Adding some diversity to this bottomland hardwood forest. These augers make quick work breaking up the soil for good root development! Lots more to come from this property!

I love what you are doing I worked for several years doing replanting trees and native wildflowers/ grasses. It’s great seeing the difference that it can make on a area. I miss it wish more people had a passion for it

I’m starting my natives journey this growing season. I’ve installed 20 bare root shrubs or trees, and ordered over 100 bare root native perennials. I’m addicted. I cannot wait to see how the native woodland garden evolves and attracts wildlife!

Where did you order them and what did you order? Also what's your general location?
@taylorswf239 ай бұрын
@@geoffkeller5337 all sort of sources. Arbor Day (don’t recommend- they sent three plants that were later identified as plants other than what I ordered 🤦🏼♀️), Etsy, local plant sales, etc. I’m in West Tennessee.

It took my native plot about 3 years to really bring in the pollinators and wildlife. I started most from seed, though. But I love all the lepidoptera and birds and lizards and all kinds of bugs I see. Got Japanese beetles on my chokeberry for a bit, but they were gone in a week. Birds took care of them.

I really love the work you do. I am originally from Alabama (Mobile) but I am now in Kansas, but it is really great to see someone from my home state taking such good care of the native habitats. Keep up the good work!

An organic master gardener told me when you take those plugs out, you can slice some roots with a razor (from top down) & it'll actually help the plant grow/establish.
@janeythompson1834 Жыл бұрын
I also heard you should separate the roots for replanting (into a larger pot for me)

It would be nice to see how time has treated this plot of land. Might not be the season, even if the deer ate every plant.

You could start mushrooms around the big dead log. See Paul Stamets videos. Excellent for environment.

Great stuff. I like those long, narrow planting tube things and will have to see about getting some. And one of those augers for the drill!

Great to see. I’m curious re the cone-tainers. Do you have another long form video on using those? I’m in the Northeast and there’s one small local native nursery which has a slim stock and is $$$$, even for up here. Also. Can you recommend other content such as sites, books and other YT creators. Yes please plug your own stuff (no snark) I see the passion you have for this stuff and would like to support your business.

Look up Dr. Doug Tallamy here on youtube for some of the science behind the need for native plants and folks to get them planted. He's got some great webinars. As for containers, I like the looks of those long cones!

How do I get someone like you to come to my house and help me figure out what should stay and what should go. Landscapers are no help. Do you know anyone near Jacksonville Fl?
@alejandromartinez3475 Жыл бұрын
There might be a local gardening page on a social media page for your area. You can ask for help there, your local state university might have a list of native species I know my did

@Karen - Hi! I live in Purvis and found that the Crosby Arboretum has plant sales several times a year and they sell lots of native plants and trees. I think they are having one soon

Have you considered using the stick with the pointy end that some websites sell? The auger can be a pain sometimes as dirt falls in the hole.

I’ve tried to find information about plants and tree native to my state but it always comes up with flowers and wild edibles. We’re would we find the information for our state?
@emmafox4069 Жыл бұрын
It’s been a few months since you commented but if you’re still looking for info, the National Wildlife Federation has some resources for the best native plants by ecoregion. If you google “National Wildlife Federation native plants” you can look at keystone plants that have maximum ecological value.

If you mention your state, region, ecosystem you may get an answer. Search for "trees native to xxx (insert your state)
