I think i burned my toffee because it came out dark like dark chocolate. Yours on video is brown. I took if off the burner as soon as it reached 290. I have it covered with the chocolate chips on top right now and have not yet tasted it (afraid to actually thinking it all came out wrong). Maybe I had the flame too high? How long should it take approximately for the toffee to be hot enough to 290 degrees? I will try again until I get it right. For now, let's see how it tastes (though I do get a "hint" of burned aroma in my kitchen). It's been over an hour now and have taken the toffee out of the refrigerator and broken into pieces. Looks good and tastes good! So happy! I thought I had done something wrong. Thank you for this easy to follow recipe. I will make more and put in cellophane bags with a pretty red ribbon to give away as Christmas gifts! Thank you for the video as I am a visual learner.
