Hi Manie. Two questions, your bak had already some germination mix inside? It was therefore hard to see to what depth to put the mix in? Ie how much mix 2) once planted do you not water or check on them at all till they germinate?

Hi colinpaulhume. I fill the container roughly with about 10cm gemination mix. Spray just a little water over the seeds, the medium must just be lightly moist. Not wet, then the seeds will rot. Place in a warm spot (not full sun) ideal around 22-25 C. If its colder its fine, they will just take a little longer to germinate. And then I check on them about once a week and spray a little water if the medium start to dry out.

Hi Jacques. I check weekly and spray a little water only when required. Once the start germinating I plant over into seedling trays (there is a video about it 👍🏻)

No, the germination medium in the sealed containers are just kept lightly moist so no drainage needed.

Hi Manie, how often should the container be aired? and if mold appears around a seed (intact, not rotten) what do you do? Thanks

Hi Marco. I open the containers about once a week to have a look. Any seeds with mold on will be removed and a light antibacterial mix spray over the area where the seeds was, to prevent spread. Clivia regards!

How regular should one water these

Lucy, it depends on your climate, the medium you use, pot size or in soil and some other things. If it doesn’t rain I normally water around once every 4 days in summer and once every 8 days in winter. I personally always try and keep my clivias moist and never let them dry out completely.

I wonder if there are any reliable online vendors for Clivia Seeds that ship to the US. I've tried a couple online websites and both times the seeds have been shipped from China. What I received were anything except Clivia, tiny, tiny black seeds that were obviously anything except Clivia. Fortunately both times the vendors have refunded my money but left me stuck with seeds that I do not even know what they are or if they are even worth planting.
