i listened to this a couple of years ago, and then revisited this week as i've been playing more jams and now have a band. this is unbelievably helpful: super clear info, taught methodically and simply. thanks so much.

Great advise from a great teacher-instructor, keeping it simple and not taking too much shine from the other instruments. Thanks Eli.

"If you still suck, don't learn new stuff to still suck at!" I sub'd just because you said that. Good advice!

Lots of great tips here, I just need some free time for banjo to start putting some of this into practise. What's the tune at the end? I have a feeling you did a tut on it and it was a tune you wrote, but I've forgotten the title. I really like it. 👍

Came across the other Jim Mills lesson via your reddit post and although I didn’t know the tune, took a deep dive into learning it since it was basically the epitome of a bluegrass progression and banjo transitions. However, this is the explanation I needed to bring it all together. I think I’ve made more progression in the last week than I have in the last year of practicing. Thank you very much. Subscribed.

I'm sure you've heard of the tune: cruisin timber. I love it and want to learn to play it on my banjo buuut I can't figure it out. I'm sure lots of people would love a tutorial, plus there aren't any other ones for the song here on KZbin.

Well....this could very well be the most useful tutorial banjo bluegrass video ever. So to the point and uncomplicated in a complicated way. Thank you for your excellent work. G

So glad I've kept at all this basic stuff for 5 or so years so that you could explain it to me in a way that helps it all make sense, as you have here and in some of your other videos! It's really starting to come together now. Thanks so much Eli!

Great lesson. At one time I could play 10+ very memorized songs but couldn't do much more than vamp at a jam. This is exactly what I needed to learn to do.

Between learning all the material, writing the script, filming, and editing, probably 10ish hours per video

I really liked the application to real songs (with examples) at the end, and I’ll work on the application of these techniques to my own songs. Thanks Eli.
