the Irrigreen system? I bought it last season in hopes of installing it but lack of time/patience led to me getting traditional irrigation put in. Still have everything though you can have it if you’d like to use it.

I usually can follow your thinking and argumentation as well can confirm with my experience. However, if "creeping bentgrass" is agrostis stolonifera, I doubt you can control it longterm within your targeted boundaries. I have very resistent spots in my lawn and it pops up like cholera meters away from prior spots, likely tranfered with mower, roler and tools. Will see in 24 month..., hope you prove me false 😅. I feel it but the nice thing is the collar is perennial rye so I can spray tenacity and t-zone to get rid of the bentgrass creeping though without harming the rye … it should be pretty controlled as I spray tenacity twice a year and will be doing t-zone multiple times a year on the collar. Bentgrass I will be using other products for weed control it a while different ball game for sure! 😊🤙🏾👊🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Happy birthday to your dad! Sorry to hear about your knee, I hope it's nothing as serious as an ACL injury. Why no peat moss or compost covering on the seed to protect against birds eating them? You've had birds on your lawn in the past so I wanted to confirm.

I’m gonna push this season if anything I’ll get something done in winter so I have time to recover for spring! 😊 As for the peat moss… the collar had compost added and the sand covers the seed after I raked it all 😊 so far so good no bird beak marks! 😊👊🏾🤙🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I don’t see how u can be under 8k??? With all the areas u want, including the city property???? Why worry about that area?? They could just come in a break it down without needing to ask u anything. Also the sidewalk areas past the sidewalk from your house are also City property. You cut those areas out to avoid a headache later and you’ll be much better off price wise.
