Tori, this was absolutely fascinating! I am learning so many new ideas and new approaches to therapy that resonate with me and give me new hope for healing! I am 75 years old… I like to comment on the question of therapy, “in-person” vs virtual therapy / zoom. I was a believer that, I had to the room because of trust issues (C-PTSD). However, being forced to use telemedicine or no therapy was an easy choice. I tried zoom. I learned that working with a therapist is MORE about ”chemistry” than anything else. The therapist easily could read my facial and body language, so trust was an easy bond to build! So, those of you out there who have an opportunity to work with a therapist on-line; please try an initial first meeting. If you feel comfortable in that meeting enough and you think trust is there. I hope give it, at least, a try! I think it will only take a few sessions to feel that sense of “TRUST”. You’ll be surprised.

This was such a informative podcast I learned so much with Tori Olds. I wanted to say to Tori that when you do the KZbin series on Coherence Therapy if you could do a detailed, one hour(🙏🏼) demo on memory reconsolidation. Derek Scott ( who I found through your videos) is amazing in his demos and I learn so much from them. Reason I asked for a demo is that I have heard Bruce Eckert speak on memory reconsolidation and he makes it sound like such a easy thing to do. In this video you said it’s not easy and requires a lot of skill and prep work from the therapist and the client can’t intellectualize it but has to have strong emotional response to the new learning in order to change the old schema. So pls show us how you( as the therapist) does this with a client( Derek does this with another therapist as the client) This type of learning would be so powerful to watch. BTW I am not a counsellor just a viewer who has been transformed by your videos 🙏🏼

Yeah, I do very much agree that demos are so helpful!! I did get permission to read a transcript of an actual session as part of the series, so that will be in there at least!! You know, Derek’s demos are actually a great example of memory reconsolidation in therapy as well. IFS allows the steps of MR to unfold beautifully! It reactivates the old learning through talking to parts, and then disconfirms it through a new experience with the Self. So glad you are watching those!!

I heard a priest (Fr Jacques Phillipe in his book "Interior Freedom") call this "limiting beliefs" to my great benefit. As soon as I heard the term I knew I had a bunch of them.

Well done. Great interview. She laughed too. That doesn't happen much in interviews. Very user friendly episode. Thank you.
