does he really play his new signature guitars? his guitars are old strats, sounded much better than new ones. Ive seen a guy on YT comparing his old original guitar (that Yngwie sold in 80s or 90s) and sounded much better than any new signature strat.
@deanwilliams4332 жыл бұрын
@@antropomorfizacja I just think the old Strats are too valuable to take on the road and beat them up when he's happy with the signature. Yngwie is known to be very harsh on his guitars.
@221b-l3tАй бұрын
@@antropomorfizacja He changed pickups, he used DiMarzio HS3 and HS2 in the 80s and 90s went to Seymour Duncans about 15 years ago. I agree I like the DiMarzios better, I have them in my cream Squier Strat with scalloped neck :) Love them. Nice chunky yet clear single coil tone and no hum or noise at all. I love my Tele but with high gain the single coils cam be very noisy. The Seymour Duncans are also twice the price. He likes them a lot better but I think he sounds better with DiMarzios. The rest of the rig is the same, Plexi, bright channel on 10, DOD250 boosting it, even if it's not always a DOD, it's always the same circuit and his signature heads just have it built in along with a loop amd a load box. It's actually pretty cool. It has it's own attenuator (not a master volume) a switch to turn two EL34s off and make it a 50W 1987x and yeah the overdrive built in, which he never uses but its there if he ever lost his pedal (he once did in the USSR). So nothing besides the pickups has changed, even the speakers are always Celestion G12T75s.
@221b-l3tАй бұрын
Also his signature guitars are fantastic. I've played much more expensive custom shop stuff and as far as Strats go I would always take a YJM (with DiMarzios). Just feels like a million bucks. They aren't cheap and I can't afford one, hence the Squier but I've spent at least 100 h playing them in shops, wonderful guitars. Custom shop feel for standard Made in US prices. I don't play my Squier too much because the scalloped neck is wonderful I start disliking my other guitars... I can't exactly scallop a Les Paul, would look weird with binding. I might do the Flying V though, I always liked KK Downings Vs, he had them all scalloped since Yngwie came on to the scene. But good luck buying a Hamer...

Back in the 1990s, can't go into too much detail due to confidentiality, I did see Yngwie's gear pass through a border point. He had multiple large bags of plectrums. I couldn't even estimate how may he had on hand, it would have been hundreds. He was touring with only one Marshall 50w head plus his effects rig, and probably 4 guitars, all the other stuff you see on stage is just a backdrop.
@MichaelSorensen-bl3ec Жыл бұрын
@timothymartin2137 Yes, most bands back in 80s would appear with this huge backline but in reality were only actually running one, perhaps two heads through a couple of cabs on-stage. Mostly their live amps weren't even in the backline, they were off-stage to allow the tech to make adjustments and fixes if anything went bad. If you ever see the video of Judas Priest at the Us Festival back in the day, you can clearly see they had just one Marshall head each hooked up behind the wall of cabs and amps on-stage. There's exceptions to this of course, but for many touring acts it's just an image. Sometimes the heads are just shells, sometimes a few cabs will be used as fold back monitors.
@MichaelSorensen-bl3ec Жыл бұрын
@timothymartin2137 Yes indeed, since I tried using thicker picks I've never looked back. The thin ones just feel like they are constantly trying to play catch-up. I remember being surprised at how high the action was on his guitars. That too was a bit of a game changer for me. Highest action I ever saw was Ronni LeTekro from TNT. You could serious drop a pencil between the strings and the fretboard and not touch either of them, just insane. Can't understand how he can even get it tointonate, let alone play so fluently like that.

Yngwie always has an overdrive (DOD250). Plexi doesn't have that much gain. Angus played very clean in comparison. Less distortion than a Plexi can fo. He had lots of them so the volume wasn't on 10. Probably on 5 for Angus tones. Distorts when you dig in but pretty clean when you play softly, he uses that to great effect.

You give it to them to hold and it turns out they were eating pork with their bare hands the mere 5 minutes before, or had their index finger scratching their anus itch somehow, and that is when they don't interpret it as "sure, play it as much as you'd like, Paganini", make it all out of tune, then get a pick in their pocket so wore out that it nicks the strings and when you actually get to use it, the string snaps in the most innapropriate time and you're left wondering if it was because of that little f*cker. So, NO. I completely get it.
