Since you’ve asked for opinions, I would go with a different exterior bracket. Something a bit larger in scale, and, with the electrical boxes installed so high, a fixture that extends down a bit would fill in the visual space and would provide a more balanced look. Good luck with the search!
@melissasullivan16582 жыл бұрын
Yep, the height of it was killing me. Lower them a bit and it wouldn’t look nearly so awkward and she’d probably like the lights then.

I agree, the fixture seemed small in scale. (Many people err in choosing too small of lights for outdoor structures.) Unfortunately in Laura’s case, I’m not sure much bigger would fit between the door trim and window trim.

I just wanted to thank you for NOT putting 'includes paid promotion' into your videos! I really enjoy not having to watch more commercials, which is one of the reasons I started watching KZbin in the first place. Now they have more and more ads, and when I tune in to watch other favorite KZbinrs and find that they are adding commercials to their videos that don't at least have 'skip in 5 seconds', I get annoyed. Thanks again for keeping your videos clear of all the commercialization. Your videos have always been my absolute favorites due to your honesty and clear love of gardening. Keep up the good work!

In 1961 my dad put tongue and groove knotty pine in the family ranch cabin much like what is in your shed. To keep it from turning dark over time he mixed a little white oil paint with linseed oil and brushed it all over the wood. It allowed the beauty of the wood grain to show and protected it very well. In 2019 when the cabin was torn down I asked my aunt to please save some of the tongue and groove wood for me to make picture frames out of. The wood has not yellowed or darkened at all and looks just as nice as it did when he first put it up. Over 60 years with only that first application!

We have a Tent type vehicle carport in the backyard that has the canvas off and a peak that arches in the top middle. It is the framework for our grape arbor. It is covered with leafy vines in the summer and provides a shaded area with grapes hanging down on the inside as they grow in the fall. It is big enough for a long table down the middle and room for chairs. Every year in the fall these wine grapes are noticed by the birds as it gets closer to when they are ripe. The day they are ripe it can be totally stripped of berries by the birds! I consider it a gift to them!

But if Laura doesn't like them.... She will be the person looking at them every day and she would be unhappy. So why bother keeping lights she doesn't like. She would probably replace them fairly soon anyway. The lights don't always look the way you think they will in a box.

She was never 'going' to Buy the $700.00 lights...most likely she was searching, found some perfect / lovely lights and then saw the price tag!

I think the lights look lovely ,but they are too small , a longer looking light would look fab x

The wood siding on the garden shed works for the cottage look, the beach house look, the farm-house look, etc. My little home has siding and with other accents looks like a beach bungalow. YOUR garden shed with the right accents will look exactly how you want it to look (but only after much interaction between you and Aaron. LOL. The lights in question would look good on the porch of my beach cottage if they were in white...but my budget is half of yours. I love how you show all the tools, materials, products you'll be using on each project.

I see Aaron's Steam Punk connection on the lights for sure. However, my rule is if you don't love it, don't spend the money.

The shed is turning out so beautiful!!! The only thing I don’t like about the lights is that they seem a little small.

Yes, it would look pretty to mirror the pots at the other end :). Arron, you are hilarious over the “it’s not a nautical”.

The best nautical discussion ever ! I think you’re right what you’d love is 1000. Plus, but what’s affordable is not the best 🥰🥰

Good morning!! I'm totally with you on the nautical/old-school diving equipment/lighthouse vibe of the lights. Although I personally think they look lovely. But then I agree with Aaron too, lots of UK seaside cottages have that siding detail here. Totally up to you though!! Carriage lights are so beautiful... Btw, we actually pronounce Suffolk without the 'l' so 'Su-fok' haha so sorry, don't mean to be rude 🤣🤣 same with Norfolk too. I'm actually from Suffolk, but totally understand if that feels weird to say in your lovely American accents. Anyway, it's so exciting seeing it all come to life again for the season! ❤️❤️❤️

I live in Suffolk county Long Island USA. It’s pronounced without an l here too. I have to agree it’s stupid.

Hi Laura! Thank you for another great video. One thing I've discovered is that whatever you think of when you look at something, is what you will think/see every single time you look at it. So while the light fixtures were really nice,I'm glad your returning them for ones you absolutely love. Can't wait to see your gardens when everything is up and blooming. Will be an amazing sight. 😊

Hiya, the lights look great when held up and go really nicely with the cut flower shed but I do agree as soon as you said old diving suit I saw it too. I still think they're very nice but they are just going to bug you so I would suggest sending them back and getting something you love and can live with! Good luck! X ps - if you can manage the cost of the ones you love then go for it! Why the heck not?! 😻
