I would blame who asked the plasterers to plaster that wall before it was ready, to be fair. Many time I'm told to just plaster it, even though other work is needed first, which becomes frustrating for all

For such tasks I keep a bag of old bonding handy as it goes off quickly. It can secure metal boxes and trunking into brickwork without any need for a further fixing screws. Finish the bonding just below the surface and once set it can be carefully filled to match the surface with plaster using a float. A damp sponge in conjuction with a water misting bottle enable the edge to be feathered in almost invisibly. Takes a bit of time but can produce a good result and saves skimming the whole wall. The kitchen in the video might be getting tiled so the finished surface might not have need to be a perfect finish - no doubt the plasterer will be able to quickly skim the wall albeit grudgingly.

Yes, been there went to some two storey flats once and all plastered, ended up dropping the cables down the cavity, piece of cake. And in my time (I'm now retired) it was all steel conduit work, proper electrical work, you did well with that one 👏 👍

Mate this happened to me in August, the plasterers themselves asked me to come back in just before the 2nd fix to do a few extra bits "before they plastered". I came in on a Wednesday like they asked but on Tuesday they decided to plaster and skim specifically the area I needed to work on. They also pushed all of my cables so far into the ceiling there was no chance of finding them. So without saying a word I pulled out the multitool and went to town on the walls and ceilings while they had to sit back and watch. It's not nice when you've got to be like that but sometimes it's called for and I'm not as patient as you for sure.

Lad at my work filled a back box to the brim with skim. Electricians were not impressed, ended up using a hammer and bolster 😂 Trades should be making each others job easier not harder

The finish on the plaster looked good, but a good plasterer would have looked at the plans and said "the sparks are going to be pissed, best talk to the project manager to check before I waste everyone's time and have to do the work twice"; however if they are hourly - then it's just more hours, "happy days".

(and i live in the n.east so insulation is a must) so not as cold and drafty as you wld think if your house is wraped right and sealed) makes running cable easy though no chasing and normally at least 10 to 20 cm of void space for box clearance. a cple of times we will have brick or block. the best of our electricle wiring though is probably the chicago illinoise area they cant use any 2 core all has to be run in conduit pain in the ass for most lol

@@markrobson9894 the original wall is lime plaster, lime plaster “breathes” modern plasters do not therefore any moisture in the wall cannot escape back into the space and therefore will start to blister. It is the same when vinyl emulsion ( if trade emulsion is used the risk reduces) is painted onto solid walls of old buildings it seals the inner skin and again will blister when the moisture cannot escape ( breathe). Incorrect materials used on old buildings is one of the biggest causes of damp.
