Very good information! I’m in zone 3 just starting some seeds in mid-March . We’ll see how it goes.

Thanks so much for de-mystifying long-day sensitivity for me! Last season's asters were cute as a button, and not much taller!! Those beds became my little girl's personal posy-picking patch ;)

Thanks for a very informative video! I haven't grown aster before so I'm a complete newbie with it and this was very helpful!

I am getting ready to seed the china asters next week. We want them to grow as long as possible before the summer equinox.

@@BareMtnFarm I planted some in January strictly for a germination experiment and they did great, but then the leaves had spots on them. I'd pinch them off and then the next row of leaves would get the spots. I just planted my first China Asters last week and am going to plant another succession in about two weeks. Thank you for your videos!

I started seeds beginning of March. Planted them out early May. Started to set flower buds early June to my surprise. Haven't bloomed yet, though.

I love yalls banter! Lovely and very helpful with my asters that similarly have overgrown their trays 😂🌸

good explanation of "day length"; I'm bummed as I've missed the seeding time for this year. I'll put it on my calendar for the end of March so I'll have a reminder for next year.

Wonderful info on long day plants. I would get confused about whether the long day would trigger blooms or vegetative growth. I declared a couple weeks ago that I had had it with asters. I have trouble with germination. And I had to ditch my tray of seedlings as they maybe had aster yellows. I was doing Masamoto mix for addition to mixed bouquets. Are these that you are showing a single stem per plant or multiple single stems per plant. I wasn't clear on that. Thank you very much.

What irrigation tubing do you use? I’m having trouble with our hole getting plugged up.

Are those plugs or from seed ? Did you use soil ?
@BareMtnFarm3 жыл бұрын
I seeded them in 3/4 inch mini soil blocks and then bumped them up to 6 packs in a 72 plug tray.

Do you happen to have any pictures of these asters that you started in June that did not grow very tall? I only ask because I'm interested as a balcony gardener to have potted plants that will bloom in the fall. So I wondered if I did potted planting of asters in June would I get something that would flower but still say reasonably small in the pot?
