Jerry, my responsibilities to my aging parents is so great, that I don't have the time to work in my garden. I Love and Appreciate You and Jenny sharing your garden with me so much. It's my joy watching things happening at Creekside Nursery. God Bless.

Jenny, Brenna really made me smile during your bulb intro: Pops out from behind building, lifts head, "Where's Mom?" Pricks up ears, "There's Mom!!!" Weaving way around plants to get to mom, "Oh, look, a rock--I'll take it to Mom!" Walks past Mom, then back, "Don't want rock. Mom, watch me put the rock back almost exactly where I found it!" Sooooo cute! ❤😊

I laughed as I watched you and Jerry plant bulbs. About 30 years ago, my husband helped me plant bulbs. We lived in cold northwest Ohio, and it was Sunday after Thanksgiving, a drizzly day like you had. He got cold and tired. Ho dug up a big slab of clay, threw my mini daffodils in, and plunked the slab back down on top of them. Guess which bulbs bloomed best? Yep! It was the mini daffodils. Funny memories, for sure.

Dear Jenny. it is going to look gorgeous so you won"t have to worry about eating crow. That tool you were using to plant the tulips works amazingly well. the soil you dig up can pop right back into the hole on top of the bulb. job done

I use a pro-plugger every year to add hundreds of tulips, alliums, daffodils, and crocuses. I live in Indiana and have clay soil too. If the soil gets stuck, just use a rubber mallet to bang on it.

Can’t wait to see these bulbs bloom! We just moved into our newly built house with new flower beds in Sept. I’ve been doing all the planting in the flower beds! We have some perennials & I planted 100 bulbs in the fall. All daffodils because that’s what will reliably come back for us in Oklahoma. Some have already popped up a little! 🥴 when I see green I just cover them up with mulch more… hopefully they will be ok & we will get a pretty show in the spring!

Ginny it is going to be Amazing to see all there colors when they bloom. When do they bloom in your area? Where I live the Daffodils blooming in April, and when they die we cut the boom stem off as the leaves is what feed the bulb for next year an we don't dig them from year to year.

I'm sorry but from around 8min and after, didn't watch or listen to Jenny, was just watching Brenna, she had a blast 😂 She's beautiful 💙 On topic, I'm also switching to daffodils, our winters become so mild that tulips can't get their cold treatment naturally. Here in Europe we have exceptional warm spell, now for almost 2 weeks we have temps in high 50 low 60is, all spring bulbs are out, snowdrops almost blooming, buds even start swelling on hostas and peonies and it's just way too early. Looking forward to see all those bulbs in bloom!

What a great video! Enjoyed learning more about the auger and cannot wait for your spring videos. Question, do you use the bulb tone or is it more specific to colder zones? I only planted a small section by hand and gave up after 25 and am hoping the rest that I put in containers come up. I am going to invest in an auger this year. Power Planter, of course.

@tinachristensen1760 Жыл бұрын
How do you have room for that many bulbs when your beds are always so full of other things?
@GardeningwithCreekside Жыл бұрын
That’s the beautiful thing about bulbs. They tuck so nicely in between existing shrubs & perennials, and as their foliage is dying back the other plants come to life & hide that foliage.
@lynlijalysbalderdottir4563 Жыл бұрын
Ms Jenny, why do you need to let the foliage die back after blooming finishes? If your zone is a 7b and you treat them as annuals (meaning you replant every year); why worry about the foliage? I’d just cut it back and let the bulb die.
@GardeningwithCreekside Жыл бұрын
I only treat my tulips as annuals and I rip them out as soon as they are finished blooming. My jonquils are perennials for me so that is why I have to leave the foliage until it naturally dies back. This is how the bulb stores energy for next year's blooms.
@sharonopdahl1961 Жыл бұрын
I like your idea with the tulip placement Jenny!! Sorry Jerry.
@NorthCarolinian81 Жыл бұрын
Wait, so crocus is perennial in 7b? Also, which zone map do you use? USDA says I'm 8a but Proven Winners says 7b.
@GardeningwithCreekside Жыл бұрын
Yes the crocus tommasinianus are perennials to zone 8. I use the USDA, but there is hardly any difference between a 7b & 8a so I always lean towards the warmer zone since I am in the south.
