Yeah I remember how in HW, the whole TP made you really wish as a tank that you would get at least one BLM in your party so you could nuke a wall to wall fast.

The dungeons are literally designed for wall to wall pulls. ARR not so much but in the expansions you really notice it especially in shadowbringers. There's always like 3 packs of mobs and then a wall then another 3 packs then a boss.

I don't know about anyone else but even knowing that I should not infuriate during inner release I still find myself during it every now and then and it brings the feel bads with it. Doesn't help the game has literally taught you to do this since ARR though and that's a hard coded muscle memory. Good vid Xeems looking forward to part two. I'm a warrior main and my favorite thing outside of raids has to be the fact that you can do premade level 80 dungeons with a war and 3 dps. The self heals are so strong I can keep myself alive and not lose damage and we can clear any lvl 80 dungeon in 10 minutes

Fantastic video. While I agree Inner Chaos isn’t as hype as it’s made out to be, the advantage it has over Confiteor is that Confiteor is only stronger IF it’s a direct-crit, if it’s a regular crit or lower it’s vastly weaker than Inner Chaos, at least at my ilvl it is.

If anyone is reading this I’ve got a few questions he says that upheaval takes priority over fell cleave my thoughts where that upheavel has a different cooldown that fell cleave but cost the same amount of beast gauge thingy as fell cleave but it’s free so is he just saying that we should use it as soon as it comes off cooldown period? Ik this videos a year old they might’ve taken the gauge cost away from upheavel but idk the other thing is that you can stack 100 gauge to then have 5 fell cleaves under inner release but he says we should use infuriate inner chaos before inner release meaning that we would always be at 50 gauge having only 4 fell cleaves during inner release is that just a 2min dps cycle thing? Cuz I don’t understand the 2minute thing at all

People in general make very little effort to learn their class. Very first thing I do with games like this are to look up optimal rotations. Today I am just about never out DPSed by other tanks. Ultimately my issues are focusing too much on rotation, and not watching for mechanics. But a few runs in any instance and it all comes together.

I play at about 200 ping as well, it's playable but double weaving is huge risk to clip gcds.

Hi I play from India on NA so my ping is between 200-250 and I've pretty much cleared everything on WAR in this game, so here's a few tips to mitigate ping. At around 180, you want to have a 2.38 or lower GCD to make sure you never mess up IR, but going too low can make clipping an issue. You can mitigate this by planning OGCDs in advance. Under ideal circumstances WAR never really needs to dual weave, and you can plan for TBs and stuff in advance. At 150 or better ping you can branch out and start funneling some SkS into DET, the gains this way are very minor compared to clipping and losing IR GCDs but a gain is a gain! 2.38 is stil the safest GcD to me, but you can double weave at these pings, which allows you to be more effective with your mitigations with less prior planning! So mess with SkS and see what sticks! Have fun with WAR, it's great and your healers will love you! Hope this helped!

Hello, i'm "new" to tanking, i started maining tanks like 6 month ago (used to be healer since ARR), i managed to understand everything that was said here and was more or less already doing everything mentioned on the video. The only thing i don't understand is why inner chaos is "an awfull skill" for warrior ? From what i understand you get a free crit/dh with a huge potency, so what's the down side ? I understand it's weaker than confiteor, but in which way is it an awfull skill . Sorry if it's a noob question, i'm still in the learning process of the warrior job.

It's a good skill, but it's completely capped as far as damage goes. So there is no chance for you to hit harder.

(Oops I Wrote an essay) Edit: changed old IR cd, removed incorrect xeno opinion. His opinion on Inner chaos is from earlier discussions on WAR in general from like 1 or 2 years ago I think. He had a video on it but it may be hard to find. WAR'S issue is that it's not built like the other tanks because it's the only one that can critical direct hit on demand. As a result it cannot meld direct hit because it will be a dead stat every time inner chaos or inner release is used. WARs use determination with crit instead of direct hit and crit which is a worse stat combo and causes WAR to not be able to direct hit nor crit direct hit outside of IR and IC resulting in lower damage potential for the job. With the nuance of WAR established we can get into Xenos' issue with Inner Chaos. IIRC, He would prefer IC be a separate skill from Fell Cleave and didn't direct crit so it could be used inside the IR window and actually increase the burst windows damage output. It's not hard to adjust using IC but from his perspective it makes the opener clunky iirc. Xenos dislikes the current WAR and prefers how it was on Stormblood's release. For context, Stormblood WAR had a 30% damage buff for 20~ secs (Berserk 60 cd) and a second button to reduce Beast Gauge costs by half (Inner Release 120 cd). I started the game after the changes to WAR in stormblood but from what I could tell the issue came from losing half your Beast Gauge whenever you changed Tank Stance (now removed from game) and going into IR. This clearly requires a bit of forethought or else you fuck your burst window. Players didn't like this so it got changed. Personally I think I could go either way. I like the current version I know but I could see a less janky Stormblood WAR being brought back and being really good. I like the crit/direct hit theme WAR has atm but I hate the melding conflict with the other jobs. I also miss the various passive abilities WAR had between the two stances back then as well. It gave WAR a lot of nuance that is now gone from the job. I would be OK with a 'fixed' Stormblood WAR if it had interesting passives like back in the day. RIP Deliverance 🙏

its very punishing if you accidentally use it in IR (which is easy to avoid tbh), its another direct crit skill which makes it even more incompatable with other tank melds, and because its direct crit it doesnt gain any crit/dh buffs from party members which make's its use as an option to burst outside of your IR window have less value (i think only gets value for putting in trick, embolden, and brotherhood).

@@quinnholton773 Inner Release was a 120 second cooldown before 4.2. No one, Xeno included, liked the halving of gauge when you changed stances. Which is why it was removed in patch 4.1. The devs still weren't happy with the state of WAR after that, so they stealth nerfed it with the 4.2 rework.

Do you think there is any reason to onslaught right when you infuriate since you will get 20 beast gauge right back from Maim/Storm's Eye? If you do it right, Onslaught will be off CD before Inner Release ends so you get a tiny bit of extra damage in there. I've been doing that recently and it feels pretty good, but I just do babby content so I'm not sure if it could potentially mess something up in harder fights. It might be pretty negligible as well, but have been curious

So this isn't true for every tank. After getting experience with multiple tanks, his "dungeons are just easy" yes this is true FOR WARRIOR. Raw Intuition/Nascent Flash/Bloodwhetting puts warrior in a different freaking tier of tankiness when it comes to dungeon trashpacks. Its basically 8 seconds of invulnerability, then you can use Holmgang on it's 4 minute cooldown for another 10 second of invulnerability, and then by the time Holmgang wears off Bloodwhetting is back up and you heal back to full. No other tank can do this at all and warrior can do it every 4 minutes, pull an ungodly doomstack that no other tank could hope to survive every 4 minutes.

It's 30 seconds baseline, the 60 second duration is tied to Inner release which refreshes the duration on Storms eye to 60.

It depends. Nascent is one of those skills that synergise really well like vengeance and inner release. Inner release makes all of vengeance reflect attacks direct crit, and nascent makes vengeances attacks heal you as well. Nascent flash I just use when I need it, so long as you use it with some big damage attacks and don't waste it

Any dungeon after ARR doesn't even allow for proper wall to wall pulls. They put some gateway between every 3 trash groups. Any baby can manage these pulls. The height of difficulty in FF14's baby mode dungeons is when they put a ranged mob in the second group or something so you have to pull the third group to the second or break line of sight. My wish for Endwalker would be harder dungeons. Like make an easy difficulty with trust NPCs for people who only care about the story and then make the normal dungeons much harder. Would make re-running dungeons to level other jobs so much more fun. Some of them are so amazingly designed with fun boss mechanics. But you can ignore just every single mechanic since they are just so easy. If I fail an obvious mechanic and it doesn't even hit for half of my health as a DPS it's just pointless. I'm not asking for savage dungeons, but at least make it possible to wipe when people fuck up.

Love the videos bro, but wall to wall pulling is healer dependent, and the whole idea of healer dps gets in their head and they literally just do not heal and I'll explain using an example. Castrum "whatever" (don't remember the exact name but it's the level 69 stormblood dungeon), I'm level 70 with full ilvl 400 poetic gear (it ilvl syncs you but I'm capped anyway), first room is 3 mobs, grab and pull to second room where 3 more mobs spawn, you can't go any further because you have to kill the first 3 in the second then 3 more spawn then you can move forward. So we have a grand total of 6 mobs, it's basically a baby dick pull. I get to the end and pop everything, rampart, vengeance, arms reach, thrill. The healer throws out like 2 heals, healing me back to full from the initial barrage and then proceeds to dps. Second barrage comes in, I'm down to like 65-70%, third 45-50%, fourth 15-20%, still no cast from the healer so I hit my heal and I'm up to like 40-45% again, fifth stuff is getting low but it's not dead yet I'm at like 10-15%, still no heals from healer, he's dpsing and finally I die and the never even started a cast and has over 9000 mana. And these are the types of healers you commonly get while leveling in dungeons. I'm with you, wall to wall should be standard, it's not hard for either the healer or the tank, I have had healers that have no issue with it and can still dps, but when you have no idea who is behind that keyboard, it's just not worth it to pull everything and die needlessly because your healer isn't conscious or thinks that he's a dps. Dps meta or no, a healer is still a healer, not a dps no matter how you rationalize it and people just don't seem to think that they need to heal sometimes. Keep up the great work! It's not healer dependant for warrior. Have you ever played warrior in a dungeon?

@@XenosysVex many times, I'm more referring to new players leveling rather than doing things at max level (not having all your self healing really puts you in a position to rely on the healer)

@@XenosysVex that's true, my post probably doesn't really relate much to the video in retrospect, but as a newer player catching up this was a concern that I had while leveling and if I'm watching your video there has to be others in my position watching as well who would take it out of context and blame their tanks for problems that really lie with healers. But you're right, that doesn't really apply at 80, my bad.

@@MalchazarZJ How someone gets to 80 is non of my concern. idc if you boost, pay someone to level for you, dungeon spam, whatever. Leveling is so stupid easy in this game it really doesnt matter how someone levels. While in a leveling dungeon youre gonna run into players that learn faster and slower, if something happens in gaem then just either kick or get kicked and try again. people think to much into this shit lol. This game is deigned to where you can play at your own pace or leave group content and quickly come back later with no harm
