I own and concur. It is an awesome, awesome module. It can be as subtle or insane as you let it. There is nothing quite like playing tangible, observable electromagnetism. It's much like the experience of running voices through tube distortion amps in modular - physical, raw, rumbly, crunchy.

I now have similar issues with Serge now. But I am confident you'll be able to resist. These modules may be too deep for most eurorack users. But some will want to know how deep that rabbit hole goes. Almost a full 6U case now...

Did you ever get your Disting display situation worked out?
@CinematicLaboratory4 ай бұрын
@@arpmoog Yes I did, I have a nice panel with two displays and ready to use cables. So now I could theoretically use two of them. If this helps me to use the Disting, I may get a second one. I'd love to do a video about just disting and ornament_crime/hemispere :). Supersmall and super powerful :).

@@CinematicLaboratory Please do. Robin Vincent may have scared some off with his mixed review. Both units are massively powerful and deserve to be more popular, but requires time investment to learn. Carrion on, our way weird son.

Sounds great. I remember reading that there was going to be a final black and gold run of LxDs, though I haven’t seen anything about this lately. Would certainly be welcome.
@CinematicLaboratory6 ай бұрын
That would be cool, but they will probably not go to the EU due to the vactrol ban. LXD used to be the cheapest LPG for about $99. It doesn't work without CV though. No room for knobs like on the Optomix.
@chrissherman016 ай бұрын
@@CinematicLaboratory I forgot about the vactrol ban-that's unfortunate. I picked one up used recently. I've been doing some filter sweeps on the top channel using pressure points cv. Fun.

It’s one of a few modules that I won’t sell. Couple it with a few other modules and it’s a beast.

They won't be able to make this module fast enough for the first couple of years. It's destined for a lot of racks I reckon. Great demo, as always.

Good one, man .. I think if it were in my rack, .. I would just be cracking the valves slightly, .. to the access of these tools. I wonder about that xenon tube, though .. is this something needs to be replaced, now again? And if so, .. can one?
@CinematicLaboratory6 ай бұрын
The tube will last for roughly 10.000 hours, which will officially make you an expert in eurorack :). Assuming the company still exists after it breaks, it needs to be repaired, presumably by the manufacturer. If you operate it every day for eight hours, it would last 3,5 years or so. I would not recommend putting it in an always-on case. I did not give this much thought, because most of my modules are in 7U cases and only powered on when used. In my case, the PV will probably last forever. It's an important thing to consider, but it's unwise to be afraid of things that may never happen.
@ntro93476 ай бұрын
@@CinematicLaboratory I had the exact same concerns before purchasing it and was told 10 to 70.000 hours at 100% drive. So, with normal usage it should last many years. I'm also fairly certain that the tubes have been undervolted to prolong lifespan.

@@CinematicLaboratory Well yes, .. that's many, many hours .. Why do you need another LPG? Initially I thought the internal envelope would be sufficient but your result is amazing. I guess its not apple to apple
@CinematicLaboratory4 ай бұрын
You don't need it, the provided VCA and envelope support is really good. However, if you want to make the sound more organic, an LPG can do wonders. After making the video I noticed you can slide the filter to the top area, and it will also use the built in VCA on the filter. So it's even better than I thought.
@entropydisorder63594 ай бұрын
Yeah the internal is definitely lacking some snap and curve in comparison. I am using Zadar but i find it sounds really artificial and digital. I thought it would be able to do the sound of LPG but now im wondering to really dive into the lpg world

@@entropydisorder6359 It's a dream come true, trust me. If you're outside the EU, try to get a Buchla/TTA 292T. If you have the budget, luck and patience, get a Natural Gate. Maybe you can find a used Optomix.I have plenty of compares on my channel.
