it's like this even up in diamond. d3 peak here. some players are hitting dts and flip resets, others like me have absurdly good air dribbles, and then some manage to score goals while managing to be as consistent as a bronze. positioning really only helps in 3s. in 2s and 1s, you can just sit back :/

@@firedemon4051 Coming from a diamond 2 division 3 in 2s and diamond 1 division 4 in 1s Don't practice the flashy air stuff. But definitely use air roll- Only mechanics. Once you get good at one mechanic, may it be powershots, ceiling shots, flicks, etc. Always try to do another one until you're good enough to hit diamond 3. Hitting champion is only a great milestone if you can hold your own in champion. Think of it like that.

This annoys the shit out of me, honestly. Players who, for some reason, feel the need to play 'backup' by sitting in your shadow and huffing your exhaust fumes. Then as soon as you've made a single touch on the ball they swoop in like "my turn now" to brainlessly pelt it into the general direction of the opponent's net, regardless of where they are on the map. Like, for fuck sake, just let me make an actual play. You don't need to sit behind me 'incase I miss it'. Just go somewhere else and give me some space so I can pass the ball to you properly.

Actually, I think the best way to describe Platinum is to say that it is a transitory period where people try their hardest at things that they can't do properly, or with huge mistakes. They start to try aerials with air rolls, they try to dribble, air dribble, wall plays and so on. But as they only experiment these (and so try their hardest to do it on every little occasion, making them ballchasers btw) they do it very badly, as we can see at the beginning of the video at around 1:40 . This is pretty spot on aside from some people not ball chasing. I and my brother do our best to play rotations with our 3rd and work with our teammate. Plat is definitely the place where I started to actually dribble and try to fly off walls and the occasional ceiling.

I see platinums as players who are quite skilled, but in pursuit of mimicing Champions or Grand Champions they completely neglect basics. To put it simply a typical Platinum player is someone who will most of the time miss the ball in the air, miss simple balls, overcommitment and have no idea where teammates are on the field, but ocassionally given time are able to do super skilled stuff.

And furthermore, this is moreso a shining example of the teammates I get. I'm not saying that I don't belong where I am, just saying I wish the whole plat rank was a bit more devoted to the game, and hungry for wins. The worst thing is when a team goes up by 2, even if it's only a minute and a half into the game, at least 1 teammate immediately wants to forfeit. It's pretty disheartening. This probably happens way more often in low plat. When you reach plat 2 div 3+ u notice how everyone plays smarter and better. Probably because the high plats are closer to diamond lvl skill and lower plats are closer to gold lvl skill (especially with the mmr increase).Now even in high plat people sometimes make mistakes but it's not as often as it might be in low plat.

In plat, the winning strategy is to just take as many on target shots as you can. They don't have to be good shots, but if you just lob the ball at the goal, you'll probably win because people aren't good enough to rotate properly or consistently make saves.

Came to the comments section to say this. Wayton's playstyle against these plats in the first half of the vid would have been interpreted as odd or even trolling, just constantly giving them a ball, zero offense, and having the entire team stay in net... That's probably why the enemy team gave the ball back to Wayton at one point, it's a way of communicating "c'mon let's just play the game". It is true that at Platinum most players don't understand the concept of maintaining possession of the ball. Most games consist of clears, centers, and shots.

Rather, I think it's just that plats score off of counter attacks a lot, often taking advantage of their opponents poor positioning. You can see why when you look at the shot the plats generated in the first clip. They failed the dribble and the shot. Quite clearly, these plats didn't have enough mechanical skill to generate a good shot without having a real counter attack.

Not only that but in the process revealed flaws in the plat strategy: - not pushing when you have an advantage - rolling the ball towards the net when attacking instead of giving it some height and speed - not using your teammate - overcommiting when going for more mechanical plays - being out of position To get into diamond I began working on centering the ball for my tm8 to score (even setting up self goals by the defense), patrolling mid field, and sniping shot after shot from midfield. It's impressive how something that simple can get you so far.

@@amelsalkic2998 my default go-to game mode is solo queue casual 3s. I've gotten really good at adapting my style to my teammates. And I've won tourneys with my boys too cuz we have good chemistry. Like I said, my mechanics are trash but I consider myself a team player

Sometimes you match up against diamonds doing double taps and fast aerials, other times you face golds with a good history in tourneys, leading to a high MMR for them. I just recently got back to diamond MMR, and I 100% get carried in diamond tourneys cuz I'm still only plat 2

The reason this happens is because most plats can’t dribble or flick so they just flip at the ball hoping it goes in. I learnt a bit of dribbling and I went from plat 1 to plat 3 over the weekend now I am trying to learn flicks and reach diamond

I pretty much instantly got out of plat once I started getting more consistent, in good moments they have the mechanics of a diamond but you need to do training packs until you aren’t letting in as many easy saves and missing as many aerials

I'm a plat 1 and my mechanics are exactly as they should be for my rank, no overkill but also not Bad. I'm properly rotating and all that. I only found myself stuck because teammates won't rotate or because of my faulty Decision making and consistency in shots. The problem with that as my consistency and decisions become better is that I can't make up for mates missing rotations. I've had everything of teammates from taking the ball from me while dribbling to sitting in the net the whole match. 😂

playing as a solo, climbing through plat, in my opinion in some cases it was easier for me to give the ball than fighting for it in their corner. it was just easier and more secure for me to block the attack.

All right so here’s my theory, I’ve been in plat for a while I just recently got over into diamond im about mid diamond now, whenever I play casual I am like high Plat low diamond roughly, And I noticed the players who are platinum is different than the players who are diamond because platinum players play in this play style where they just wait for you to give them the ball back when you’re on defense so every platinum player plays basically the same since most of the time a plat won’t be concerned with how the other teams play to change their play style and so when you decide to use the space that they give you nine times out of 10 the game works out for you. If there’s Any tips to be given to a platinum player in the comments it’s learn how to dribble and get ball control and that will get you out of plat definitively

I'm a champ and I smurf sometimes to let off steam. Compared to diamond and champ your teammates are not only bad but also mess you up. The way to solo in plat is to play mad passive and wait for the ball. If I play aggressive in plat, doesn't matter how good my mechanics are ill lose every time. Easy way to win, just camp net and streak across field but rarely go past half. This won't work in diamond tho

Wayton, you can take this strategy all the way up to Champion at least. When I was learning to play the game, my friend told me "if you can't stop the ball from going in your own net, then you have no business being upfield". Honestly kinda bad advice for learning to play the game well, but that was clouded by constant wins due to what you found in this video. I didn't really stop playing like that until I hit Champion.

I was stuck in plat for sooo long then I just suddenly jumped into diamond and had been stuck there forever then they did the more recent mmr adjustments, now I'm in Champ 1 probably stuck forever because I can barely do aerial consistently. I think this shows how different ranks require different strategies. Bronze: just actually hit it Silver: Just actually hit it towards the goal Gold: Save on occasion and boom in a shot from half field Plat: (Fast) shots with height. Diamond: Let you know if I get there. :-D But at these low ranks, you do get so much value from just being able to save. In 3s, sometimes I realise I have to just stay back, make all the saves, and hope my team score on the basis of probability - because they will not save it on the counter.

Haven’t played since season 10, but was gc in 2s and my only advice to those hard stuck is stop caring about rank. You will naturally rank up if you just go for things a higher ranked person would go for. Your gonna fail a ton but I promise you that’s the only way to rank up. If you play with the mindset that your level is plat, your gonna stay there forever

Fun vid, needed more explanation of why you think plat is the worst rank imo. Felt like it was just a throwaway comment that players can climb to plat with a multitude of skills, with other areas significantly lacking. As a high rated player I can see that you can climb to plat with 0 mechanics and decent positioning, or 0 positioning with decent mechanics, but I think it would've improved the vid to have that explained in greater depth.
