I also love Bleeding heart flowers. No i don't have any.. i might get one someday,, they just get a little big for my small yard.. when i was a kid i used to pull apart the flowers :) i'm sure my mom hated that :) and yes we have pill bugs here :)

when did you start your seeds again? they are slow to put out their first leaves for sure... if i remember correctly mine took a few months... but they seem to grow faster when it gets hot and humid... i have some other friends that started growing their seeds around the same time i planted mine and their plants look more established... maybe they are in a warmer climate :) Good luck with your babies :)

You must be the person with the greenest thumbs :-) I'm growing from seeds apples and one lemon they are shorter than your palms. I will look for dates fruit to plant the seeds too. Happy gardening.

also worth trying is Trachycarpus Latisectus, I have several seedlings and a few Trachycarpus Wagnerianus, I love growing palms from seed, my wife thinks i'm a bit obsessed! haha

I would love to try and grow some Trachycarpus seeds. Yes the date palms are the only palms that i'm growing except for a Sago palm but i'm not sure if that is considered a palm tree :)

I was hesitant to do this in Toronto, but after I saw your video I decided to go for it. I Started the dare palms in a ziplook bad today... figures crossed!

green thumb is a part of it i guess..lol.. luck is a bigger part i think :) the dates were really fun to grow but they are fairly slow growing.. i think it's my short seasons. I got only 1 new leaf this season..lol.. i was expecting more. are you going to try and grow any other fruit from seed?

yeah, date-palms ... never really thought about growing them, mostly because everybody i know always has some problems with insects on those. but yeah, should try that !' I always grow palmseedlings (trachycarpus & washingtonia) in 1.5l PET-Bottles, they love it that theres so much room till the ground, as you can see in your vid,too the space between is almost unused. do you have some other palms, too?
@johnnyprice384 жыл бұрын
Mine are almost a year now and there not even that big yet
@TrancetasticWilza11 жыл бұрын
I got some seeds off ebay, but that was a UK seller. The Latisectus seeds aren't so easy to find as some of the other Trachycarpus, but if you can they are worth a go, mine took about 4-5 weeks to germinate. by the way, I'm Will, who posted the date palm seedling pic on your fb page yesterday. ;)

Hi I have 100 canary date palm growing they are about 6in tall, but I put them into a 14cm pots and there roots are showing at the bottom so I am now putting them into 25cm pots and this will last for approx. 2 yrs until they are bigger and need a 30cm pot.

nah, sago is a cycad, but very intresting to grow from seed! I know a couple of guys that treet those with gibblerin-acid or H2O2. But i just watered them, put them into coconut fiber and on a warm spot => 3 year old seedling with 3 leafes. you should really try the trachy - one of the easiest and fast growing palms i know (aaaand the seeds are very cheep)
