Pretttttty good self control😂😂😂 Have a great week Todd. Hope the snow was kind to you. We are getting hammered in Hudson Valley NY. Expecting som AC/DC covers soon! Rudd was great. One of my favorites. Powerful and hard but never overplayed. He was always about the song.

I enjoyed that. Good thinking. I am guessing it wont take you too long to get used to your new telephone poles. It will allow you to really relax while physics helps you to get a nice meaty rock sound. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with them.

I love my 2Bs! Pro mark oak ones. They’re great! Yes they are heavier, so of course swinging them will take more effort, however it also makes them rebound more so overall I feel like it’s less work to get X amount of power by using the bigger sticks. Curious to see what camp you fall in!

I tried a few songs last night with them (2B’s) and I absolutely love them. I highly doubt I will use them for everything. I think those 17 inch sticks will fit that bill but those big tree trunks are going to stay in my stable for the time being. Everything you hit with them just sounds better. I don’t know what it is -the cymbals seem to react the best.

Awesome man, glad you liked them!! And yes I totally agree - especially the hi hats!! For the longest time I was frustrated I couldn’t get the same dynamic range from my hats as I heard in a lot of tracks; when I switched to the 2Bs it was a light bulb moment as I was suddenly able to get a nice sizzle out of em even when I was playing at a lower dynamic. I go back and forth between the 2Bs and the 420x Mike portnoy signature Promark sticks. They are also longer and more akin to a 5b in girth, plus they have the active grip coating which I like. Rock on Todd 🤘🏼🤘🏼

@@APdrums77 One thing I really noticed was the cymbals. Hit them with the 2B's and its a completely different sound, a much better sound. You don't get the stick noise at all, just the lovely Paiste sound I've heard on many a recording

Great video Todd! Gosh if you have the stamina...swing those war clubs. ( your neighbors will love you ) Did Michelle say "Dont let the drum Doctor" LOL I was looking forward to hearing those military cans! Have we heard them sheila? 🤷♂️ I cant remember sugar! Shuikens--- concealed Japanese daggers. Those dam telephone poles will work also for fillipino arnis fighting sticks if you run out of shuriken's...Ole'.

No, Michelle said ladies don’t believe anything he tells you he is not a doctor

No, we have not heard them yet! He keeps us waiting... I'm thinking those 2Bs will really pull the tone out of those hydraulic heads.

UPDATE..... two songs down.... you definitely know you're playing with a heavier stick using the 2B's. It's going to take a while to get used to them and definitely will have to stretch out the upper body a bit more before playing. The 17" Freestyle feel really good. That little extra length makes me feel a little more confident going into a fill.

Perhaps you should be aware of unintended innuendo in your comments also. 😳 Good on you for the confidence boost!

@@skfootit do you know how hard it was no pun intended to watch the innuendo while doing this video. I’ve been actually working on it two days and I just got frustrated and just put out this. Some of it was a R rated and although we are all adults here, there are still some out there that would think I went too far with it . I’m a soldier with a potty mouth trying to live and work in a G rated world full of snowflakes

@CheapDrumsGuy 🤣🤣🤣 I'm no soldier, but a bit "adult-minded" myself, and I commend you for your efforts. There's only one moment in the video where the comment in my head forced me to fight the urge to type out on my keyboard. One day, I may do a video on the various implements in my arsenal, and I will have to edit, edit, edit. Well done!

@@skfootit I always appreciate your comments, Sheila. It means a lot because you’ve been doing this a lot longer than me. I think of stupid crap during all my videos, but I really have to put myself in the check.

@CheapDrumsGuy And I always appreciate your input, as you are leaps and bounds ahead of me when it comes to confidence and consistency. If you only knew the changes I go through to post a video. This last one was my very best effort at not sweating the small stuff. It's raw, but it's posted.

I suspect you'll notice more swell in your ride cymbal when playing with the heavier sticks. I find it requires more attention to technique when playing ostinatos on the ride to avoid a huge swell that might get out of hand.
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
You are correct. My PST7 ride symbol is washy enough as it is so I put two moon gels on it. Going to it with the 2B sticks I noticed that even with the moon gels on there it’s still really lit up. I like those big tub whackers though. I like the longer sticks even more I think that’s probably going to be my standard stick a 17inch 5B.

I usually start with my heavy sticks then going lighter as I sort of like working out with weights Then as I go lighter I begin to move faster
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
I was thinking I would probably have to start light, then move up to the heavies. Once I get stretched out enough makes perfect sense.

hey, how do i make my double bass pedal kick heads centered in the middle of my kick drum?
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
foot pedals have a myriad of adjustments. I know mine does. depending on the size of the bass drum, If it is a smaller bass drum, you might have to lower the beaters .On that same note, if it’s a small bass drum, you may need a riser on the back of the bass drum to lift it up some. In all actuality, they don’t have to strike the exact center of the bass drum. If you are close to within a couple of inches you should be OK.
