@@JamieDana I'm curious to how much something like this would cost. I don't know if that's rude to ask, please forgive me if it is. I just find so many people complaining about our prices but I have stood my ground and come out better for doing so. I just know that was alot of work and alot of product so if you could elaborate I would very much appreciate! your work is gorgeous!
@enchamade85 жыл бұрын
Louann Mckethan , for color corrections, and that's basically what this is, I charge $200 per hour with a $200 minimum. I also do not book other clients during a color correction processing. Of course, the market you're in will factor into pricing. In a smaller town where I worked, that would not be acceptable to most clients. In the Kansas City area, and Dallas, the market will bear much higher prices. The clients are paying for our time, education, and expertise. Too many hair stylists sell their skills short.

Why is everyone in the comments so concerned with how much this could potentially cost? If the girl wanted it and could afford it then so be it!!
@t.s.taylorhatlestad36625 жыл бұрын
Because clients want this and don’t realize why it costs so much. Stylists get nervous to charge what it’s worth because they want new business and are afraid to lose the potential client. This can cost up to $1000 and usually takes more than one sitting. Many clients refuse to cut their hair more than 1/4” and don’t want to pay for future toners and high quality products for maintenance.
@rain37435 жыл бұрын
@@t.s.taylorhatlestad3662 Lots of stylists charge for their time and products. My guess is this took 7-8 hrs. But She is an incredible colortist and worth every penney. Once It's lifted? The upkeep is the retouch. Clients are usually consulted on the commitment to this look.
@t.s.taylorhatlestad36625 жыл бұрын
Rainbo I agree. The question was about why people keep asking about about the cost. Clients new to this type of color frequently want it “now” and “on a budget”. They also don’t want to lose any length. They sometimes forget or simply lie about previous color . Some clients think that since “a friend got this color for $150 in one sitting” the same should apply to them. A proper consultation is critical.
@rain37435 жыл бұрын

Rainbo I AM a colorist, almost 30 years now, Redken Specialist. I’m not looking for clients, just trying to help people understand what we do, how we are educated and why it costs so much. My oldest son , now 25, had bright cobalt blue hair when he was 10, before it was a normal thing. When people asked him what his mother thought he loved to tell them his mother did it.

I love the results! But I did learn a valuable lesson with this video. On that mid shaft area where there was previous permanent color, there was definitely a warm band after the lightening process. It’s ironic given the fact that it was 2 levels lighter than her natural hair color. I would have assumed that they would have processed evenly. I think you maneuvered it very well and the end result was beautiful. I have that going on in my hair right now and I am going to lighten that “permanent color” first, then I will do my virgin roots after to prevent that banding. Mostly because once I get banding, it’s challenging to really come in and fix it afterwards (for me). A strand test will tell me how much time on each. Thanks for this tutorial!!!

Elyse T if you have the right hair stylist you can go gray with a deeper shadow root! If you have darker hair they can do it slowly in steps while using a Bonder to protect your hair! I love using Olaplex as my protectant. Be proud of your self for all that you have accomplished and treat yourself to a good colorist in your area. If they tell you it can’t be done then move on to someone else. In other words , they are telling you that they do NOT know how to color and protect your hair at the same time. Very pretty turn out, HOWEVER, too many toners and steps used, you can get this same result with way less steps, still minimal damage using the bonder. There are other professional products for these same results and less steps for the icy blonde. Brown hair to icy blonde is fun for a hair stylist, I love challenges and the most difficult cases. That makes my day most exciting!

I disagree! I think all of the toners I used were necessary. Since this was done in one day, it seems like a lot. But if you were to break this down between multiple visits, you would use the same amount of product. Thanks for watching!

Tonya from Georgia, I've been behind the chair for decades, and was an advanced color educator for a major European color company. The number of steps will always depend on the specific client, and the integrity of their hair. I have never found a "one size fits all" technique, nor formula.

4-5 Toners is a bit excessive on top of the full head lightening and haircut blow dry + olaplex which I’m sure she charged at the clients expense. If this was in SF this would have easily been a thousand dollar hair color service
@JamieDana6 жыл бұрын
Elle Saint Hi Elle, it was actually only 3 toners and I needed to use all three in order to get the results she wanted. And she was actually a model who is a hairstylist (a good friend of mine), so I didn't charge her, but if she was a normal client, you're right, it would have been over $1000. Services like this take lots of time, product, and expertise. If a client wants a service like this done in one day, it's going to cost them. If they want to go somewhere cheaper, I highly doubt they will get the results they want. Thanks for watching!

Could you do a tutorial on redheads as you know there's many different shades I'm not talkin about The Carrot Tops I'm talking about something rich and beautiful that gives the impression of a redhead with golden highlights.

Absolutely no hate, beautiful result looks lovely, but 3 toners??? I couldn't charge my clients for all that product when the toner should be effective enough In one application, root shading then blend through length and ends. Why 3?
@JamieDana5 жыл бұрын
You need different toners to correct all the different levels for this total color correction! We didn't do one application, we did many!

hello l have a question. how many minutes does it take to close all of the foils?
@That1grI4 жыл бұрын
a lot of minutes. you have to work fast and its a headache at first. get a doll and practice practice with hair keratin (not color) also depends on the bleach/developer you use.

Anyone who is mentioning about the 3 toners you should know to get a true silver you wanna tone with violet to get ALL the yellow then tone with ash. Otherwise you'll get green, and no one wants that. The 3rd toner was the bit of the shadow root she gave. So it wasn't her just "not knowing what to do"

Laurie Lacerre you have to keep in mind the cost of the product theyre using and the cost of renting a salon or chair, and other bills. It doesn’t work out to as much. Hairdressers usually make around $30k for high end salons.
@OutrageousNailDesigns6 жыл бұрын
Lol, good luck getting anywhere near those ridiculous price quotes.
@OutrageousNailDesigns6 жыл бұрын
Tabby Cat just an fyi, there are many ways to make way more than $30k as a cosmo or barber. I work commission, doing men's cuts only, I made over $81k last year.
@tacocatseven6 жыл бұрын
Ricky Fonseca did you miss the part where I said usually? That’s the median income for someone working at a high end salon. Of course there’s some who manage to make more so congrats on your success in the industry thus far.
