Went fishing in the keowee river in south carolina yesterday. Water was so low that the landing wasn't in the water. I was still able to get my American 12 in the water and had a great morning fishing. I use a 45 lbs thrust trolling motor. Have a 10lb anchor on a roller and a 10lb on the back. I caught several bream and a couple channel catfish about 18 and 20 inch long. 1 shellcracker about 8 inches and a long eared sunfish about 7 inches long to bring home for supper. Had alot of fun. I love my little boat. I own a Bayliner 175br inboard outboard boat that's in great shape but never take it out anymore. I'm gonna sale it and get a aluminum fishing boat.

Love the channel keep them coming. I was disappointed you didn't mention Inflatable boats. Super versatile and pretty cheap. Would love to see you look into them and do a video on them. Keep doing a great job brother congrats.

So i got the quest sportsman version of the 12' jon boat, i brought 60" crossbars for my stock roof rack on my rav4, strap it down with 4 mini ratchet straps from harbor freight and some rope threw the front eye tied down to my front bumper tow bolts, got the best battery advance auto had, and a 55 lbs thrust trolling motor off amazon for like 180 (cloud mountain brand i believe), installed quick connect seat mounts to the benches, clear flex seal around that rubber rim to seal it up good, drilled two small holes in the gunnels back corners for inner hull drainage because ive noticed even with the drain plug out some water would remain, i store it upside down on a slope in the back yard in the shade chained to a tree. For anyone interested in getting one of these boats, let me say this, since ive purchased mine, ive taken it out every weekend fishing and its a blast, handles very well, can stand up and cast just keep your feet spread, i also threw a door mat cut to fit over the stock flooring

Great guide for people looking to pick up a used plastic boat. You should do a video on how to repair minor damage on these boats also. If you find a "deal" and it has some minor damage or if you damage your boat how to fix it would be good to know. I'm new to the tiny boat world and I may need to repair a crack someday. I had been watching tons of videos on them and looked at a few, theyre cool but I found them a bit too flexible and adding decks and dual batteries pushes their capacity. After some thought I decided on a 1436 Grizzly just because I fish frequently in varying conditions and I think a 12' plastic boat would be asking for trouble. I got a great deal on a suzuki 20 at onlineoutboards and bought the boat and trailer from Basspro, doing the customization myself. I definitely appreciate all the time youve spent testing and breaking down these boats and have used a sundolphin canoe with NV55 for a decade, but just wanted a bit more stability and a trailer.

Dude found ur page at the perfect time. Just got an American 12 for free from my company, but they cant find the title/ don’t think there is one. Trying to figure out how to get it registered, figured I could maybe get them to write bill of sale even tho it’s a gift?

Great channel. I was looking for a cool hobby. Fishing and boating. The 10 ft pond prowler boat would be my first pick just because the stability and size is what I need for my limited budget.

I believe that here in FL you only need a title to get registration, IF one intends to put a motor on the boat. At least it was that way in the past. Almost makes me want to toss a kayak on top of my minivan!! I already have to renew my tags on my van and motorcycle.

I also bought an aluminum boat that didn't have a title and I got a title for it through dmv.

How did you get your registration numbers and decal sticker to stick? Mine act like they want to peel off so i haven't risked putting the state registration decal on yet

Mine just stuck right on. I got the 3” ozark trail stickers from Walmart and have no issue

@GreysonRoberts thats the ones i got too, they stuck but then would peel on the edges, i thought it was because of the textured plastic, i ended up using the biggest sharpie marker i had lol

whaly makes some decent plastic boats that u can actually put some hp on or go out inshore fishing.. very strong... if i was going for fishing id just get a aluminium jon.. much lighter.. cheaper.. also lasts very long.. but esp the weight.. these plastic boats are too heavy to carry .. making lots of spots inaccesable.

How much does a 12’ aluminum weigh? This is about 100lbs

@@GreysonRoberts a 1236 is also about 100 lbs.. but my mate used to have a 10'' basshound.. was always heavy.. and then there would get some water in between the shell every time adding another 50-100 lbs.. A 1236 is just bigger and lighter..

@@larsvegas1505I agree I have the same 10’ pontoon style boat as well and it’s heavier than my Jon boat for sure. My Jon boat is super light and my pontoon definitely has some water logging going on. It’s old.
