Daltos is actually getting pretty far ahead now. I figured he would fuckup somewhere along the way but he's on track to leave the others in the dust. The wide-liberty playstyle is weak in the early game but starts to run away in the mid to late game. But with most other players having a slow start he's already racing ahead. Which will accelerate even more when wide-liberty train really gets going in the late game.
@M0M0117Ай бұрын
He’s too big, people will gang up on him. There’s no point in getting too big too quickly in a multiplier game, especially when the map is this small.

Ok so to be clear, Dedalus had told Icarus that the wax wings would get too heavy if he went too close to the ocean and would start melting if he flew too close to the sun and Icarus being an impulse young guy was messing around being excited bout flying and flew too close to the sun
@tenebrisevernightАй бұрын
Additionally, Ancient Greeks didn't know about 'altitude' or 'space,' so they just assumed higher-up meant hotter.
@Brian-tn4cdАй бұрын
@@tenebrisevernight Greeks definitely had such ideas, but their assumptions were probably closer to the idea that if you put your hand close to the fire it gets hotter and extrapolated that to the sun, they did know that if you go higher it gets colder they just didn't realize how far away the sun really was

Happy Monday Everyone! Daltos continues to roll along far ahead of everyone else with his seven cities though at this point I kind of hope he doesn’t settle his eighth. The further past turn 40 you settle a city the more harm than good it will do you unless you are going down a very specific game play route (that usually only coastals do). I know it sucks building a settler and not using it but all it will do is delay him getting important national wonders that are already difficult to build as a wide liberty player. Getting Petra was huge and I was rather impressed he identified its importance and prioritized it in his research que. Old Daltos would have only realized how good it was after Lewis built it in his second city and complained about it, new Daltos identified he had a desert start, shifted out of the normal liberty tech path to get currency early, and now has the best empire by far in the game. Rythian oh Rythian. I know civ isn’t a game you guys play a ton of but I feel like every time someone has to discover a core game concept and today you discovered regional luxuries. Congrats! :) Every player gets one luxury that spawns in quantity around them and in which there’s (almost) always enough to trade one to every other player to encourage the players to trade with each other. Somehow despite not generating any faith until after turn 48 Rythian manages to get the best coastal pantheon (God of the sea) thanks to other players just not picking it, so kudos to him and now Rythian will actually do some decent faith production for once! Can’t really tell yet if Rythian has any islands or not around him but he has three pretty decent cities and his trade routes up so for a tall play he’s off to a good start. If I were him I’d make at least one boat to look around to try and find a nearby spot for fourth city on an island. Maybe plop it down after getting a national college up. Potato so far is the only player that I would say is kind of (and I use that term loosely right now) keeping up with Daltos. He has five cities, getting down the piety tree quickly, and getting temples rolling out in them which makes them all fairly strong. However all of his expands are still very very low population and his happiness just isn’t there yet to support any more. Desperately he needs more luxuries and sources of happiness if he wants to catch up in any meaningful way or he’s going to just be a big blob of land that does nothing. Duncan has, at least, managed to spawn his free great scientist and plopped it down next to his capital although on just a simple plain grassland tile. I would have put it on the bison myself because a great person tile improvement can still get the bonus from whatever resource its on (so in that case it’d get +2 food, +1 food from the bison and +1 from the city’s granary). Dunca’s three cities are growing well and has not quite gotten a pantheon yet. I’d love to see him take rain dance here with all his lakes but there’s still a few other good options left. Kirsty: Last game Kirsty was too passive on settling, this game she is just gone mad with settling, sending her settlers far and wide to suck up land so far away from home that she is settling cities just so that they aren’t quite so lonely. I can’t really tell what pantheon she picked and missed it if it was on screen in the last episode but I don’t see any bonus on her yields from it. Her happiness is a little low and she’s being hurt by her regional spread to her neighbors but she has met every player so there is plenty of people to trade her chocolates with now. With Lewis bent on the sea I expect her to just keep filling up the land even though it’s so late for settling. She is also making border conflicts that don’t even need to exist with Daltos by more or less pressing up against his entire border with her cities. That could horribly backfire on her down the road or maybe she plans to attack him in the future? Lewis: Lewis so far has not brought his A game today. I am genuinely angry that it is turn 58 and he still has not improved his whales around his capital yet. It was bad enough being a coastal and researching sailing so late but then not even sending a worker out to improve your whales. Christ on a bike. Lewis’s saving grace, I suppose, is there’s a long chain of islands to his left and he sees it and plans to leave the continent behind. That could pay off in the long run but he will be behind for a very long time before he catches up to Daltos. The other downside of lots of islands is it means your production is far away from the continent which makes it hard to build and deploy a land army. RT: Today’s role of just glad to be here is going to be played by RT Games. I guess at least the inconsequential player is out of the way in the corner where he can’t really affect anything. He has plenty of land and luxuries and could support a much larger empire, just hasn’t, ya know, built the settlers to go claim it yet.

Lewis has gotten rough starts before and still got out ahead. Having said that Daltos' rapid growth is only going to accelerate in the late mid game because that's what wide play liberty does.
