This is Power Metal! And the high speed is just called speed metal. This is Speed/Power metal. Dragonforce are LEGENDARY for this style in particular. If you enjoyed this and the epicness and the harmonies, I would DEFINITELY recommend Nightwish - "Ghost Love Score (Official Live)" at some point, symphonic metal is a whole 'nother beast, and they've been around since 1996. Ask Black Pegasus about Nightwish, for that matter
@brendenj91132 ай бұрын
Oh man, I would love to see him react to them! Ghost Love Score would be such a treat for him.

I discovered Nightwish on a business trip to Finland in 1999. It was hard to find CDs in the US at that time unless you went to a specialty store or ordered it. Of course, I prefer the Tarja era songs of the time but like Floor for the newer stuff just fine. I wish they would just leave the singers to their era like Iron Maiden and Van Halen and not re-record everything.
@capatheist2 ай бұрын
Thrash, death metal, and some punk would be interpreted as "fast rock" also

So, funny story about the drink break during the "dueling guitars" section: When this song first came out, people kept saying their speed was impossible and must be sped up artificially. So, the drinking scene is to show that there's no manipulation of the video/audio. It's also why they have that overlapped video showing their hands on the guitars without their more in-the-moment movements.

i mean, blind guardian is just as old, idk about helloween being the first. A lot of Iron Maiden is what we'd call power metal now too. One of the funniest things about this performance is that there's no way to reproduce it perfectly Live, because the "squeal" at the very end was from guitarist Herman Li's E string snapping mid-note, and the producer liked the effect so much, he made them keep it for the official audio. 🔥🤘😆🤘🔥

Both the series "metal evolution" and the 2 preceding movies "A headbangers journey" and "Global metal" are also worth watching. Dunn had slso made dosumentaries for Iron Maiden, Rush and ZZ top.

Dragonforce puts on a hell of a show. Super high energy, and they will rock a tiny ass stage as if it was a sold-out arena. They were super cool and really engaged with everyone in the crowd, too. A lot of bands can talk to a crowd and hype participation and stuff, but it was effortless for them. Like, the audience was just an extension of their space and not a separate entity. It was really sick. I personally think that his vocals are even better now.

The term for the super fast metal is typically speed metal, but when it has epic lyrics as well, it's called power metal. If you're an outdoor kid, you're more likely to play an instrument. DragonForce is legendary as a Speed/Power Metal band, and this was the song that really catapulted them to worldwide popularity with its inclusion as the final song on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. They've released several albums since then, but their songs are often characterized by fast guitar solos and equally hard and fast drums, and their lyrics are generally heavily fantasy-themed. Even the album the song came off of was called *Inhuman Rampage*, which also featured another of my favorite songs of theirs, "Fury of the Storm." Highly recommend that one, too, if you get a chance to listen to it.

To answer your question, yes, I had an outside life while also playing Guitar, Bass, Drums and a little keyboards. It didnt hurt that my Mother was a touring singer throughout the midwest when I was growing up but also that my Dad can play anything with strings on it. They made sure we got out and "touched grass" as much as possible growing up. My Brother is still in multiple bands as both a Bass player and a Drummer while I had to stop playing live due to having my fretting hand completely crushed in a accident while I was in the Navy. I can still sort of play Guitar but not up to the level I would need to play Live. These guys however are on a whole different planet...Great content...Much respect...
