Thanks, dude! This is possibly the best overview of Playbox I've seen, and I've watched several -- including the official ones from NI. I keep looking for reasons to NOT buy Playbox, but you've just about pushed me over the edge! 😝 I especially appreciate your focus on the *musical* aspects of the instrument. Too many plugin and software reviews are done by people who want to create music with automated tools that do everything for you, without learning much about music theory or playing an instrument. Hey, nothing wrong with that, for those who have a different skill set, or just want to generate backdrops for their vocals, etc. But you've explained some useful tips for *musicians*, including how to tweak the chord settings, import and export MIDI, play single notes as well as chords, layer chords, use alternate scales, randomize only some parameters while keeping others "frozen," set up the equivalent of keyboard splits for live performance, etc. Like you, I'm more about composing and performing than sound design, but the sound design capabilities of Playbox are intriguing. I can see bringing in sounds from Form, Reaktor, or third-party plugins to further mangle in Playbox (not to mention playing around with my own chords and samples). Could be fun! OK, following your link to NI to get myself a new tool/toy. Thanks again! Keep up the good work.

much love thanks for watching, yea im definitely more on the musician side as I play the piano and do finger drumming , im not really a fan of all these plugins making music more automated but the way Native Instruments did it was a perfect example of having the best of both worlds and i appreciate you for using the link to help support the channel and continue with more reviews. Let me know if you have any question.

*I've been looking all over youtube for tutorials on how to install and get playbox working through Ableton Live 11. Its so complicated because playbox is a VST3; which I am new to. I don't even know if VST3 files have a different extention from VST2. pLAYBOX IS NOT SHOWING UP IN Ableton live 11.*

Enable your VST 3 option in preferences and VST 3 will show up under your VST2, when installing in native instruments make sure your preferences in NI is pointing to your plugin Folder

I've run into this issue with other software companies where when I install the software the installation date is a different date from the date I installed it on. The play box software says that it was installed on my computer in March the 25th of 2022 and I installed it in July 2023. So whenever I get support what they do is they install the current version of it, so does that mean native instrument is selling out of date software?

Is there a way to play single notes? solid explanation btw!
@ribthiefz82832 жыл бұрын
The way i set it up right now is that - i just clear all chords and record each note (for instance all white keys, C4 -to-C5). So in that way you could record each note individually in the scale you're playing. But i'm still wondering if there's a way to just turn off "chord mode" all together and instantly make everything single note.
@JaeFreshmen2 жыл бұрын
@@ribthiefz8283 you cant turn it off bro this is meant to be a chord plugin but having the loophole that i showed in the video is the best way to go about it and you can save it as a preset and you can change the octaves very easily
@rogerio211112 жыл бұрын
Hey, nice review. I'm wondering, under the chords tab is there a way to have the scale in order? I.e, I pick the C Major scale and then it goes in order I, II, III etc? No matter what way I do it, it just has it random and I'm just used to thinking up chord progressions from the scale! Thanks
@JaeFreshmen2 жыл бұрын
you just got to understand most chord progression are played in inversions but you can easily record them in , but as for it being set to that i dont think its and option but you can make it and save it as a preset but bro challenge yourself to learn inversion dont just get comfortable doing things one way
